Rule | Description |
---|---|
Full List of Rules | This rule list is a summary of consistent ones that pop up, so please check out the full rules list here. |
1.1 Personal Attacks | Comments and posts that are intended to attack or insult other users are not allowed. It's okay to disagree with someone, but using ad hominem attacks instead of having an actual discussion is not acceptable. |
1.2 Discrimination | Attacks based on gender, sexual orientation, disability, race, nationality, ancestry, or religion are prohibited. Civil discussion is permitted, but using these traits as weapons is not allowed. |
1.3 Witch-Hunting & Calls to Action | It is strictly prohibited to engage in witch-hunting activities on this subreddit, and any sort of promotion or request for raiding servers is not allowed. Any attempts to rally the community for a particular purpose, such as voting for a poll, promoting a boycott, or advertising a petition, will be removed as it is considered a "call to action". |
2.1 Low-effort Submissions | Moderators may remove content that is deemed as low-effort. This includes but is not limited to quality, memes, rants, screenshots lacking info/context, vague titles, & posts irrelevant to Discord. Full description |
2.2 Safe For Work Content Only | Excessively violent or sexual content, including but not limited to death threats, explicit content, gore, or content that sexualizes or harasses other users is not allowed. However, discussing NSFW (Not Safe For Work) content is allowed as long as it is tagged appropriately and is relevant to the discussion. |
2.3 Client Modifications | Client modifications such as Better Discord and BeautifulDiscord are not supported and are considered a violation of Discord's Terms of Service. Therefore, we do not discuss these matters on the subreddit. Third-party add-ons like these are not safe to use. Installing any third-party software that modifies the Discord client can create vulnerabilities that may expose you to malicious code or result in the loss of your account. It is highly recommended to avoid using such software to ensure the security of your Discord account. |
3.1 Recently Posted Topics | Reposted topics are not allowed. Threads that focus on topics that have been discussed at high frequency, cover information from the same angle, or are covered in our FAQ pages may be removed. Please use the Reddit search bar, check /new, or the front page as this is a topic that has been largely posted/discussed recently. |
3.2 Advertising/Self-Promotion | No advertising/self-promoting servers, selling/buying accounts, trading, or nitro begging. Advertising personal bots/projects is allowed if it does not make up a notable portion of your account history. |
3.3 Code Giveaways | We do not allow giveaways on this subreddit as they create spam and we cannot verify that all users receive their prizes (when required to enter). If you want to give away your code(s), please use this post. |
3.4 Third-Party Bot Support | If you are having trouble with a third-party bot, we recommend you contact their support team. Try searching the bots name on Google as most bots have a support website or server. Some of the more popular ones are Dyno, Mee6, YAGPDB, & Carl-bot |
4.1 Account Support | This subreddit is not the appropriate place to post account-related issues/requests/complaints. If you are having an issue with Discord's product or need to contact them for any reason, please search their support knowledge base for answers or send a ticket to Discord’s support team. If you've already sent a ticket, please be patient and wait for an answer. The support team often has a slow response time due to the number of open tickets. |
4.2 User Report | This sub is for talking about Discord as a product, service, or brand in ways that don't break Discord's Terms of Service or Guidelines. If you believe a user has violated ToS, please report them. |
4.3 Bug Reporting or Feature Requests | Technical questions and issues other users may be able to assist with are allowed, but bug reports should be shared directly with Discord. To learn how to report them via the Discord Help Center, read this blog post for instructions! While feature requests and feedback inspire awesome discussions on the subreddit, we encourage sharing them with Discord directly via a Discord Feedback submission. Submitting there guarantees higher visibility from the people who can implement the suggestions. |
5. Reddit rules | The Reddit content policy and terms of service must be followed at all times. Some of our other subreddit rules overlap with the site-wide rules, but such rules provide more information specific to r/discordapp to help you understand what kind of content is allowed. Please review proper Reddiquette before submitting. |

Some people absolutely hate getting pinged, why?
