Dreampunk is dream music and art for underground people living in this new dream world reality. Atmospheric sound design, synth-heavy emotional leads and downtempo soundscapes. This is the soundtrack to the cyberpunk age in real-time.

Dreampunk is a music genre that was made in 2014 by HKE and Telepath. Initially starting out as a subgenre to Vaporwave, it found its own identity with Birth Of A New Day by 2814. A hugely influential album that set in motion the movement that would become Dreampunk.
Characterized but not limited to introspective themes love, loneliness, isolation, urbanization, and melancholy, along with futuristic motifs influenced by the cyberpunk genre. Using smooth and dreamy synths, along with foley to create a feeling of escapism for its listener.
Over the years this genre has grown incredibly diverse with a wide array of labels and artists that exploded out of the inception of the genre in 2014. In 2016 the newer generation of Dreampunk artists that had no familiarity with vaporwave came on to the scene. Artists like, Sangam, QMDx, w u s o 命, Kuroi Ame, Kagami Smile, Cryosauna, Ex Aquis, Rashida Prime, Droidroy, Yoshimi, CMD094, and so much more.
Dreampunk is music of the mind, where the main objective is to transport you into another world through suggestive narratives and concepts, with abstract, futuristic-sounding music for a new generation. Dreampunk is dream music for underground people living in this increasingly surreal dream world reality.

I have been an on and off fan of dreampunk since around 2017, while my last participation in the commumity was sometime in 2021, at which point I've moved away from it. I wanted to check out the current state of the community and have noticed a significantly decreased activity both in this subreddit, in the number of releases by the artists, and the amount of dreampunk events (at least online). I have a general feeling that the scene has lost a significant part of its activity. Is it just me? Was this activity in 2021 that I remember was due to Covid restrictions and a significant portion of people's lives taking place online? Did conversations and events got relocated to the real world? Or did the artists move on to other things?

I recently became a fan of HKE and want to make sure if I have the correct name for the type of music he makes.
An old Pad Chennington video about exploring what a Kanye West X HKE video is what led to me to r/vaporwave and ultimately this subreddit.
I bought some vinyl & cassette stuff on their website about 3 months ago and the order is still pending. The support isn't answering too, I've already sent like four messages
I've also noticed that their twitter is quiet, what happened?
sup dreampunks fellows, hope yall' are well and happy. this is my second favorite dreampunk record by far
this peace of art is so unique and i couldn't find other such climatic and vibefull album for a long time
do you know who really is behind this? anyone know any other works by this artist? I noticed that the title of that album and name of the artist i've linked has been changed by the years, but i don't remember previous ones. what do you think?
Droidroy isn't making music for a while as I know, so does somebody know the specific reason?
Hi, I want to get me tattooed "2 8 1 4", but I'm actually undecided on the font. Do 2814 prefer a particular font for their name?
