🍌Nana Custard - Banana Custard by TBD Liquids

    https://imgur.com/fW4v9yp

    #Nana Custard

A delectable banana cream custard supported by a savory graham cracker crust.

    The Story:

As 2015 wound down, the vaping world was in the throes of a "custard craze." With box mods growing more powerful by the day, airflow designs expanding, and coils becoming ever more intricate, us hobbyists reveled in the era of cloud chasing. Custards were the rave; it seemed daily someone claimed to have concocted the new reigning king of custard.

However, there was a hitch—I wasn't a fan of custards. 😂 The heavier, richly egg-and-milk infused varieties made me feel queasy, and I couldn't imagine using them as my all-day vape. Amidst a landscape where brands competed to outdo each other with increasingly rich custards packaged in opulent glass droppers and sold at soaring prices, our approach remained grounded. We opted for practical plastic bottles and home-printed labels—no frills, just quality and consistency.

Determined to forge my own path, I decided to rework one of our top sellers at the time, Monkey Juice, into a banana custard that I could actually enjoy. The journey was fraught with trials and numerous failures. Struggling with my aversion to the typical egg-and-milk flavor profile, each failed attempt was harder to stomach than the last.

Then, breakthrough—it was perfect. After many trials, I finally crafted a banana custard that was both delightful and digestible, striking just the right balance to delight even a custard skeptic like myself. This creation wasn't just a personal victory; it marked a new direction for our flavors, one where uniqueness and personal preference triumphed over market trends.

"I can tell you that they really nailed it. This one is phenomenal."

###"I've been vaping the t*** off this in my Zephyrus and I just can't get enough of it"

    Source: Youtube Review

That’s right, we had officially entered the Custard game. 😎

The buzz was electric—our Reddit reviews were glowing, sometimes even surpassing our expectations. We chose not to sell in stores, preferring instead a direct-to-consumer model that kept our operations more intimate. This connection to our customers wasn't just a business strategy; it was the heart of our brand. We lived by the pulse of community feedback, which not only sustained us but pushed us to innovate continually. Each rave review was a testament to our commitment, and every constructive critique a chance to refine and excel.

Inspired by this journey and the community that supported us every step of the way, I'm thrilled to now share the secret behind Nana Custard. For all the DIY enthusiasts out there, whether you’re a seasoned mixer or just starting your first batch, this recipe is for you.

Here’s how you can make your very own Nana Custard:

This recipe is also available on AlltheFlavors.

    • Vanilla Custard (CAP): 4% - The flavor was originally developed using V1, you can opt to use this more flavorful version if you don't mind a bit of diketone content. We swapped to V2 by mid-2016 due to all of the diacetyl concerns going around at the time.
    • Banana Cream (LA): 6% - This might not be the colorless version like we used. Dashvapes has the colorless version. Colorless will be easier on your coils/pods. I have a ton of this on-hand and can ship anywhere, just hit me up on my supporter page if you need help sourcing any of these.
    • Graham Cracker (Clear) (TFA): 4%
    • Cookie (FA): 1%
    • Sweet Cream (TFA): 1%
    • Sweetener (TFA): 0.5% - You can use Capella's Super Sweet at 0.25% if you already have that.

And that's the secret sauce—or should I say juice?—behind Nana Custard.

Now that you have the blueprint, it’s your turn to play mad scientist. Mix it up, make it your own, or even start a custard revolution from your home. Who knows, you might end up creating something that puts my concoction to shame! Share your creations, disasters, and everything in between. Let’s keep our coils buzzing and our taste buds guessing.

    - John

After being forced by the FDA to close my small business last year, I now share my recipes openly, relying on the kindness of supporters to sustain my craft. If you've enjoyed my creations, consider buying me a $3 coffee . Your generosity enables me to continue sharing recipes freely while offering early access to new creations and exclusive DIY content through my supporter page. 🌈Rainbow Candy🍬 - Taste the Rainbow by TBD Liquids

    https://imgur.com/Fy05FX4

To kick things off, I'll dive straight into the recipe, saving the historical backdrop and the series of events leading to its creation for later. This might just be the simplest recipe I've ever shared, yet it's remarkably effective. There's sometimes a misconception within the flavor making community that complexity is synonymous with quality, but my experience has taught me otherwise. With the right ingredients in the correct proportions, crafting a beloved concoction is not only possible but straightforward.

