News, Events and banter from Donegal, Ireland
/r/Donegal
I'm originally from Letterkenny but my partner and I live in Belfast and this is our first year spending Christmas at home together in Donegal. Because of a birthday, we'll be home from the 21st and I'd really love to show him the best of Donegal as we haven't gotten to spend a lot of time exploring other than the odd July bank holiday in the summer.
We've been up to Malin and over to Wild Ireland in Muff, and I'm forever in Rathmullan so I'm looking to see if anyone has any suggestions for different places, beaches etc to go over Christmas that isn't so cold and wild that we'll end up going out for 5 mins and getting our bollix frozen.
What's the radio station on 104.0 MHz? It's a loop of country / gospel music.
It's definitely not Shannonside (104.1 MHz). It's not Ocean FM, Highland or Spirit FM. (Put two radios on, one at 104.0, the other at those stations, it's different music.)
Found it by accident because I was seeing if I could get Shannonside on 104.1 MHz. I double checked with the live audio player on the Shannonside website that it's definitely a different station. Shannonside had a sports talk show on at the time.
EDIT: It now seems to have been switched off. Was on air evening of 2nd Dec 2024.
Why does Letterkenny have so many foreign people ?
How do you charge your car there ?
.
So the game is you type into your text box "I am from Donegal but" and then you use the middle box of the three suggested words to type you a sentence
Saturday 7th Dec, Manchild flies over from Manchester straight from the gig where he's supporting John Digweed to play a headline slot for us at The LoT in Bennigans Bar, Derry. We also have long-time Derry house and trance DJ, Darren Mc Menamin to play a set for us in supporting slot. Kicking off the night, we'll have Mickey McCauley and myself, Rico building up the dancefloor vibes.

Does anyone know if the flooding in Pettigo has cleared yet? Driving through later
Donegal was never mentioned as having a weather warning before the big storm yet it was one of the worst affected.
What are the chances the flight from Dublin to Carrickfinn doesn’t go for weather reasons. Theres a decent wind forecast over the weekend, does the service get cancelled often ?
Anyone know someone to repair a leaky roof in LK?
Hi
My Fathers family were farmers from Creeshlough and we spent our Summers there as kids. His postal address was Knocknafaugher and his house was right beside a lake.
on the mountains at the back of his home place, we could see the ocean and Tory Island.
Such a beautiful, happy place.
i was wondering if anyone had any photos from that area?
his local pub was a house!! Hughie was the proprietor and he would head on to bed leaving the locals to pour their own pints and trusting them to leave the money on the counter! Amazing place, I’ve never come across anything quite like it since!
Hi guys, saw there was a good response to my post about organising a social meet-up in Letterkenny, so just wanted to suggest that we set up a WhatsApp group chat for anyone interested in going. Message it you want to be added to the chat.
I don't finish my own work until 10pm that day, so it's up to everyone else whether they want to meet in advance of that, or we just hold off until around 10pm to meet.
I am 25 and seeking to reinvigorate my spoken Irish, does anyone have any advice/recommendations on classes? Preferably in or around Letterkenny
I just seen this person running in the elections in the donegal area. I wanted to know what you thought of him and would you vote for him in the election on the 29th
Anybody fancy getting a social meet-up going some weekend evening in Letterkenny, in one of the local pubs? Went to similar meet-ups in another city, and it was a good way of meeting people local to the area. If there's enough interest, can put down a location, day and time. And can try organise different things to do outside of going to the pub, in time, if there is enough interest for that.
Hi everyone - does anyone know anyone who delivers home heating oil from the North to Donegal? Around the Muff area. Thanks in advance!
As the title suggests, I would love to know what curry sauce was used in the Grill chippy back in the day. I’ve never been able to recapture the subtle fruity taste! Would anyone know the brand of curry sauce used?
Hi is there any way I could rent a guitar for weekend (Friday 22nd to Monday 25 November) in Donegal? Happy to pay deposit. thanks, Mark
On January 1925 a train was passing over this viaduct when strong winds blew the train off the track, 4 people died most other passengers were injured, I can’t imagine the bravery of the local people and emergency services working to save the people in the winter storms.
