TYT MD-750 problem

Hello, I have a pair of MD750 radios by TYT and haven't used them in a long time, today I went to reprogram them and when I read the radio it asks for a password. I forgot what the password is that I used and tried everything from all zeroes to 0-9 and everything else. No luck. I was told if I just update the firmware it will wipe the password but I've been searching online all day and I can't find the damn firmware for the MD750.

Does anyone know where I can find it or have a copy of it that you can email to me?

Thanks.

Downloaded suggested drivers Zip file from buytwowayradios.com but it won’t install.

Anyone have same /similar problem?

Want a DMR radio. Is there any benefit of a Anytone AT-D878UVII Plus over a Anytone AT-D168UV or Radioddity GD-168?

Looking to create a local hotspot for DMR and DSTAR

How do I go about doing this? I've got a small data center (4 rack cabinets, 1 telco rack) and plenty of power to setup a small spoke. I'm a noob when it comes to this stuff as my last involvement with hamster radio was about 11 years ago.

Easy to use/program, DMR, dual band, usb c, unlocked, encrypted radio?

I’m trying to upgrade our radios and id like to find something that’s easy to use and program, DMR, dual band, usb c capable, unlocked for other band use, encrypted and preferably waterproof. We have the ailunce a2’s, anytones, mturbos, hyteras, all have their pros and cons and none are perfect. I’m still searching for that Goldilocks radio. I thought I found it with the tyt md uv 390 plus but it looks like it’s a bit older and oos at reputable retailers. Only seeing it from China resellers and reading mixed reviews that they’re not legit. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

DMR Set up - Brandmeister Vs Interstate

I am new in DMR and I am not sure what or if I am doing something wrong. There are 11 DMR repeaters 25 miles around my house. 10 of them are part of the "Interstate Repeater Network" and only 1 being Brandmeister. I can connect to the Brandmeister one no problem, confirmed I hit it with parrot, and made a contact on contact 91, World Wide. When I try to connect to any of the Interstate DMR Routers, I dont get an error, I transmit, but I dont hear anything. I can't even get Parrot to work. Do different DMR repeaters have different setups? I don't know if I am doing something wrong, or just no one is on and listening....is there any way I can check?

Also, on interstate, WW is 1, and on BM its 91...If I contact 1 while on BM, does it not do anything? The contacts are unique to each system? Thanks!

Kenwood NX-3300 Programming

Is there a way to retrieve the codeplug from an NX 3300 without paying for a $200 license? Does the software let you retrieve settings without the license and only require it for saving?

Thank you!

Dual-band, rugged, FPP handheld?

New to DMR, and having a hell of a time finding a DMR handheld that fits the following criteria:

  1. AES-256 encryption, interoperable with Motorola and other major brands.
  2. Dual-band FM analog capability, and should cover the entire ham bands for VHF and UHF. Ability to transmit and receive GMRS in an emergency is a big plus.
  3. Rugged construction (mil shock rating is ideal but not required).
  4. IP 67 waterproof.
  5. Front panel programmable - need to be able to at least add new frequencies/channels/talk groups, etc on the fly, without access to a laptop. VFO would be a plus but would settle for a workaround like having a "spare channel" whose frequency I can edit using the keypad.
  6. Field-rechargeable via USB-C from a solar panel or power bank - ideally direct to the radio or OEM battery, but third-party battery packs, chargers, or adapters are acceptable.

Budget is ideally around $300-$500, but willing to go up to $1K for a quality radio that meets my needs.

Most of the suggestions I've come across do not meet one or more of these criteria. I don't see dual-band offerings from Hytera or Motorola, and the Anytone/B-Tech offerings are not rugged or waterproof. The Ailunce HD2 looks like it fits the bill, but I'm seeing reports of spurious transmissions from those? Also just stumbled across the TYT MD-UV390, but those seem to have their own quality issues.

I know that I'm looking for something somewhat niche (ham + commercial features), but hoping this actually exists and someone here can point me in the right direction. In particular I'm wondering if there's something higher-end that just doesn't get recommended a lot on the internet due to the price. Alternatively, maybe there's a radio that could be flashed with open-source firmware to fit my needs? Haven't really explored that route yet.