If the pinger is spam pinging, I get it, I hate that too.
But normal pings/replies? Why are some people sensitive to it, It's just a notification, I myself have 1 server with ~2k members (But only like 25 actively chat) on all messages because I'm a moderator there, And also on some channels in big servers and I got no problem with that, So sometimes I wonder why do some people goes ham when pinged.
I’ve tried googling this, searching videos for it, and for some reason it doesn’t seem like it’s a common issue. Discord mobile app has been so god damn buggy on my phone for literally no reason. I have an IPhone 15, have always been up to date with app updates and phone updates. Everytime I’m on a call, my keyboard suddenly refuses to input. There’s no specific keys, it can be all of them or a few. Happening to me right now & it’s making me take forever to type this 🙃. And I’m certain it’s a discord issue because my keyboard doesn’t have this issue when I’m not using it.
Please help me figure out the issue of this! Ts is so aggravating.
Long story short I rejected dating a guy and now it’s an all out war. It goes deeper but he’s threatening to nuke, or hack my account. He’s an ex criminal in real life. I tried reporting him but is unable to because all my evidence are screenshots of other people’s conversation with him that they leaked to me because of how unethical this whole situation is. Anyway he send a screenshot containing my supposedly ip address and others stuff. So what can I do? I called the cops in real life ( live in Canada by the way) he wants to nuke the server tomorrow says he needs a bot token to do that so he might just have to hack past the admins and mods and do it that way? He came in with a bunch of alts that I banned but now he’s saying he has a bunch of other friends in server hacking away for him.
So what can I do? What’s his success rate and now what?
I have screenshots of everything but don’t wanna share em here just yet
I'm not on a crazy good PC (Intel i7-7700k CPU, 1060, 16 GB RAM) but for some reason today Discord has been a problem. I was having FPS issues with Overwatch (drops the game wasn't reporting as such) earlier, did some digging, ended up in a game while writing something on Reddit instead of with Discord opening, and my lag was seemingly gone. Opened up my task manager, while Chrome is the active app on my second monitor, Discord is at 3-6% CPU usage, but when I open Discord (I like having it open on the second monitor to keep watch over my Mudae server) it ranges from 8-32% CPU usage, resulting in lag for Overwatch and possibly other games I've been playing today, while also running slower than usual itself. Performance issues like this seem unheard of, and while I'm on a relatively old PC I haven't had any problems with Discord like this in the two weeks I've been using it (laptop died, friend gave me an old PC he was trying to get rid of). Is there anything I can do about this outside of turning off hardware acceleration, or is this just a "wait for an update and hope they fix this" angle? I've done multiple PC resets and a hard reboot of Discord throughout troubleshooting this, and haven't seen any improvement.
Edit; When tabbed out and not in a VC it runs at pretty normal usage, when tabbed in it still spikes, when in a VC it spikes.
The other day a random discord app added me to a server and I instantly lost access to my account.
I got it back, and removed the bot access from my account. But I'm wondering how that works, that it randomly added me to a server, and as soon as that server opened it logged me out.
From what I see on my account, it didn't send any messages or interact with anything.
I'm assuming it just scraped messages?
Just curious since usually discord hacks will message other people in an attempt to spread.
I have a very high end system with a 7900xtx and 9800x3d, and I notice when screen sharing, my framerate in game(weirdly only in very strange places like the menu or in almost static cutscenes) tanks. My usage on the PC is low across the board with very low CPU usage and GPU usage in these instances.
I'm also not sure it happens in every game and have noticed the behavior in only a few games like honkai star rail and heaven burns red. Has anyone else encountered these issues? Is this maybe more a game issue, a gpu driver bug? A windows bug?
So i made a alt account back when the usernames were updated, to occupy a username for the future, but i changed the name on that account, and now can't seem to be able to use it on my main account. It says username is unavaible even tho nobody has that username. i did this in the past with a popular username, and couldn't occupy the name for a couple days, and now it's gone since somebody claimed it. Anyone has any information regarding this?
