I ordered a DJI Mini 4K from Amazon - Delayed at Customs. It's been in that status going on a week. Is this normal? DHL shows to be the carrier. Is there anything I can or should be doing?
I was looking for a drone with 4k 60fps video capabilities. Preferably, I'd also like obstacle avoidance, a minimum flight time of 25 minutes, and 5 mile range. I've seen recommendations for the DJI mini 3 pro and 4 pro but was wondering if there was a cheaper alternative with Cyber Monday sales that does not sacrifice quality and reliability. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. :)
Ok so I have had 4 4drc M-1 Mark 300 drones, 3 of the regular 1 of the pro. I have had great fun flying them, until recently. The 3 normal have all taken off at high speed until they crashed. There was no warning just they speeded up turned on port side and boom! Gone. The pro I can't get the camera to work properly as when I choose video it says its filming but when I run the video its a bunch of still shots, and the last time I tried the propellers wouldn't shut down. Any suggestions would be helpful. If you suggest a different drone stay in my price range $250. is stretching it. Thanks in advance and Merry Christmas!
So I’m looking at buying a drone for some one I know that does photography and short films. Now they don’t need anything crazy but something that at least has a decide camera for photos and videos. I have been looking at the spectra mini and the dji mini 4k which from what I can tell are the same drones. The only problem that I’m having is that spectra doesn’t seem to have any extra batteries for sale. I am worried that if I were to buy the drone and they figure out that they need two batteries they won’t have that ability, while paying a little extra would allow them to have that ability. What are y’all’s thoughts anything in for helps!
Hey,
I just got a drone for $130, but when I was flying with it I noticed that the camera quality is really bad. The site that sells the drone says that the camera quality is amazing with 4k 60FPS video's. I don't know of I need to change a setting in the app or is this just a faulty drone?
Model: LYZRC L900 PRO
Already thanks for the help!
Hi guys, I'm new to drones. I'm looking for an IP54 rated (or better) drones that's under $2k. camera can be built in or as a payload. Can anyone give me a list of options? I did some surface googling but most IP rated drones i found are so expensive. Thank you!
So I live downtown in a condo that overlooks a river valley. On the other side of the river there are three hospitals that have uncontrolled helipads on them. The entire downtown area is uncontrolled (Class E) airspace.
On Aloft Air Control, the hospitals are simply marked as Uncontrolled Helipads/potential hazards, and if I set my launch point to within the zone it still says I’m good to fly (same with Autopylot). However on the DJI Fly App, they are marked as “Warning Zones” (not enhanced warning, just regular). When I launch my drone off my balcony I do get a GeoZone alert from DJI alerting me to the presence of these warning zones.
I’ve been giving these a wide berth, but there is an iconic bridge a bit down the river that is in one of these warning zones. I’ve seen drone footage of the bridge before, and would love to get some shots of it, but I want to be certain that I’m allowed to do so beforehand. To be clear I wouldn’t be flying very close at all to the actual helipads/hospitals themselves - the Warning Zones on the DJI app seem to be quite generous.
Anyone knowledgable about this? It seems like I’m good to fly through these zones as long as I’m careful to give way to any helicopters, and tbh I’d be flying far below even the lowest possible flight path of any helicopters (and below the helipads themselves). Even then I’d check flightradar24 and only fly if there are no helis in the area. Just want some other opinions before I do so, thanks!
Hey guys,
My company is fairly new and we are trying to implement a Drone Pilot Program where we train our pilots. This is utilizing Line of sight and Beyond Visual Line of Sight. We are trying to make a push to acquire our Part 135. Here are a couple of my questions.
In the case of the drug program, I have seen that companies like WING have their own internal Drug Program. What does that look like though? Are the Pilots randomly drug tested? What if they are working on a sight where weed is legal? Are they allowed to smoke THC when not on duty? How often do these drug screenings have to be implemented?
In the case of Pilot Training, how in depth do we have to go for teaching? If they are hired with their Part 107 how much more in depth do we have to go to train them? I get that we should teach them emergency procedures and teach them how to deconflict airspace and all that, but what is the Pilot Training Program actually showing them? In the military what we were taught was different types of aircraft, vehicles and building structures. Now that we are not utilizing cameras, the only thing that I can think of teaching is regulations, making sure that we are adhering to FAA guidelines.
How difficult is it to obtain an Airworthiness Certificate? I know that it is necessary in order to start flying BVLOS and over people and stuff. We have proof of concept under Part 107 and we want to expand our fleet. Do we have to send a drone to the FAA? Do we just begin to build a maintenance manual and checklist? Any information would be extremely helpful!
Fly safe ladies and gentleman!
Hi, sorry I know this probably only apply to a handful of you but I don’t know where to direct my questions for Ireland specifically and it may be a silly question but any advice would be much appreciated. So I know for drones under 250g are classed as “A0” and I believe my DJI mini 4k falls under this category however if it has a camera that’s the IAAs way of circumventing the “249g!” marketing so while reading the requirements I have to label my drone with my registration number and the A0 insignia? Is that right? I don’t mind but with the Mini 4k having ‘mini’ in the name I’m not sure if the roughly 16 letter registration will fit. So I’m just wondering if I need to display the whole registration or is there the last X amount of letters or something like that I could do instead, as well as putting the classification on the drone too?
I’ve been experimenting with my drone, and I finally uploaded one of my favorite clips to YouTube. It’s a nature-focused flight that captures some incredible landscapes. I think this might be my best one yet!

My 13 year old asked for a drone with a camera for Christmas. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions. I have been looking up reviews and such online, but I’m not sure where to even begin as there are so many options and price ranges. He has experience flying them with a couple of his friends. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thank you!
What are the differences and what do people recommend. I plan on starting smaller with probably a mini whoop for inside, then move to a 5” drone from iflight.
