/r/doowop
As a musical genre, doo-wop features vocal group harmony with the musical qualities of many vocal parts, nonsense syllables, a simple beat, sometimes little or no instrumentation, and simple music and lyrics. It is ensemble single artists appearing with a backing group. Solo billing usually implies an individual is more prominent in the musical arrangement.
The name Doo-wop is given to a style of vocal-based rhythm and blues music that developed in African American communities in the 1940s and achieved mainstream popularity in the 1950s and early 1960s.

Kenny Vance produced this doc that has aired in the New York area but I missed it. Doesn’t appear to be playing anywhere local. Anyone know anything about it?
I’m a fan of doo-wop music, although admittedly I have not actively sought out new doo-wop artists before. There are, of course, the occasional old timey remakes I stumble upon on YouTube, but nothing doo-wop.
Does anyone have recommendations for new artists?
I was going down rabbit holes of my favorite groups and learned that Janet Vogel took her own life at 37. Please enjoy this song in her memory. She truly had the voice of an angel.
Theses are the same guys that sang “love me”
I like the bass in this one

I'm curious if there any parts of the world that still listen to or even dance to American doowop music!? And if so- who is their favorite? Let's not forget who coined the term "rock & roll is here to stay. It'll never die" !!!! 😊😊😊😊
Hey guys,
I've been struggling to find a good online community to talk about this kind of music with because it is quite an obscure genre to be interested in, and was wondering if any of you would like to join a discord server that I've created to host a community of fellow oldies fans to share stuff and just have a spot to discuss Doo Wop and Rock % Roll.
If you've never used discord it's just a messaging app that is made for talking with people in communities about shared interests.
Here is the link, let me know if this is against the rules moderators and I'll take it down if neccecary