Thanks in advance!

program different radios HEEEELP

Hello, I have a question that I have been pondering for a long time.

is there any way to transfer contacts, talkgroups, channels and zones fairly painlessly between different radio brands.

in my case i have a tyt 9600, radiodditygd-77 and a radioddity gd-77.

I'm going crazy typing everything manually.

yes I've tried chatgpt but I wouldn't call that painless.

thanks in advance for any replies -_-

Silent heartbeat(?) signal from repeater

My radio club recently fired up a Motorola SLR5700 repeater, and we’ve been messing with configuring it for the past couple weeks. Something I’ve noticed with this repeater that I didn’t notice with our other Hytera repeater is that it seems to periodically send out some sort of signal that my HT will pick up and flash the receive light, but there won’t be any audio with it. My guess was that it’s just some sort of “heartbeat” signal to check if you’re in range of the repeater, but I’m curious if it serves any other purposes.

Mmdvm 2W display issues

Started my DMR journey with a mmdvm hotspot and a dual hat duplex. Bought the parts for and assembled two more mmdvm simplex units. All three are running the same pi 2W boards.

I have run WPSD dashboard since the beginning, and I had one instance early on of my duplex display going out but the hotspot still functioning normally otherwise. Saved the config, reset the unit and put config back in and got the display back.

These additional two units I just built have acted similarly. Once I finally got unit #2 up, it had to be reset as mentioned above and the screen came up. It has disappeared a few times since but came back on its own.

Unit #3 must have a bad display. I can't get it to come on no matter what, even though the unit works as it should. I even installed the original pi software today thinking maybe it was WPSD, but still no display. I have some replacement displays on the way to swap in, but I am still not confident that they will fix the problem. I'm not 100% sure unit #3 display is bad, given the unpredictability of the others.

Are these units always like this? Just seems like there are a lot of little things that they have issues with. I can't help but think this causes many people to give up on DMR early on. Not even going to get into all the other little things that get very tiring to hassle with. I'd like to have a DMR radio on all the time but it has been a character building experience so far.

How to run several mmdvm hotspots at once?

I originally had one mmdvm hotspot. I just built two more. I don't think there will be any reason to run them at the same time, and for now they are all set up on DMR.

In the event that they are all on at once, will they each have different ip addresses? Trying to figure out how making changes could or should only affect one instead of all three...

Successfully u/g'd to GD77 but...

I successfully u/g'd to GD77 but...

It was working fine this afternoon, I checked busy analogue channels & TG91 World to ensure I could hear traffic, then I did something - I don't know what. The screen showed a contact at the top of the screen & a TG underneath it. Using the rotary knob, I could change the TG but not the contact at the top, and when I key the PTT, a count-up timer would show 0 then 'timeout'. Any help will be gratefully received - (edit) I've added a photo below

Call TG9 from "outside"

Hello DRMhams, So I'm starting to understand the timeslots, TGs, and other aspects of DMR. However, it's still not clear if I could link a particular Brandmeister repeater's TG9 (local) talkgroup to another repeater/hotspot. Is that possible?

Getting back into DMR and have a simple, basic question..

I got my Pi-Star hotspot up and running a few years ago and want to get back into it. Where can I find the list of Talkgroups and their time slots and colorcodes. I.e.talkgroup 31068 Northern California, colorcode 1, repeater slot 2 (assuming repeater slot is the same as time slot). I have been all over the Brandmeister site and can see everything about the people online, but not what I need to check my existing code plugs and add more. Repeaterbook is just giving me the local repeaters that support DMR. Sorry for such a basic question, but certain things you just can't recall after a few years.

I also posted this in r/amateur radio before I realized it should go here, so it's a double post. Hope that didn't break any rules.

Ailunce HD1 not picking up DMR after progprogramming

Ok, so couple things to note:

  1. I've been programming radios for years and specifically DMRA for a couple months so I know the basics.
  2. Radios still pick up analog signals
  3. Radios have been factory reset and been re-uploaded with working programs several times.

So now to the main point, last night after testing out a new program with a repeter, the radio seems to have lost the ability to pick up DMR signals, as during testing pressing the PTT the radio either would not pick up the new signal or would pick up an analog signal on the other frequency programmed or other random analog signals. Not really sure why this is as I've never had this issue before. I'm wondering if either internal component got damaged, software has an issue or if there is something that I'm missing. I checked the Frequency range locked settings and that also appeared to be incorrect after I uploaded the new programming. Obviously these are mildly expensive Radios and they are relatively new <1 year as of right now. If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate the help if not then I guess I have to get some replacements unfortunately.

