Anyone can help what do I need to write here? I want to play with grand prix 2
So….. was thinking today. With things like the ‘Atari Mini 400’ etc. etc. Why doesn’t someone come up with a mini ‘computer’ that has about 40 DOS games on it, a cute front end and market that as a stand alone device? Sort of a very ‘closed end’ DOS item — like the Atari Flashback(s) or something??
I'm trying to automatically mount a drive (C) when DOSBox-X starts. I have the file "dosbox.conf" in my /home/myname/.dosbox folder, and the following lines in the autoexec section:
[autoexec]
mount c /home/myname/dosbox/C
(the "C" is capitalized)
I can run the mount command after starting DOSBox-X, but the same line in the autoexec section of the dosbox.conf does not seem to execute. The answers I found through searching were several years old, and I couldn't see what I was doing wrong in any event. Any help is appreciated. This is on Ubuntu 22.04, for the record.
Hi! Can anyone tell me how im gonna Boot win10.img? I have tried so many times but it wont let me. What file i should Download? Any tips?
For those people use GNU/Linux distros and play DOS games on them, which DOSBox frontends do you use?
I'm new to DOSBox and I want to install Full Tilt Pinball on my Windows 10 machine. I've already tried installing it on Win10 and using compatibility mode, but it makes my screen pretty buggy (especially in fullscreen). I would like to install it like any other DOSBox game and have it run without running Windows 95 itself, just the game. Is it possible?
Hi guys,
i'm new to all of this (reddit, posting a thread and/or asking for advice online) so please excuse me for any misinformation or wrongdoings on my part. I'm an IT-Technician and currently working with dosbox for a customer of ours. With that being said i'll try to explain the challange i'm trying to overcome:
I'm having to work with dosbox for a customer, who is currently using an outdated DOS Programm on a old WindowsXP machine. The Software is for Optimizing woodcutting. Production machines are cutting wood and writing data into a shared directory. Said software (I'll call it OPTI going forward) is taking the data, optimizing how the machines can cut the wood more optimally to maximize output of cut wood. When optimizing is done
Myself and my colleagues are working on the network environment and migrating various things and processes. And for a big portion of said migration we need to replace the XP-machine, so we can promote the server domain. So for a while now i have been trying to emulate the old software in dosbox. I can emulate OPTI in dosbox (Version X) without any Problems but isn't running optimally. I am testing functions of OPTI and its not smooth. When giving a command in the Main Menu there is slight freezes (about 2 sec.) until the software picks back up again.
What i tried so far:
I'm no DOSBOX-Pro, by all means im happy i got it up and running so far, but nothing i try seems to make it better. I'm also not sure if i am missing something. For example: what are "emulated CPU-speeds" or "CPU-Type"?
Does anyone have a suggestion or an idea what i might be doing wrong/ could do better/ need to fix or change. I would really appreciate any help/ideas and/or information on the matter.
And again i'm really sorry, if i disregarded any guidelines or rules or offended anyone in any shape or form. I am very new to this.
Thanks in advance!!!
I wanted to try and see if I remember the startup sequence of a 747 in the good old 747-400 Precision Simulator. I installed dosbox-staging and loaded up the game. However, the mouse does not work as intended. If I open the menu I can see the mouse cursor in its default position, however, as soon as I touch the mouse the mouse cursor jumps to a specific spot in the bottom right of the window, with just a pixel or two of the cursor poking up.
If I set sensitivity=1, I can see this happening live. However I move my mouse, it creeps down and to the right. Once it hits the right edge of the window, it only moves down. Then it gets stuck in the bottom right, where I assume it fulfills some important galactic destiny.
It's not important. I can just not see if I remember this stuff. But I am curious! What could be wrong?
I'm using dosbox to mount an iso from a game, and launch windows 3.1 through which I can play the game. My dosbox config uses this code:
mount c "/home/gandalf/Documents/games/Dust/"
imgmount D C:/Images/dust.iso -t iso
C:
cd windows
win
Which loads straight into windows as shown here, at which point I can double click the game icon from within windows.

What I'd like to do if possible is bypass the windows portion and boot straight into the game, for some minor convenience addition. Would there maybe be something I could add to my config file to accomplish this?
I have Wacraft Orcs and Humans downloaded from GOG on my computer, it uses DosBox to run the game and I just found out today I can access the DosBox independently without starting the game.
My question is: can I use said DosBox to run other DosBox games I download, or is it better that I download DosBox separately?