    #🌈 Rainbow Candy Recipe 🍬

    • (WF) Strawberry Gummy Candy: 7% - This flavoring really is our base, imagine biting into a skittle without the flavored shell. That sweet & fruity white core.
    • (CSL) Rainbow Candy: 7% - This is our top note, it's what tells you that this is a skittle.
    • (CAP) Super Sweet: 0.5% - Just to sweeten things up since this is a candy.
    • Recommended PG/VG for Pods: 63% VG / 37% PG

After being forced by the FDA to close my small business last year, I now share my recipes openly, relying on the kindness of supporters to sustain my craft. If you've enjoyed my creations, consider buying me a $3 coffee . Your generosity enables me to continue sharing recipes freely while offering early access to new creations and exclusive DIY content through my supporter page. 🍓🥛Dragon's Milk - Strawberry Dragonfruit Cream by TBD Liquids

    https://i.imgur.com/fNEa6vo.jpg

#Dragon's Milk... where to begin? This recipe was born from my pursuit to recreate the unforgettable essence of Suicide Bunny's Sucker Punch.

While many vapers were captivated by Suicide Bunny's renowned strawberry custard, Mother's Milk, it was the elusive allure of Sucker Punch that truly resonated with me. Suicide Bunny, led by the visionary "Pip," presented a unique narrative in the e-liquid realm. As a female entrepreneur, Pip not only curated exceptional flavors but also adorned them with captivating artwork.

However, amidst the acclaim, controversy brewed in online communities. Sadly, gender bias overshadowed Pip's achievements, with undue focus on her identity rather than her craft. In retrospect, Pip's transparency was revolutionary in an industry dominated by anonymity. In 2016, her prominence as a woman in the e-liquid landscape was unprecedented. And so, the inspiration for Dragon's Milk emerged—a rendition of Sucker Punch, albeit with a zestier, fruit-centric twist and a touch less creaminess to suit my personal taste.

    ##Dragon's Milk Signature E-Juice Recipe

This recipe is also available on AlltheFlavors.

Rumored to exclusively feature TFA flavorings, I crafted this clone using solely TFA ingredients. To mitigate initial harshness, I introduced 1% Ethyl Maltol, lending a subtle sweetness and smoothing the overall profile.

    ##Dragon's Milk Retired Salt Recipe

For those craving the essence of Dragon's Milk in a salt recipe, fear not. I adapted this beloved flavor 1:1 into a salt version, which became one of our best-selling retired salt recipes. The transition to pods was seamless, maintaining the flavor's integrity with a typical PG/VG ratio of 63% VG / 37% PG.

There are no changes from the e-juice recipe.

What makes the salt recipe truly distinctive is its launch amidst a period of renewal for TBD Liquids, marking Memorial Day 2019 as a pivotal moment. I poured my energy into extensive marketing efforts for this sale, unveiling Dragon's Milk Salt alongside the Caliburn. This venture into hardware was a departure from our previous focus, with the last investment made nearly two years prior in Geekvape RTAs.

The company had endured financial strain, with personal funds being used to sustain operations. Balancing full-time schooling alongside these challenges, I resolved to make one final push to revitalize the business. Ironically, despite being immersed in the industry, I had transitioned to using JUUL products for their convenience.

However, the discovery of the Caliburn proved transformative. Experimenting with my signature Dragon's Milk in a Caliburn pod, I found myself gradually reducing my reliance on JUUL. This shift sparked a realization – if the Caliburn could sway my loyalty, it held potential to captivate others. Motivated by this insight, I took a bold leap, purchasing hundreds of Caliburns to coincide with the sale.

This decision was a gamble, perhaps the greatest risk I'd ever taken, but it reshaped the trajectory of TBD Liquids forever. It laid the groundwork for a resurgence, offering a competitive edge against JUUL and welcoming a wave of new customers. At that time, the concept of a handcrafted line had yet to materialize; my focus remained on adapting our signature flavors into salts. In retrospect, that leap of faith was instrumental in charting a new course for our company.

###Having closed TBD Liquids last year, I now share my recipes openly, relying on the kindness of supporters to sustain my craft. If you've enjoyed my creations, consider buying me a $3 coffee. ###Your generosity enables me to continue sharing recipes freely while offering early access to new creations and exclusive DIY content through my supporter page. Thank you for being a part of this journey! 😊

Clone Request Thread - April 2024

Love some commercial juice but are tired of paying someone else to mix for you? Then you are in the right place. First, did you use the sidebar and search feature? There are also specific clone threads linked in the sidebar. If these have turned up dry, then please post your request for a clone recipe here.

