[Hiring] [Remote] - Senior DevOps Engineer, New Networks - Figment $135K - $170K salary

About the Role

We run 60+ blockchains here at Figment. Come help us support more!

This is a full-time remote position, with team members in North America and Europe.

We are seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to help us scale out our operations by planning and implementing projects to manage fleets of blockchain servers. This role presents unique opportunities to be involved in building out tooling where none exists in the industry. You will build production systems that need to handle newer (sometimes alpha quality) blockchain software. You’ll need to consider all aspects of security, monitoring, maintainability, and stability.

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Lead the planning, testing, implementation, and management of projects to deliver scalable, maintainable, secure, and stable deployments across a number of different use cases
  • Identify common areas where automation can significantly increase our ability to manage all our infrastructure
  • Identify areas of systemic risk, and then evaluate, propose, and implement solutions
  • Manage and monitor cloud and physical servers across multiple global hosting services and data centers
  • Automation of blockchain software build, install, and management processes
  • Linux server administration, hardening, intrusion detection, and vulnerability scanning
  • Debugging complex distributed blockchains to help run them smoothly
  • Identify tasks and processes that get stuck or move slowly and support the team in pushing them through
  • Explain broad initiatives and vision to Engineering Leadership and Product.
  • Demonstrate technical expertise in multiple domains and act as a mentor to others on the team

Qualifications

  • In-depth experience supporting Linux servers in large environments with over 500 servers, preferably in highly secure and highly available 24/7 environments. Deep troubleshooting expertise to quickly identify server, network, and application issues, and methodical approach to implementing, testing, and measuring changes to remediate issues. Experience troubleshooting complex application flows which span multiple clusters of systems. Knowledge of common OS and application level settings to optimize system performance
  • Experience with common system administration scripting languages such as bash and Python
  • In-depth experience using Ansible (or similar tools) to environments with over 500 servers. Experience designing complex static and dynamic inventories, variable structures, and playbooks. Writing custom Ansible roles from scratch with advanced features of Ansible such as Jinja2 templating, complex logic flows, dynamic role/task includes, and handlers. Strong focus on ensuring idempotency & reusability and following best practices where they make sense
  • In-depth experience creating well organized modules with Terraform to ensure cloud provisioning automation can be easily reused. Experience creating image build pipelines with Packer
  • Deep understanding of networking and security best practices
  • Experience with Hashicorp Vault or other secure storage tools
  • Experience working in environments with high security requirements

Nice to have, but not required

  • Ansible role testing with Molecule (or similar tools) and Ansible module development experience
  • Knowledge of, or experience with, Proof-of-Work and Proof-of-Stake decentralized consensus mechanisms used in blockchains
  • Experience running applications on Kubernetes
  • Experience creating CI/CD pipelines from scratch to automate infrastructure provisioning and deploy applications (GitHub Actions or similar tools)

Base Salary: The CAD base salary range for this position is CAD $135,000 - $170,000. The US base salary range for this position is USD $135,000 - $170,000. A candidate’s specific pay within the range will be determined by various factors including job-related skills, relevant education, and training.

Benefits: All employees of Figment receive the following competitive benefits. For candidates beyond Canada and the US, benefits will be outlined during your first interview with Figment.

  • Stock Options in the company
  • Competitive bonus (based on company performance) that is distributed bi-annually - we believe that the company’s success should be shared with our employees often
    • For roles listed within the Sales Department, there is instead a competitive commissions structure which will be outlined during your first interview with Figment
  • Annual onsite company gatherings and retreats to inspire team bonding, collaboration, and fun!

Got Promoted to Senior in My New Job Offer – Excited but Nervous

Hey everyone,

I wanted to share something exciting and get your thoughts! I’m an engineer with 6 years of experience split between:

• 3 years as a Software Engineer (FullStack),

• 2 years as a DevOps Engineer

• 1 year as a DevSecOps Engineer.