Body: I’m building a drone with a unique frame (coaxial setup) and need to customize the flight controller.
Is Betaflight flexible enough for special frame configurations, or is ArduPilot better despite the complexity? I’m comfortable with coding but new to drone software. Which would you recommend?
Appreciate your insights!
Hello, I would like to replace the front sensors in my drone, and I found a new part on AliExpress. However, my sensors have the serial number AN00V46 SUNNY I2018, while the ones from AliExpress have the serial number TF0T07ATXD. I wanted to ask if anyone has tried using these.
Hi guys! I've been flying tinywhoop for a while now and absolutely love the acrobatic freedom and change in scale and perspective but I want to go further than 600m!!
I'm looking for the best range quad that I can get for under $1k aud (650usd) - hd is optional i can mount a runcam
I have the sky zone cobra x v4 and the radiomaster pocket elrs. Would love to not have to upgrade these but I knoththats probably not the case. I also have a triple feed antenna
I know this group doesn't care for toy drones from AliExpress and I'm not here to argue that, these were just meant to be toys to practice with so I don't fly $1000 into a tree (yes I plan on getting a DJI once I'm a bit more confident flying but I can't pilot in videogames let alone real life)
Over the last month and a bit I've had 5 drones disappear in shipping. No explanation just instantly refunded. I tried inquiring with AliExpress but they couldn't give me an answer. In the many years I've bought stuff from AliExpress I've never had a shipping issue but now 5 separate packages (each package also included other items) containing drones have all mysteriously disappeared.
Does anybody know if this is because of Australian customs? The only information I have is "shipment cancelled" and AliExpress only told me there was a problem with logistics so not super helpful.
Is it possible swap the stick control functions so that the left does everything the right does and vice versa?
They seem to have similar features and relatively close price points. Anyone have experiences or thoughts?
I finally bought one. After doing a bit of research, I decided this would be my first drone. I waited for over one year for the company to improve the prior model to have the 3 axis gimble camera (versus the ies tech which apparently is so-so...at that time..maybe that has changed too. regardless, I waited also for the drone to go on sale and got one for 322$USD, amazon, on black Friday. FLy more deal, with sd card, 3 batteries, parallel charger, extra set of blades, controller, and a bag. The best deal.
I got this model: DSDR04C
Now I have questions anticipating taking it for first flight..which I admit, I am bit anxious...I plan on doing several really easy test flights and exercises to learn how to operate the thing safely and hopefully not crash the thing. Been watching a ton of videos on how to best learn how to do this.
Q1: what is visual tracking?
this drone IS gps enabled, but apparently when I compare with other the ATOM SE, I get confused
tracking mode for the ATOM SE is gps
tracking mode for the ATOM 3 Axis gimble 4k GPS drone is "visual tracking".
so what is visual tracking and does the atom 4k GPS drone use GPS for navigation or not?
this is confusing to me. Is it that this drone uses GPS, but ALSO IN ADDITION employs a visual tracking enhancement for more precise flight navigation? which would make sense because standard GPS isn't really precision technology. I think for aircraft (modern wide body commercial) to navigate using precision GPS, means these aircraft are using more than 3 GPS satellites AND ground GPS stations for high precision in both lat long as well as altitude and attitude. A fundamental emhancement over what we experience with say, driving our autos with google maps.
Is that what this is? a means to gain more precise flight using some kind of visual tracking? I'm not sure I understand how this works? Does the drone actually measure objects through the camera in order to establish motion and precision? Am I wrong to consider that using accelerometers or even micro gyros integrated to a moving map would offer the same function? Or is this marketing hype? visual tracking? I don't understand what this means?
Q2: There are different reviews that suggest this drone does have obstacle avoidance. And other reviewers who say no. The official website makes no mention of obstacle avoidance, so I presume it does not. is this correct? Is this a big deal breaker for a newbie like me who has no experience flying in an around obstacles? I do not plan to fly it in the forest, or around building or anything like that. My object is to fly this near a river to get a nice overview of some fishing spots from a boat and shoreline. I have been doing this with binoculars and walking but there is alot of ground to cover and thought having a drone to plan out where next to have my adventure would be kind of effective.
Q3: how does the video get on my phone? is it automatically transferred in flight through the controller to my phone? or do I record on the SD card and then later upload it to my phone for replay, and edit?
Q4: What is a good video editing program that isn't going to cost me a fortune ? and possibly anything that is free to use, that develops decent video editing? I have an above average Windows machine and a high end Chromebook. I've never done any video editing, but am not looking to start a business or win any awards for video production. Just something that is easy to use, cheap or free and allows me to add my own music or voice over.
Q5: specs on this drone state it has a range of 6KM....Is this actually real world or are there limitations that I should know about. ?
for instance...I cannot imagine the controller would remain connected to the drone if it goes out of line of sight...like around a large building..or through a stand of large trees?
It would reason that live transmission of camera would also degrade quite a bit proportional to distance.
what is the real world expectations to maintain 720P live transmission? couple hundred yards with zero interference?
Q6: what are the quirks that I should know about this drone? anything buggy with the controller and app that I should be aware of ?
thanks for helping me out if you can touch on some of these questions and provide your feedback.
My drone has a voice feature that I can turn on and off that's used for voice commands but my question is if I turn it on will it also record the drones audio and also my voice if I put ear buds in for a voice over during flight videos explaining where I'm flying it to? If this question makes any sense and for further reference my drone is the TenssenX pro 4k gps drone im also curious if not only anyone who has experience with it but also some useful tips and tricks and how to edit the videos
Took about 4 hours to get it down but I got it back damaged free. Had to go buy a 24ft extension pole, duct tape a pool cleaning net to the end of it and then go rent a kayak just to get it back 🤣