Update radio appears to be bricked, analog channels only transmit garbled sounds and have sever interference.

Brandmeister Connection Problems

I cannot get my MMDVM hotspot to connect to Brandmeister - the device shows as red in Brandmeister selfcare - I have checked and the security password is set in Brandmeister and the hostpot as the same password.

See below log from the hotspot when I try parrot:

M: 2024-11-04 23:22:57.091 Mode set to DMR
M: 2024-11-04 23:22:57.333 DMR Slot 2, received RF voice header from MYCALLSIGN to 9990
M: 2024-11-04 23:22:59.791 DMR Slot 2, received RF end of voice transmission from MYCALLSIGN to 9990, 2.5 seconds, BER: 0.5%, RSSI: -57/-47/-47 dBm
M: 2024-11-04 23:23:19.958 Mode set to Idle

It's frustrating as I had it working previously but it seems to have stopped working for no reason, I have also checked and I have the most recent updates as well so that's not the issue.

Hytera help. Does the hp682 or 602 have “programming mode”?

Hey everyone trying to get into dmr and radios, have a new hp682 and 602 bought from Atlantic radio along with the correct cable and cps NA2. When in the cps the software is not picking up the connection port/cable to the radio. Should there be a program mode I need to be in. Manual didn’t state it or can’t find it. Hopefully y’all can help. Ty

TYT uv-md390plus - not TX’ing DMR

I have my local repeater plugged in with CC1 and I have the WW91 TG and a few more including PARROT. My analog repeaters are working fine. I get the tone about a second after I hit PTT, but I’m unable to get it to receive or transmit anything on DMR. I also set up local 9 on TS2 for the repeater, and neither me or my buddy’s radio hear from each other. The repeater is 1.3 miles from our location. I think it has to do with that microphone and red dot logo on the bottom right. I can’t figure out what that means.

My next DMR radio

Ok.. I know.. this has been done before.. but I would respectfully request some input.

I have my General license, so I spend most of my 'radio time' on HF, but I do like DMR radios for their versatility. I have 2 DMR radios: 2 Baofeng DM 1701s using the original OS. I had already built out an extensive code plug and have not seen any major benefit to OpenGD77 (if there are 3-4 major benefits, please feel free to educate me on why it is preferred). They are great little HTs, and my EDC right now. They have limitations- Older, less memory for contacts, less feature-packed (but I got them both at the $60 price point from Aliexpress so how can you refuse that.. 2 DMR radios for $120).

I have 2 Radioditty DM-25D radios. One is in my truck and one is at home as my UHF/VHF base radio. It works great and paired with my MMDVM hotspot.. perfect (I can also reach a nearby DMR repeater, so I have that if the wifi goes down).

I originally purchased the Radioditty GD-88 as my first DMR HT, but was INSTANTLY dismayed at the fact that you cannot simply type in a memory channel and go to it. I find that insane. If I have a huge zone programmed and want to jump to memory 34 and I am on 14.. I have to spin the dial.. on the DB25D and the DM1701.. just type 034 and boom.. channel 34. That just seemed really stupid to me, so I sent it back. Radioditty was fantastic and gave me zero issues.

So.. what's next. As much as I love my DM 1701s.. and plan to still utilize them.. I would LOVE to upgrade to a more feature rich and better DMR HT.

The choices: 1. go back to the GD88 and learn to live with that stupid issue (bonus because my codeplug for the DB25D would just load right onto the GD88. 2. BTECH DMR- 6X2 PRO. I am not afraid of Btech/Baofeng radios.. its seems feature packed and Miklor feels it is a superior radio to the Anytone 878UVII Plus. 3. Go fanboi and buy the Anytone 878UVII Plus which seems to be very popular and beloved.

For those who have owned or own the 6X2 Pro and / or 878UVII Plus.. what are the major differences... if any? Is there a feature on either radio that you use all the time that you love.. or that you have found to be the most useful?

Ideally I would love to have a DMR dual band radio with 6m and 1.25 attached.. like the Wouxon KG-Q10H quad band hand held.. only with DMR on 2m/70cm.. One radio to rule the world!