I recently noticed that forwarded messages seem not to be checked by automoderation bots. You can, for example, send links which would normally be deleted without them being taken down.
Am I having a misconception or is it true? Is there anything server owners can do about it?
Hey everyone!
I've been working on setting up some sentiment reporting, and I've been seeing some wildly different numbers from Discord Insights VS Statbot. For example, Discord reports about 10k messages, while Statbot says there are 13.5k. Even the joins and leaves have a difference between them.
Is one of these better than the other? Is this something known?
So I decided I wanted to create a discord account a while ago, and I did so, but from the browser, now when I downloaded the app I tried making one and it worked for a while before it gave me a prompt asking for my phone number saying "We detected something out of the ordinary, verify your phone number" though because I made one on the browser it says it's linked to a different account which I can't access, so I un-installed it and waited a while before re-downloading it and tried again, and it did the same thing, worked for a while and gave me the out of the ordinary screen, my accounts verified, it has my email and password, but it won't let me in because I couldn't enter my phone number, I've tried checking the support but to no avail, so I was wondering if someone could help me or if there's a way to completely reset discord completely from outside the app.
I've been having a problem for the past few months where I basically cannot get into new servers anymore as the method so many servers have to distribute invites is giving you a link. When I click on any discord link, it always brings me to this invalid invite link. I don't know what to do or how to join these servers I want to be a part of.
I wanna turn it off for a discord bot for less internet lag. I dont wanna block it either cause i wont be able to see the text.
I don’t know if I accepted the rules in order to be able to write messages so now I can’t write is any # category. How do I accept the rules of the server so I can send messages?
I am wondering if i can find a way to record when people auto renew their nitro boost in my server, whether this be through a bot or any other means?
For clarification, I'm talking about when someone boosts for the first time, it records their initial boost, but if they stay boosting without removing their nitro, it will naturally renew this boost the following month. this "renew" does not get recorded.
I am looking for a way to record this automatically.
Any help appreciated. Thanks
The past couple of days discord when i booted an activity it make the activity was a seperate window. I like that feature was wondering if there way to turn that back on.
Previously Discord was able to be fullscreen and the Windows Taskbar would still be available...
Now its either:
- Windowed (and doesnt fit properly)
or
- Fullscreen (covers everything including the taskbar)
- I've tried all the keybind "fixes" (Ctrl Shift F, Ctrl + Down key, Windows Key + Down Key, Ctrl Shift Down Key, etc... etc...)
- I've tried running it in older compatability modes
- Restarting my PC
- Uninstalling and reinstalling
- Disabling Fullscreen Optimizations
Im kinda just lost...
I suspect they messed up some sorta update or smth... if that is what it is I can wait...
Had the Discord mobile app update today and now it appears the "devices" option in settings is missing? Anyone else got something similar going on?
This just started today, it used to work fine. It plays fine in other apps like now, but the second I switch to discord my Spotify stops playing.
I don’t want them to charge me a month when I literally wanna cancel it right now and they won’t let me. What can I do??
I’m noticing that every time I try to do one of the quests for Discord, it says I’m not actively playing the game even though I’ll have been playing for an hour before trying to do them and they still don’t link. Says that the game isn’t even loaded, but it is…
is it possible to have an alt account of an alt account. what i mean is, say i have my normal account, then i hit switch accounts and i see my alt, so i switch to that account, then hit it AGAIN and see my other alt. but i cant see my other alt from my normal account. is this possible??
For some reason Fortnite never shows up as a status whenever I play it on my ps5. I have my psn account linked and every other game I play on my ps5 shows up as a status but Fortnite is the only one that doesn’t
This issue started today. I have disconnected Spotify from my discord entirely and have reset my phone. The issue still persists. Any advice why this is happening would be greatly appreciated.
.... which means they blocked me right
but its weird bc they always respond to my messages.,,, like how are u gonna block me and then talk to me that's kind of bad blocking? is there another issue happening where i cant react because why would you block someone just to still talk to them like what
