Going into my second season and curious about which waders to go with. I currently have some oversized cabelas that I got for fly fishing but need something that fits comfortably (8.5-9 shoe size). I’m looking at Tidewe Breathable waders but undecided on either neoprene or breathable. Any experience with them?? Much appreciated and hope yall have a good season. Located in Utah so that might help with deciding via weather conditions
Went out this morning on a hunt. The area is a marsh area off of the main part of the river. There are houses around but they are a couple hundred yards away. Got setup all is well. Started having mallards work in, called to them and immediately heard a .22 shot. Figured maybe someone is shooting muskrat or groundhog. More birds work in, multiple shots. Now it’s not seeming like it’s random. Gets quiet, see two mallards way off call, shot and this time the round zips over head and crashes off of the cat tails. Got on the phone with CO and they are investigating it. I don’t get why people are completely ok with shooting at a person because they don’t like them hunting. I’m a little pissed and it has turned me off of duck hunting for a while
My buddy wants to get into waterfowl hunting and thinks he prefers a semi auto. I personally have an Affinity 3.5 but I think that’s too expensive for him. Anybody have any cheaper semi auto recommendations?
So I got some Walker Razors for duck hunting in hopes that it’ll help with hearing protection, but for turkey hunting I noticed they just amplify sound but don’t keep the direction from where the sound is coming from. Does anybody know any hearing protection that diminishes gunshot sounds but allows you to still hear where prey are coming from?
I’m short 5’8 and fat (280s) and I can’t find any waders that are comfortable? All the ones I try for my shoe size don’t fit me up top. Any recommendations? I normally wear tidewe And before the roast fest starts I am losing weight I’m down 31 lbs since last year.
The lake is 10 miles long and this jackass decided he was going to fish the cove that I was duck hunting in. Pulled his boat within 25yds of my decoys.
Just found out a couple hours ago the MRGC (Middle Rio Grande Conservancy) will not be flooding the La Joya this year for waterfowl season.
Hey everyone just looking for some personal experience and opinions on the two shotguns mentioned above for a new duck gun. I’m looking for a 12ga and do not want a 3 1/2”. I’ve come down to these two let me know what you think.
Woodys are extremely rare where I’m from, is this a juvenile drake or just a dark hen woody?
Just picked up a 16 foot ensign, 15 horsepower merc, older boat but she floats and the motor runs. Trailer is a little questionable, just in the tires, but don't appear dry rotted. I'll be pulling her home today and I have an avian x a frame that i'd like to use for the time being. I may go to a boat specific blind if this doesn't work out as I intend. I'm looking for anything specific to look out for, has anyone tried this and run into issues before, besides tire pressure and bearing grease is there anything mission specific to just pulling this trailer home? TIA
Figured I'd try out a new spot with the dog. Incredibly unsuccessful haha. That's what I get for not scouting it thoroughly. Plus this lake is incredibly shallow with nothing but weeds, so I kept getting stuck every 20'. Had to use the push pole to get back to the ramp. Can't wait for the cold to kill a lot of these plants.

Anyone know of or have experience with brands having good Veterans Day or Black Friday deals on camo? I’m new to hunting and Sitka and Kuiu are out of my budget currently lol. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Hey everyone. I check out this forum a lot for info but don't believe I am a member. Anyway, I had a rough go of it this morning and wanted somewhere to talk about it and get some feedback. This is my first season duck hunting and while I haven't had much luck (only a few ducks since late september) I've enjoyed getting out and learning a new skill. I was out for a few hours this morning had a couple come to land in my decoys. Took a shot at one and it dropped to the water and started swimming as fast as it could across this pond. I took another shot before it was too far and it kept going. So I jump in my canoe as quick as possible and start paddling like a maniac. Against the wind no less. He was going for a big patch of grass across the other side. Eventually took one more shot from a good distance before it could get up into the grass. Didn't work. So I eventually get over there and go to hop out of the canoe. Everywhere I had gotten out while it was still dark and trying to find a decent spot was nice solid ground, didn't sink in more than a couple inches. So of course full of adrenaline I didn't bother to check before jumping out. This spot was not solid ground. Sank up to my neck and managed to grab hold of some of the grass and pull myself out. So now my waders are full of cold water and I turn around to assess everything. My gun fell out of the canoe somewhere in all of this... spent about 30 mins trying to dig around with a paddle after looking for the duck a little bit. I couldn't find either one. So now I'm out a gun as well as having crippled this bird that's going to suffer until it dies. I'll buy another gun, not a big deal there but I feel really bad about the duck. Lessons learned. As i said, just wanted somewhere to talk about this. Curious as to how many others have made some really dumb mistakes like this. Thanks for reading.
Was thinking about getting the rig em right lowdown backpack or a stump jumper. Don't have a stump jumper in stores near me. I have looked at the lowdown in person. Besides cost what are major differences? And have you had the chance to compare the 2
I'm in my second year duck hunting, no success yet and have a question about habitat. I'm well aware ducks are quite popular in marshes and swamps, wet environments basically, while geese are typically found in drier conditions such as fields and plains. Every once in awhile I hear people talking about hunting ducks in a field. I don't think I've ever seen ducks not on the water when I think about it. Do ducks use fields the same way and frequency as geese? I'd like your experience and opinions. I'm in Michigan if that makes a difference. Thank you.
I’ve never duck hunted but I have a row boat and a single barrel shotgun. I’m about to get my license and stamps required but I’m unsure about where to hunt. I live in South Texas and I’m thinking about hunting the coast maybe near port Mansfield. I’m looking for any tips and also wondering the laws on hunting from a boat. Do I need APH if I’m on the coast near or on wma? Can I just launch a row boat, boat to a marsh, and set up blind and decoys? I’ll have to call a game warden to get clarification but I’m curious if anyone who has hunted the Texas coast via boat has any experience they can share. Thanks!
