I want to plan a graduation trip for my daughter and a few friends in the summer 2026. I'm looking for a 2bdr for about 5-6 days, 2-3 park days. I own at Riviera so thats the logical choice. Any other great resorts to consider (great pools, refurbished rooms, optimal bathroom set up)?
Anyone think Grand Flo or Wildnerness Lodge is a better choice? I am not opposed to SSRS- we've stayed there and liked it. I love AKL as a resort, but the dark rooms wont be the vibe for this trip
I need to think about it now bc the # of points needed will affect how i spend my 2025 points
thanks!
Is there any place go see current direct prices, without calling DVC? My guide isn't with the company anymore and I am not looking to be sold. I just want a reasonable comparison between direct and resale. TIA
Just wanted to give a shout-out to the DVC member mods and reasonable rules here after I got a comment locked on the WDW sub for suggesting someone also ask their question about Old Key West on this sub by providing a link.
(To be fair, it is in their extensive list of rules which I hadn’t reviewed but it is crazy to feel like you are being reprimanded/did something wrong for trying help . . . which is my favorite part of both subs.)
Hey friends. Seriously considering doing a Villas next year. Non member here, also Ca CM if anyone happens to know when deals get released . Anyway Old Key West seems nice, and more affordable compared to others. Was curious about your favorite rooms you like. Little bit bout my group 5 adults and two littles 3 and 5. Thinking a two bedroom, I’m the Uncle so I’m perfectly fine with the sleeper sofa. Our plan is a day in the parks, a day break in between. Being close to a pool is nice, maybe if there’s some places to explore
Currently staying at VDH, and the past few days/nights I haven't seen this tinkerbell section lit up? This is my first time staying here since getting a contract so I'm curious if it even exists, or a concept art idea that never came to fruition? Another thought is that it's intermittent and shows up occasionally? Anyone have any insight? I feel like I'm losing my mind lol
On mobile; apologies for formatting.
I’m an IncrediPass holder (as are my family members) and just looking to branch out.
What are some things you wish you knew before staying at Disney’s Vero Beach Resort and/or Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort for the first time? What are some things in the area you enjoy doing/visiting? Favorite things about each resort? (And thoughts on Vero Beach Resort’s restaurant)
(Edit: Wording)
I don’t know who’s crazier: Me for wanting to buy Riviera resale, or sellers asking $150pp. I’m sorry you have to sell, but realize RIV is not sold out yet. You can buy direct at around $180pp for a 150p contract after incentives (which can come down when buying more points). Even $125pp resale is not enough of a discount to be locked into on Riviera for 50 years. RIV resale should be NO MORE than $110pp to account for the severe limitation.
At this point Riviera direct seems like the best option if sellers won’t budge. And most sellers I’ve offered won’t because they’ll be upside down on their loan.
Am I wrong?
I have have consumed tons of DVC content to educate myself before buying, but I’m still unclear on how many points I need to have at a home resort in order to book a stay at the 11 month window. For example, if I have 50 points at Grand Floridian and then bought, say, 150 points at Saratoga - can I use all 200 points to book a stay at GF at the 11 month mark? Assuming same use year on both contracts.
Or do I need 200 points at GF if I am booking a stay at GF 11 month out that requires 200 points?
We live very far away and travel during very busy times (Christmas, Spring Break), so the 11 month window is super important for us. There are certain resorts we want to be able to book at 11 months out, but I’m planning on buying resale and want to own as few points at the home resorts as necessary (due to cost per point at the resorts I’m most interested in).
Bonus: Thoughts on owning multiple contracts with different deed expiration dates?

Three more animal Kingdom dates for this year, plus a bunch of dates for 2025. I just booked in May, hoping I'll get in typhoon lagoon. Sounds fun!
I feel kind of stupid because I bought my DVC points direct at Aulani (the resort I’m most likely to visit) vs. resale. I’m thinking that might have been a big mistake based on what I am reading. I do love the experience part of Disney and don’t love the idea of being a second class member buying resale but it seems to make so much more financial sense. I’m really torn! I am also concerned about not being able to visit new resorts as they come as a commuter to Disneyland I want the option to use at the new property and future properties that may come.
Aspiring buyer trying to figure out what’s best for my family. If I buy 100 points at bay lake in re-sales and 50 at poly in re-sale can I only book 100 points 11 months in advance at bay lake and 50 at poly or can I book all 150 points at either resort at 11 months?
Lurking on these posts. We have come to Poly regularly since 2016. Every year we think that we will want to do something different in the future but we always come back.
We would want a week + at Poly every yeah the week after Labor Day. What suggestions from all the great posters here that have been so helpful?
Use Year? How many points? Resale vs direct and pro cons?
Hello, my dues are due on the 15th of each month. Is there a way to pay them early? If I wanted to pay them now on the 7th instead of the 15th? Thanks
We are going for 8 nights with a split stay.
What we want is to stay at Resort A for 3 nights then go to resort B for 5 nights.
Both resorts are will likely be near full at 7 months so we have to try and do it all on 7 month booking day.
How do we accomplish this? Any/All help is appreciated.
PS: We have never booked a DVC vacation yet, this is our first one.
We are a west coast family and would want to use points for Aulani and Grand Californian. Disneyland visits would be 4 night trips while I could see Hawaii visits being 5-6. I am thinking 300 points so we can get the 2br villas from time to time as well?