Recently, I applied for a Cloud Security Engineer role. The hiring process went smoothly, and I received a job offer. I negotiated for a 10% salary increase, and they agreed—but with a twist. They updated the title to Senior Cloud Security Engineer instead.

I’m really excited about the job and the team I’ll be working with, but the change in title made me a bit nervous. It feels like they’ll now expect a senior-level execution in cloud security, and to be honest, I don’t feel like I’m there yet. Of course, I’ll learn and grow into it, but it might take me a bit of time.

How do you see this situation? I’m not complaining—trust me, I’m super grateful to land a job in this competitive market! Just wondering how I should approach this going forward?

.net core WinForms app deployment without public IP address

I am seeking a highly skilled DevOps Engineer with over 5 years of experience, specifically in managing WinForms applications within the .NET Core framework.

The project involves updating an on-premises application deployed across multiple Windows-based servers that lack static or public IP addresses but have internet access. The environment uses Azure DevOps for version control, and all code changes undergo comprehensive testing before being committed to the repository.

This is a short-term engagement, expected to require 2-5 hours. Due to company policy, direct access to our Git repositories is restricted. Therefore, all work will be conducted remotely via AnyDesk or TeamViewer.

When I know I'm ready?

Hello everyone, I'm 19 years old and I work as a N1 technical support in a glass factory in Brazil. I want to specialize in devops and I'm using my free time to study. I wanted to know at what level I can send my resume for vacancies or do extra work on UpWork? For example, today I have an intermediate level of Linux and networks, and basic AWS skills. I'm not the biggest fan of programming, I'm afraid it will get in my way.

Devops coach

Hello i am a 29M and i started working like a "devops" in an italian corporate 1 year ago but I haven't any technically support, it is all related to deployment of corporate applications and I cannot grow continuing this way. My fear is to remain anchored to this domain without being able to change working environment. I have a bachelor in information engineering and before i worked for 5 years on a CCM software without learning any of useful for IT market, just a bit of scripting in groovy. I struggle to study these topics alone, i need to get my hands dirty on other project to become more skilled but I dont know honestly. I was thinking about a coach or something like that, what do you suggest?

HELP - NEW JOB - WORTH THE PUNT?

I’m from UK.

I’m a DevOps engineer on 60k, but I get Fridays half day, 1.2k Learning and dev allowance yearly and I am remote, with many other benefits. However, no bonus.

Today, I got accepted for a new DevOps role in FinTech, 65-68k base with a 10% bonus. But, the role is hybrid (3 in 2 home). The main worry for me is the loss of benefits and losing remote working full time.

I need some advice - What would you recommend here? Of course it is different for everyone but I have never been in a hybrid role and I am very apprehensive about it, because the cost of travel and if it would truly be worth it.

What are the general opinions, suggestions or tips?

Is it possible to land a full-remote DevOps/SRE job in Europe at my level? Need advice!

Hey everyone,

I’m a DevOps/SRE/Platform Engineer currently based in Europe, and I’ve been actively searching for a full-remote position for the past few weeks. I have around 3+ years of experience, including:

  • Infrastructure Design & Automation: Built secure, scalable platforms (e.g., government-grade solutions with 99.99% uptime).
  • Tech Stack: Kubernetes, Terraform, GitLab CI/CD, AWS, Azure, and more.
  • Certifications: Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA).
  • Key Achievements: Reduced deployment times by 85%, optimized monitoring systems, and secured cloud infrastructures.

I’ve been applying to remote jobs but haven’t had much luck getting responses. I’m wondering:

  1. Is it realistic to aim for a full-remote role in Europe with my level of experience?
  2. Are startups or smaller companies more likely to hire full-remote DevOps engineers?
  3. Any tips for improving my applications or finding hidden opportunities in the remote work market?

I’d appreciate any advice, personal experiences, or suggestions for platforms/communities to explore. Thanks in advance!