However, you should know that most of the experienced users no longer buy commercial juice. Why pay retail when you can mix amazing juice for less than 1/10th of that?

Be as descriptive as possible. Including the description provided by the vendor isn't a bad idea but you'll get better recommendations by describing what **you** taste. If you've already tried a clone recipe and it wasn't right, include a link to the recipe and describe what was different. The more information you provide, the easier it will be for someone to help you.

Read more on [Clone Recipes](https://diyejuice.org/recipes/clones) and how to get he most out of your request.

    Happy Mixing!

☕ Mister Coffee ☕ A Semi-Sweet Coffee Recipe by TBD Liquids

    https://i.imgur.com/uJtTnr5.jpeg

    #Good Morning, Mister Coffee!

    Backstory:

So this was a brand new coffee recipe Tom and I were secretly working on for about 6 months. We initially started working on it because we were finding a particular flavoring for our Starbuck recipe was becoming harder and harder to source. I knew it was only a matter of time that we would probably have to retire Starbuck. It also wasn't the most popular flavor because I made it for myself and I made a caramel frappuccino instead of a traditional semi-sweet coffee. I think a lot of people were turned off by the cooling & the sweetness, some people loved it and still ordered it from us until the day we closed, but most people seemed to overwhelmingly prefer Mister Coffee.

When I decided to start working on a new coffee flavor, I roped Tom in because he had different tastes than me. He was always better with the flavors that I just didn't much enjoy myself. Taste is a funny thing, everyone's really is different. Knowing and understanding that was really allowed TBD to flourish. A lot of you have asked me over the years how we always came out with good flavors, and it was really just a blend of luck & incorporating a lot of different tastes into the creation of every recipe. We trialed them a lot, if it wasn't something that a good portion of the team was vaping as an ADV we would go back to the drawing board. Sometimes it was difficult telling Tom or another one of the employees that the recipe they were working on just wasn't "there" yet. It was also hard for me to accept criticism from others when I loved something and they weren't jiving with it. I think that pushing each other to do better was what made our releases so successful in our later years. The mystery flavor really was a great way for us to try things out en-masse so if something wasn't getting the right feedback we would have the opportunity to scrap it or change it up before releasing it as a standalone flavor. I'm surprised that we never really had to pull something entirely, but we did rework a few of our recipes before releasing them as a standalone flavor. Sometimes we'd tinker with them as we sent out batches, and when positive feedback started flooding in, that's when we knew we'd hit the mark.

Mister Coffee was kind of different though, we weren't able to trial this one as a mystery flavor because coffee really is a polarizing flavor. Not everyone enjoys coffee so much that they want to vape it all day. Also it wouldn't be a great "mystery" because everyone would just be like "it's coffee!", boom mystery solved! That's no fun. It was the same with Fresh Mint, couldn't trial that one, too polarizing and obvious. I guess I was really nervous about Mister Coffee because it wasn't a flavor that I worked on much myself, it was one that I trusted Tom with. I encouraged him to reach out to people ordering Starbuck from us and collecting feedback directly from them. I'm sure he was probably frustrated with my perfectionism, but he did get some great feedback and he was able to take that and was able to try some new ideas that really brought the flavor to the next level.

This recipe is really special to me because it was one of the only recipes of ours that I had to fully trust someone else on. Our goal was to create a flavor that both coffee-lovers and coffee-likers could enjoy and I think my best bud knocked it of the park. So for the last time, say hello to Mister Coffee, he's happy to be here!

    ###Mister Coffee Recipe

This recipe is accessible on AlltheFlavors

    • Cafe Latte (VT): 3% - The star of the show, this is what we build off of.
    • Tiramisu (FA): 1% - Adds a nice thick mouth feel, gives it a bit more chocolate and cream.
    • Mocha (FLV): 1.5% - Really highlights that mocha note. Note: You must create an account first on flavorah.com to see pricing & checkout. Not available elsewhere from what I can tell.
    • White Chocolate (Milky Cream) (WF): 0.5% - This is just to really nail that creamy mouth feel at the end.
    • Marshmallow (FA): 0.5% - Let's make the mouth feel nice and "full". FA Marshmallow is a great flavoring that can give any recipe a "full" and well-rounded mouth feel.
    • Super Sweet (CAP): 0.25% - Just a touch to sweeten it up. Like Sugar Free Creamer.
    • Recommended PG/VG for Pods: 63% VG / 37% PG

