Hi all, I’m here in the UK wondering if a donut business is a viable venture these days?
A local donut/coffee shop closed recently due to stop selling donuts and people stopped going and it couldn’t survive as a coffee shop alone.
I never got a complete answer to there demise but it sounded very much like a lockdown business which initially thrived, took on too many staff etc and didn’t price correctly. The donuts were too cheap apparently.
If done correctly should there be money in the concept or would it be better suited to a market stall type business?
Andy thoughts would be appreciated.
My go to spot after working out 🤣. Seriously, donuts are why I go to the gym

Another donut try! I attempted a cranberry cake donut, with some advice from u/broken0lightbulb.
This time I substituted some concentrated cranberry juice into the recipe, also folded in craisins. The glaze is white chocolate with orange zest.
I think they smell incredible and taste great. I didn’t get as much cranberry flavor as I wanted, but this is still a great start.
Any other unique flavor suggestions?
Been a minute since a posted but I’ve been steady trying new flavors. Wife wanted me to try these crème brûlée ones, people at the dinner we went to really enjoyed them but I’m not a fan; kind of one note to me. The apple cider ones were my favorite and the first time I tried cake donuts. They turned out pretty great!
Going forward, I want to try making more flavors of cake donuts, but I also want to use the same basic recipe I have for the apple cider ones. For example, I love the texture of this donut, so I want to use the recipe to make a chocolate cake, pumpkin cake, etc. Any tips for tweaking a recipe?
We have a large stainless steel clam shell glazing table with the glazer but one of my employees injured her shoulder and I feel it’s too heavy for her with a sore shoulder. I have had no luck finding this! I saw it on a tiktok if anyone knows what it’s called or where I can get one please let me know! I need a smaller but still efficient way to glaze donuts. We glaze about 150 donuts a day so dipping them would not be an option.
