Question about getting started

Hi all! I'll spare everyone a long introductory post because those can be tedious to read through lol. I want to start my path in a scholarly way as that's really just something that brings me immense joy. OBOD and ADF both offer classes and membership and things of the like, but I was wondering which organization has a stronger preference? Can you technically join both? I want to pick one and see how I like it but I'm very torn over which to choose and any input would be very much appreciated if anyone has any experience with either organization!
Thanks in advance~

I have been invited to go on a pilgrimage to Ráth Cruachan in Ireland by ancestors and the Morrigan. Feeling honored.

I am deeply honored to be invited to undertake such a journey. At just turning 22 in a few weeks, I am amazed that I am going to do this at such a young age. I had anticipated being in college or working in an office by now, but instead, I find myself on a path that promises deep soul healing.

I recognize that this pilgrimage will both challenge and heal me profoundly. I am so happy that I have been called to do such a thing.

Are there any others here who have completed a pilgrimage or who are actively feeling called to embark on one? I would love to connect with others :)

Working on a Druid inspired orison. Looking for constructive criticism on my use of words, phrases, etc. The orison will be in the comments.

Starting my path 02

Today I focused on the Druid symbol for the Luis or Rowan tree. In the PNW known as western mountain ash. The symbol also means L in Ogham.

A haiku about Rowan.

Rowan berries red

Insight, protect and bless us.

Peace in balance found.

Starting my path

I’ve started a new path exploring modern Druidism, and I am working on a set of Ogham staves, this one stands for Birch or B.

I wrote a haiku about the Birch tree:

Birch - paper thin skin Rebirth and growth now begin hardy, my tree friend

Let me know if you like this & I’ll share more.

Could some faefolk be cryptids?

Hey everyone! I'm new to druidry and was reading The Book of Hedge Druidry. Faefolk were mentioned and it was interesting to read about! Anyways I was recommended r/skinwalkers and I came across posts talking about banshees, crawlers, and skin walkers. After reading about the faefolk I'm curious as if these possible cryptids are faefolk. Since I'm new to druidry I thought I'd ask the more experienced their thoughts on this. Thanks!

Which surviving of the Celtic languages is the best starting point into branching out into others and eventually into whatever we have left of the ancient languages?

I'm not sure which Celtic language of the 6 surviving ones to start with because I eventually plan to learn all the 5 others and later on delve into learning what we know of for the ancient extinct tongues since my primary reason for learning Celtic languages is because of an on and off interest into ancient Celtic religions due to a paranormal experience I had years ago which I prefer to keep confidential.

So which of the still existing language is the best foundations to gradually go into learning the others and eventually graduate into ancient and now extinct languages only known in functional form because of academia and scholars?

What did everyone make for Alban Eilir?

I made a peach-strawberry meringue pie and deviled eggs! I also made a cloak with a natural pattern on it made of cotton and wool 🙂

Full moon ritual

I am supposed to lead the full moon ritual in May and I am drawing a complete blank on what to do. My brain is currently fried due to my mother passing away in January. I would really appreciate some ideas.

I don’t actually belong to a grove. I belong to a coven of eclectic witches and I am the only Druid.

May your life be filled with love and laughter.

Blessed be

Edit: Thanks to everyone who commented and gave me ideas. Myself and others in my coven have felt out of balance since the new year so I decided to do a “restore the balance” ritual.

My toddler is a Druid!

I was out walking with my 2 year old son, when suddenly he shouted unprompted, "Dad, look at that big tree! Can I hug the big tree?!" I said yes, then he ran over and hugged it. It just made me so happy, I had to share with strangers on the internet.

Hello!

Hello everyone! Like a lot of people from the posts I’ve read, I’m very new here and to Druidism in general. I come from a loosely religious Christian/catholic upbringing turned to atheism a number of years ago, but felt called to Druidry recently and have felt an incredible spiritual healing from it. I found out a ton of information starting out both here and then from the OBOD, so a general thank you to this sub for helping me to find this path.

An odd question I can’t seem to find a solid answer for as well, I keep seeing stuff about naming ceremonies and I have no idea what it is, or if I should be thinking about that. Anyone have any knowledge to share there?

Thank you all!

New - hello!

Hi everyone!

I am relatively new to Druidism, I was raised evangelical but that never felt really me and since learning of druidism i’ve been really interested. I have adhd and i’m finding it really hard to know where to start and i get overwhelmed.I have a busy work schedule and want to make time for my spirituality but how do i start my practice? i also am interested in including magic in my rituals (also still haven’t done one - i get too overwhelmed with all of the information) what are your suggestions for getting started? rituals? general druidry tips?

I feel a tug from Goddess Brigid but not sure how to connect. I’m reading a book about her now!

Thank you in advance! 💚

What do you wear for ritual?

I've been practicing now for about a year and still have no idea what to wear to my groves rituals. I try to opt for nicer attire that I have that have intricate patterns, but for the life of me I can't find anything concrete that isn't some Halloween costume. Other people wear shawls and such, but I can't find one affordable and good quality. Any suggestions would be appreciated! I might be able to sew something simple if it requires so. I can also crochet something.

Edit: Thanks everyone who made their suggestions- and please leave more for any future ideas! Currently I'm making a cloak out of a brown thrifted blanket and some green cotton fabric with a leafy pattern on it, the pattern is here. I'm also crocheting some fingerless gloves to go with it. Someone also suggested recently to make something that is similar to the Bardic/Ovate/druid grade and I am working on a shawl for the Bardic grade, but it will probably take about 2-3 weeks before it's done, which is why I'm opting for sewing rather than crocheting something this big. Let me know if you want to see the final result photo!

Hi everyone! Quick question

As someone who is quite new to Druidism or the Druidic path I’d just like to ask everyone what is important to learn as a Druid or member of the community? I have heard people say divination with bird signs or something like runes which is what I thought it was but what I’m really trying to do is get a steady routine going as I’m clueless could somebody point me in the right path or list some things that you do or that I can do? Thanks everyone.
