Beginner ebike suggestions and questions

I'm just looking to get one to help with general city travel and getting to and from work so nothing really to powerful. My main concern is that I'm only 5ft tall, I have enough problems finding a regular bike so I'm worried about finding a ebike that I can ride. Also I'm worried about winter, while it rarely drops below 0°F where I live and snow is rare, I'm wanting one that could hold up in the travel to work. My budget is $3,500 right now so if I could get one that lasts it would be nice, also recommendations on general maintenance of these guys or to point me in the right direction of where I can find info on that would be nice as well.

Affordable quality 72v 50ah batteries for an enclosed scooter? (The new matrix nexa)

I know it's a bit off topic since it's not an ebike, but I'll soon be driving a Matrix Nexa which comes with lead acid batteries (72v 58ah), but I think it's 6 battery cartridges weighing around 150 to 200 lbs in batteries alone, whereas with lithium itd only way 45 lbs. I'm hoping to find an affordable seller that sells 72v 50ah lithium batteries that also ship to Canada. I plan on using it for doordashing, so I'm hoping to buy 2 sets, so I can have one charging while I'm out doing deliveries on the other where i could swap when necessary, allowing me to doordash all day if I wish.

Crazy voltage sag - Dangerous?

Hello, apologize if that is not the right place but I can't find any answer anywhere
Today after charging my battery (48v60ah) I saw it going to 3 bars after 100m, so I go check the voltage and it is sagging between 51v-54v, I've even seen it at 54.8 when not filming which is extremely abnormal for a 48v battery, upon checking the battery connector there seems to be a little bit of rust? I can't really tell, how would I go on cleaning this?

Clip: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/zvUTUoM1rOg

Rust?: https://imgur.com/a/kaeVLJ1

I was just wondering if that's any dangerous? I'm so worried, battery only has 1300km on it so it's not that old

Appreciate any quick answer, I don't wanna burn my place down, I really have nowhere to store the battery

The bike in question is Aniioki AQ177, which doesn't seem to have any certification which makes me even more worried

Velotric T1 ST rear rack

I got this bike to commute and drive around the city, and am loving it so far. But my back is sweaty carrying my backpack. I add a rear rack on my non-e-bike (a Topeak) and I tried to put it on this one but could not get it to fit. Any recommendations for a good rear rack? The one that Velotric sells specifically for this bike has been out of stock for a while.

E-Scooter Recommendations? Previous Jetson Bolt Owner

Hi everyone, my Jetson bolt pro broke recently and the bike shop basically said it is irreparable -- no spare parts, etc.

I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for similar scooters that are less than $1k? Ideally, I would like to purchase one that is easily repairable and upgradeable.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Father’s Day question

Hi! Since it’s Mother’s Day I figured I’d get a jump on Father’s Day. My dad has three e-bikes that he loves to work on and occasionally rides (he is 70). Can you recommend anything that might enhance his experience? I think even installing new gear would make him happy (nevermind it’s utility— but if you have amazing recs, I welcome them). I believe all of the bikes are Harleys. Not sure if that makes a difference. Thank you in advance for any suggestions!

Looking for best bafang to convert my giant talon 29er

I'm going to convert my 2015 29er giant talon mountain bike used for trails. I'm new to ebikes and am thinking to order this but want to double check. I have a few questions if anyone can help. First, is this bafang/battery I found on amazon the best current one and would it work on a 29er? https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BZ7KT1FJ/

What display do you recommend?

Should I get a 40t or 46t chainring?

Is the 52v 20ah shark battery the best battery or should I buy a different battery from somewhere else?

Lectric eBikes Quality (XPress 500 vs. Aventon Pace 500.3)?

Looking for a bike to be able to commute to work (14-16 miles round trip) about 2-3X per week. At a minimum I want (1) an upright riding position -- I have some back issues, so hunching over the handlebars is no good; (2) front and rear racks to put my work gear; (3) fenders to keep some of the street dirt off; and (4) integrated front/rear lights, because I'll be riding among traffic. I don't need Class 3 power, or really even Class 2, although a throttle might be nice as a backup, for different trips/errands, or if it's been a particularly rough day.

I've narrowed my choices down to two: the Lectric Xpress 500 and the Aventon Pace 500.3. The Aventon has a base price of $1600, but adding racks, and fenders raises the price to about $1800. An equally kitted out Lectric comes to only about $1250. The only thing giving me pause is quality/service/support. Aventon is a decently known large brand with a good reputation for quality, and if anything goes wrong with the Aventon during the warranty period, I take it literally a mile down the street to the shop I bought it from. Lectric is an online-only shop which has local "service partners" -- does anybody have any insight into their build quality, their customer service, or how well they respond to warranty repair requests?

How much of a difference does UL certification make?