My question - can you stack points? Ie, if we bought 150 direct from Aulani and 150 resale for grand Californian, would we get the benefits of having two home resorts plus the discount card, AND have 300 total point to use in one vacation at one resort?
I assume we will want to do WDW at least a few times, so I’m also assuming we could use the points combined at those resorts once the non-home resort period opens up?
Apologies if these are silly questions, this is so new to me! Is there anything else I should consider?
I'm wondering if anyone has been successful buying a new (not renewed) Sorcerer Pass annual pass. We have had the Sorcerer Pass in the past but haven't felt an AP was worth it for the last few years. I'm considering buying it to be able to hit the parks for a half day after our Disney Cruise in November, with plans for a longer trip in the spring and/or early fall 2025. I don't see the SP available on the website - only the Incredi-Pass. Curious if anyone has been successful calling member services for a new SP AP. Thanks!
Edited: I'm dumb lol Once I logged into the WDW AP site it displayed the Sorcerer Pass as available for purchase.
We just discovered that the DVC lounge in Epcot is closed for renovations. We never saw an announcement on the website, nor did our “Welcome home” email say anything about it. Did we miss something?
Family of 6 from Canada. We were at WDW 2 weeks ago and went to a presentation at Riviera on the 27th August. Ended up buying 150 points for Riviera. Got home this week and reading over the contract we discovered we have a March UY. We often travel in July/August for 10 days minimum, Every other year(tied to Canadian school calendar). We opted to cancel our contract (still within 10 days) and are now considering resale.
Given our family make-up and preferred travel season, which resort would be the best for us to purchase at? We will be buying at least 150 points.
PS: We like Riviera but won't be buying it resale due to restrictions. We don't particularly care for Grand Floridian as it's too pricey.
TIA!
I know the ride opens November 15th for everyone else and was wondering if anyone has heard when they might be doing DVC preview. We will be at the grand Californian from October 14th through the 18th. Just curious and maybe a little hopeful we’ll get it ride it. Thanks a bunch.
Which one of the AKL dvc is located in the same building/lobby as the hotel? Is it Jambo and Kadani is its own separate building?
Hi all. Just a couple of questions about some logistics/technicalities of renting points.
Anything else I should know please make as aware. Thank you very much for your time.
So it's been a while since we were there without a pass. Our trip is 11/26-12/3. The travel days are washes but we are planning on getting 3 day tickets. In the past they could be used for 14 days but now I'm seeing only 5? We want to go 11/27, 11/29 and 12/2 which is my son's birthday but is that impossible? Seems ridiculous that we can't go when we want over our on site length of stay but so do many things Disney has done lol
Heading to the parks soon and wanted to get a limo service to pick us up, make a grocery stop and then on to the resort. Which service have you been happy with?
Is there trouble if you consistently rent out half your points? We are looking at a high point contract and wanted to make sure we were not setting ourselves up for trouble.
Hi all. Just looking for a little advice on making offers. I know everything is dependent on the situation but is it common to make offers below the asking price? If so are those usually successful? Any other advice on making offers/negotiating? Thanks
We are new members and planning our 1st DVC trip in November. We’re staying at bay lake tower. I would love to see the villains lounge, we don’t care about seeing the fireworks from there (we’re doing the MK dessert party one night) but would love to see the lounge and have a cocktail. Would we still have to pay the $89 per person to just go up for a drink around 6-7pm?
Hi all. Can somebody explain the following to me:
Thanks everyone.
I would love to get some clarity on my situation buying 160 points in AKL with a December use year.
Currently we are set to close on our contract in October (the contract we bought had an existing reservation that we need to wait on). The 2024 points aren’t available, but come December 2024 we should have 160 points loaded. From there, I want to book a trip for December 2025 using those initial points and then the points I get starting December 2025.
So if I’m understanding this right, I need to bank the December 2024 points and then use my December 2025 points to book a 2 bedroom villa at AKL. My question tho is if I want to, can I also borrow from December 2026 for this December 2025 vacation? If so at what point am I allowed to do so?
Thank you and sorry if this is confusing.
Hello!
I would love your input on a decision my wife and I are trying to make. We are a family of 6, currently own at BCV, and are considering adding on a direct contract (150 pts).
We’re stuck at choosing the Poly tower, RIV, and/or CFW. The cabins we would use the most (family of 6 math) but we’re afraid the dues will be a huge burden long term. But, if we don’t buy at the CFW then we risk not getting one during summer/winter breaks. What are your opinions?
Hiya folks, long time lurker, learning more and more about the DVC daily. I have a couple of questions I have for DVC owners (and people more knowledgeable than me):
1 ) The damn blue card. Something I want to have, but seems more and more difficult as time goes on. If I were to buy 150 points direct at VB/HHI, and added on 25 points (also direct, if that matters?) at CFW, does this mean the blue card will expire in 2042, or 2075?
2a) Is the 7 month mark competitive? As in, do rooms go quite quickly once the 7 month window opens up, or is it like a slow trickle?
Thanks everyone - this sub has proved very informative, and the discussions and help from members have been really insightful. I personally really appreciate you all helping not only me, but many others before jumping into a very very big "investment".
Just want to do a quick separate thank you to u/AgitatedCockroach862 for the original discussion and unique angle brought on yesterday that was really a wake up slap to how the resale market will end up.