I'm trying to use Dosbox X with a CRT and XP, but no matter what I do I can't get it to switch resolutions. It works perfectly fine with regular Dosbox, it'll switch to original resolution no problem when I go fullscreen, but Dosbox X will either use the desktop resolution, appear in the middle of the screen with no borders, or blank out the screen and display in the corner depending on the settings. I'd rather not have to manually switch resolutions, and original Dosbox is a much bigger pain to use than Dosbox X, so it'd be really nice to know if there's something I'm missing
Hello Does something tryed convert dos game for program Retro XBM Ps3 maybe split information How can do it ? When comes to me that play game direct in menu XBM without Retroarch...
Hi, I've gotten this far with playing sega rally but now I can't type or do anything. Is there something I'm missing or something I'm doing wrong?
Thanks
I'm trying to figure out how to emulate this game on the dosbox app.
I have dosbox installed and up to its command line. I have mounted my game folder that has a DSK file of the game I want to play. when i type "run *title*" , i get an "ILLEGAL command: run." error. I'm not sure if this is the incorrect command or if i have the wrong file type installed. I could only find the game on internet archive and this one seemed to be the best fitting.
please let me know if you have any tips
What are the typical settings that you might need to alter the first time you are booting up a game in DOSbox Pure?
I have 3 examples myself that could help others out and that show what kind of advice I'm looking for.
- When the speed of the game is not correct, it can be fixed by choosing another "computer" with different cycles under: Retroarch > Core options > Performance. I learned that the Pentium 100 MHz, 300 MHz and 600 MHz often give good results for the later games ('94 - '98).
- If a game does not boot correctly and you are unable to change its ingame settings (like you would see on a real computer in the menu of the game itself), you can sometimes choose the "settings" file in the folder of the game instead of the "run" file or the file with the game's name. Then select "save and start game" or a similar option to start the game.
- If one of your favorite games doesn't work, try finding another rom. I tried out 3 different roms for some games where only one of them works. I get good results when I convert the eXoDOS roms using eXoConverter.
I'm still struggling with a lot of games though. I wonder if there is some basic advice that always comes in handy when setting the controls and if using unzipped games has better results than .zips?
I want to download DosBox on my Mac, but I don't know what version I have to download.
I'm using MacOs 10.14 Mojave on an Intel i5 Mac mini.
Edit: I know nothing about this so please be clear and simple, don't just drop a list of things.
Uhh when i try to mount a directory it crashes the app helpppp
Yo people when i launch the dosbox 3ds homebrew by Mr huu ( https://github.com/MrHuu/dosbox-3ds?tab=readme-ov-file ) And click start to launch it it tells me "cant allocate memory of 16MB"
I have a game downloaded from Abandonware, the install.exe works but there’s no sound when I play. They said to use DOSBox but I don’t know code and when I use the interface it won’t let me add the unzipped file as a DOSprofile with install.exe in it and all other game files. I can play the game just fine when I open install.exe but with absolutely no sound.
So I got a game from a buddy , it’s only an .exe And it automatically loads up with dosbox. I’ve seen some other forums about this problem but I’m not the best with computers, so hoping someone could help me out with any advice? I need the shift to crouch in the game so it’s definitely needed lol
i'm trying to run windows 95 with dosbox, and all of the tutorials ive seen show it running perfectly upon startup, but for me all it does is display a loading screen and then turn black. idk what the problem is, and im not sure what to do differently.
When try to execute the setup.exe program for Doom 2 like so:
dosbox /home/username/.dosbox/doom2/setup.exe
I am sent to the autoexec.bat which is expected, but the program does not run.
Is there a way to correct this?
EDIT: I should clarify "not running:" the command prompt does not open the setup program; it just sits there as if I didn't do anything.
Hi,
I'm trying to get one of these two games running (on windows 7)
https://www.myabandonware.com/game/a-force-more-powerful-the-game-of-nonviolent-strategy-dwn (error message : D3D renderer creation failed)
https://www.myabandonware.com/game/people-power-the-game-of-civil-resistance-dwm (error message : damaged installation file)
I would be grateful if anyone could give me a hand.
Best,
Hey guys,
So I’ve successfully followed the instructions on this page here (specifically the directions from RJ) and was able to install and play the game just fine. However, I’m struggling to figure out how to run the game again after it’s been closed. Can anyone help?
I think I just don’t understand how CDROMs work here yet.
The original DOS version of Command and Conquer does not detect version 0.74-3-5build2 of the vanilla DOSBOX build. I am currently running Linux Mint 22 Wilma.
When I mount it, for instance, mount d /media/username/gdi for the GDI disc, #1, the command prompt will say "MSCDex limited support," and #2, the C&C program does not detect the disc.
Here's the command I used:
mount d /media/username/gdi -t cdrom
Is there something that I did wrong?