I've been using a relatively cheap (~$800), Chinese-made ebike for the past 3.5 years. I love this thing, but I've been thinking about upgrading, in part because I'd like a bigger bike that can carry a passenger, but also because I'm concerned about the battery's fire risk--especially since I live on the top floor of a four-story apartment building.

I think I treat the battery fairly well. I only fully charge it if I'm about to ride; I tend to keep it between 40% and 80% charged; I almost always ride the bike at its second highest speed (out of three), not full blast; I only ride the bike two or three days a week, and rarely more than an hour total each day; and of course I store the battery inside my apartment, safe from the elements.

For what it's worth, I keep the battery in a military surplus ammo can, if for no other reason than to give myself an extra few seconds to chuck it outside if disaster strikes. And the battery does have the "CE" marking on its label. But more peace of mind would be ideal. UL certification seems like a good way to substantially decrease the fire risk, but how much of a decrease are we talking about? Is buying a UL-certified bike a good way to avert disaster or would I be shelling out $1-2k to lower my fire risk by a tenth of a percent?

E-Cells Triple Crown

From E-Cells Page

Does anyone have an E-Cells Triple Crown (3000w, AWD, 190Nm) and able to give an opinion on whether it's worth the US$5,500 asking price? How would you compare it to the similarly priced e-dirtbike offerings?

On paper, the E-ride pro SS is substantially faster with better specs for less money (this is 52v, that's 72, it goes faster, has more amp hours, etc.). Sure, it's really a light dirtbike & won't fool anyone, but this Triple Crown is massive and probably also won't blend in (I would think?). Trying to understand why anyone would choose this over a Sur Ron, Talaria, etc.

As E-Cells' premier product (apparently), I'd expect to see plenty of content around it, but there's almost nothing on YouTube, no reviews, just a few ride videos and instructional videos from E-Cells themselves (which I appreciate, btw). Sure, it's out of budget for most folks, but car reviews are always talking about exotic, high-end products. Hard to tell if it's worth considering saving up for something like this vs. getting the less-than-half-the-price E-Cells Five Star, or going with an e-dirtbike.

Mountain Bike tires?

Would it be worth it to put mountain bike tires on my e-bike to try and ride trails with. My e-bike has heavily street only tires and I wanted to try riding local trails. If so any reccomendations?

Good Budget Ebike Batteries?

Hello! I'm new to the ebike scene and I want to know what's the cheapest reputable battery? I know that batteries are the most expensive part of the set and I dont want to cheap out on them, but I don't want to buy an overpriced or crazy battery that could run a car, just something that's good and reliable, whatever the cost may be for one. I'm hoping to have a battery for 300 or less, but if that's too cheap, then I understand.

optionally, I'd also like to know if theres anything I should know about if I have to match certain types of batteries with certain motors/if the battery has to be compatible with a motor, or if any motor works with any battery. my apologies if theres any dumb questions here, thank you for anyone who gives me answers!

20 x 3 bike tires for e-bike

I need new 20 x 3 tires for my lectric 3.0 and they don't seem to carry them in stores. Any good tire recommendations? I'm thinking I should get the less knobby ones so they last. I only see 3 on Amazon my size.

E-ride Pro SS vs Talaria Mx4

I know this has been asked many many times but all of them were from a few months ago where the E-ride was still a newer bike. My question is which one is worth buying also are there more upgrades for the E-ride now or no?

Urban glide 100x max

Hello so yesterday i buy urban glide 100x max. Today i decided to bride so max was not 25kms but 35kms. I press brake then accelerator for 5 seconds and then power button for 5 seconds. But instead of two beeps, I heard only one beep and I think I activated another function. When I accelerate to 25 km the sound is heard and then without accelerator it goes normally. until you press the accelerator again.

3000 budget for an ebike

Recomendations? I currently own and ride a ride1up Roadster v2. I love it. It's lightweight, looks good, and it is fast enough. However, id like another ebike for different purposes. The roadster I'm using to commute to and from work and I have a small backpack to carry what I need. The commute is hilly. I usually ride at pedal assist 1 on flat and go up as needed for climbing with pedal assist 3 usually being as high as I need.

For a second ebike I want to invest considerably more money on. I'm thinking a cargo bike of some sort maybe(like specialized globe haul). Or a moped style like (ride1up revv1). The Ride1up Prodigy v2 or priority current/e-coast are others I'm interested in. For use I want something to make shopping easier. If not a cargo bike I want something with enough power to pull trailers uphill without extreme effort on my part.

Any recommendations?

I saved this bunny while on my eBike, what now ?

While biking in NYC by the belt parkway. I noticed a very weak 2-3 week old rabbit on the highway by the divider's. At first I thought it may be a NY rat. After looking for a minute I realized it was a stranded scared and weak bunny. So I saved it. I had the rabbit home 2 weeks now. It took 2 weeks to nurse him back to health. Now should I release him to the wild ? Kids want to keep him.

eBikes save lives.