####Having closed TBD Liquids last year, I now share my recipes openly, relying on the kindness of supporters to sustain my craft. If you've enjoyed my creations, consider buying me a $3 coffee . Your generosity enables me to continue sharing recipes freely while offering early access to new creations and exclusive DIY content through my supporter page. 'Suggest a Recipe for my Flavors' Thread - Week of March 11, 2024

Got a bunch of flavors but not sure how to make them work together? Post your list here, and our team of semi-professional mixologists will make suggestions for you! Don't forget to include manufacturers' names for all of your concentrates, and make your list easier to read by using bullet points or at least listing each of your flavors on a new line by hitting return twice after each flavor.

There are [Recipe Sharing](https://diyejuice.org/guides/calculators) websites in the sidebar where you can register a free account, input your flavors, sort by rating, and either mix something up or be inspired to make something with your ingredients.

Handcrafted Key Lime Pie: Whipped Cream & Citrus Dreams - TBD Liquids

    https://imgur.com/a/Ot9sN4o

    Dear DIYers,

I'm thrilled to bring you a piece of my heart and kitchen – the Key Lime Pie recipe, a blend that captures the essence of a breezy Florida day and the warmth of a homemade dessert. This isn't just about mixing flavors; it's about encapsulating the iconic Key Lime Pie's vibrant tartness, creamy filling, and crunchy graham cracker crust into one exquisite vape experience.

The journey to perfect this recipe was a testament to perseverance and passion, particularly for dessert flavors in pod systems, which always present a unique challenge. As I've recently shared in the DIY_eJuice Discord (Imgur), achieving the layered complexity of a good dessert recipe in a pod system is a formidable task. Our initial Signature Key Lime Pie rendition felt a bit too dry for my liking. With this Handcrafted version, my aim was to enhance the smooth, creamy texture that's so characteristic of a well-made Key Lime Pie. The breakthrough came with Lemon Squares by Wonder Flavours, which introduced the perfect amount of creamy depth without overwhelming the delicate balance of flavors.

    ###The Recipe:

    • Florida Key Lime (FA) - 7%: The essence of our pie, delivering the unmistakable tart and zesty punch of real Key Lime, setting the foundation for our creation.
    • Lemon Squares (WF) - 5%: Adds a creamy, citrusy nuance that complements the key lime, enriching the pie's complexity and creaminess.
    • Cheesecake Graham (PUR) - 4%: This builds our pie's base with a delightful toasted graham cracker note, subtly infused with a hint of creamy cheesecake, melding flawlessly with the lime filling.
    • Super Sweet (CAP) 0.5%: A whisper of sweetness to perfect the blend, ensuring the pie's tartness is balanced with a pleasing finish.
    • Recommended PG/VG for Pods: 60% VG / 40% PG

I've always believed in the potential of our Key Lime Pie to offer more than just a hint of dryness. The Handcrafted version is my answer to that belief, a rendition that brings the pie's inherent creaminess to the forefront. The choice of Purilum's Cheesecake Graham was deliberate, offering a creamier, more authentic pie base compared to the drier alternatives, and enhancing the overall sensory experience.

##To give you a taste of what others are saying, here are some of my favorite reviews:

    • "Can't get much closer than this." A celebration of balance – the cream, pie crust, and lime harmonize beautifully, with a meringue hint that complements the whipped cream predominance. The lime's natural acidity is spot-on, not too sweet, but just right.
    • "Key Lime Pie" This rendition hits the mark with a fantastic crust flavor and the authentic taste of real Key Limes.
    • "Light and bright lime flavor with pie crust on exhale" A personal favorite for many, offering a vibrant lime flavor with just the right dessert notes, and a sweet marshmallow hint. A must-try for dessert lovers.
    • "Enjoyable play of flavors" A surprise hit, where the pie crust takes center stage. Even for those not well-versed in key lime pie, this mellow vape is a delightful exploration worth trying.

I'm honored to share this Key Lime Pie adventure with you. The time and love invested in this recipe have been immense, and it's a joy to finally present it to you all. Here's to many more flavorful journeys together.

    Warmly,

    John

Clone Request Thread - March 2024
