Can someone please explain to me why I'm suddenly being bombarded with posts about a restaurant in fucking Derby?
I mean don't get me wrong, it looks like a lovely place, but why the almighty algorithm has chosen to grace my front page with this is a mystery.
I go there sometimes it’s open sometimes it’s not

Let’s get to it.

Mental health care should be accessible, community-centered, and free from profit motives. Derbyshire’s NHS Talking Therapy service, which has supported residents for over 16 years, is at risk of being handed over to private providers. This could lead to reduced access to care and fewer sessions for those in need.
Supported by Unison and Unite, this campaign aims to keep mental health talking therapy within the NHS, and you’re invited to help make a stand.

Hello I have never been to Derby. And I don’t think I will ever do.
I am still highly interested in that kebab story, I have to confess so far I’m on team Customer, as the owner/manager post has not convinced me.
Please don’t let the story fade, we want to have a conclusion to it.
Also, suggestions for which celebs should be cast welcome.
Lovely autumn day here.
Popped to Zan fish in Littleover.
Walking past the Green room Littleover barbers.
Looked like Ruud Van Nistelrooy sitting in the barbers there.
Anyone else see any famous lookalikes
It’s my daughters second birthday tomorrow so I brought her into derby to get some balloons, outside of whatever the intu centre is called now, this bellend of a 50 something year old man decided that suddenly bending into her pram with a werewolf mask on and growling at her, getting right up to her face was appropriate? If either he or the 30ish year old woman he was with read this, you’re both really shitty people. My daughter has no understanding of Halloween and it terrified her.
Bending into a child’s pram is never a good thing to do, especially with no warning and without the parents consent.
Apparently he had done it to some other children too as someone stopped me to tell me that.
Sorry just ranting aaahhhhhhh.
So I'm 16, if I was 18 I'd have gone to the rave at Derby Uni but that's obviously not an option, I wanna go to the Sadler Gate event, but the timings are weird with it also being Diwali today I have other things to do, are there any other events? I'll still probably go to the Sadler Gate event if there isn't, thanks a lot
Edit: The Sadler Gate event was kinda dead, especially without any friends to go with so I left after 20 mins
As many of you will no doubt be aware, a dark week has befallen our city, where I fear we are all now needed to stand up and be counted, to take up our swords and pick our side in a fierce battle. A drama so rich in passion and mixed evidence that it has transcended the very tapestry of Derby's storied past and written itself into the tales we will regale our great grandchildren with on our deathbeds.
It's truly been an issue we can all relate to, so close to many of our hearts; a man's love of well priced but also freshly cooked chicken meat vs a local businessman trying to make an honest living during a cost of living crisis.
Which side were you on when it mattered? Please plead your case in the comments.
There are temporary lights on Uttoxeter old road just after wild street but before slack lane causing mayhem on all of the surrounding streets including friargate, vernon street, south street - even 4 way junction onto great northern etc is bad too. I got caught in it twice. Curious if anyone knows what the lights are for and how long they'll be there?
Hi guys I’m at work right now and I’ve just been told I need to wear a Halloween costume tomorrow. I need to get one after work today so I have it for my shift tomorrow. Where can I get one? Adult male. I know it’s last minute and I’m stressed. Any ideas? Please help I’m desperate
Okay, so I was walking in to town today and noticed that where Millets used to be, there's a shop that's setting up that has window upon window of drug paraphernalia. Now thing is, drugs whatever, adults will be adults that doesn't bother me, but when there's kids walking past it's a tad full on and I know Derby isn't the best place (I was born here, I can say that 😂), but it's not the best first impression is it? (that being said, there is a demolition site opposite, so not sure what people would see first haha). I've never felt like complaining like a boring old person before, but being the grand old age of 29, I want to start 😂 thing is, who would I contact? Any ideas?
Anyone know of any currently standing (and ideally, not a death trap) abandoned buildings in Derby / the surrounding area? Looking for potential locations to do a photoshoot.
Hiya all, I'm a 20yr old guy and looking for a low div Sunday league team to start playing again, I've been out the game for around 2 years and really want to start up again
Me and my friends want to go to a pub quiz night on Tuesday. I've never been to a pub in England so I have no idea about any of them. Long story short, turns out I'm the one that has to find a good place 😅 Any suggestions? Any Tuesday pub quizes? Also, would appreciate it if you share more information such as entry: is it open, is it not, if not what cost, do I need to book a table, and such. Thanks in advance x

A new coffee shop in Derby, Nixon Coffee, is open from 7.30am in the week and stays open until 10pm in the evening on Fridays and Saturdays, great for a non-alcohol social venue.
Looking for female friends to go to the gym with, I’m 21F. I love metal music, art, horror movies, and video games. Just looking for a gym partner to go with occasionally and to talk about gym etc
Ive not visited Derby but I've been considering applying to the university. I've been learning about Derby in the process. I see there is a lovely big park near the uni, Markeaton Park.
There is a park that seems similar, where I live. There, you can drive into the park on roads that make a large circle thorough the park. You can park your vehicle and go enjoy the park. The park is always accessible for peole and vehicles. People go jogging late at night in the summer because it's cooler. Often people jog or cycle through at all times of day. The park is always open to people on foot, bike or vehicle.
Is Markeaton available anytime too? Looks like there are not roads through the park.
I'd also love to hear from students of the MSc counselling/psychotherapy program at University of Derby.
The city looks really sweet and charming. I like the idea of living in a small city, and it looks like Derby is close to many other places too, for easy day trips.
I would come as an international student. Im Canadian and my family came from England, France, and Ukraine (although many generations back). I'm not religious (I mention this because I likely wouldn't fit in well in a small city where the majority are). Im very interested in conflcit resolution (my bachelors degree major is CR) crafts, sustainable living, nonviolent communication, mediation etc. I see the city has a museum of making! That looks really interesting but I also saw a post saying it would close. If I lived there I think that would feel like a loss for me.
Does Derby get many people traveling through? Im curious what supports the local businesses. Three museums in a small city seems like alot, so I suspect tourism.
Is the town welcoming of international students? I'm really open to hearing any answer to this. If not, that's ok. I know that not all people or communities welcome immigrants. I know this is considered wrong to say to some, but it's ok to be uncomfortable with familiarity. We're wired to do that to keep ourselves safe. I know there are people who are both happy and unhappy in my city, about immigration levels. The economists say we need it to maintain our economy. 🤷🏻♀️ either way, I have no problem with people of any ethnicity or culture. I would like to be in a community where I'm not causing problems for the locals. If Derby isn't a good place I'm happy to look at others 😀
Please if you respond letting me know the city is not welcoming, can you just say that. I don't want this post to become debates about race or who belongs. Please be mindful of how you repsond 🙏
Sorry this is long. I'm also curious about work opportunities in or around Derby. I'm an older student (40's) and would hope to permanently stay where I graduate. Can anyone tell me about the job market? Or where I could get local job info?
Sorry, I keep calling it a town and city. I'm not sure which it is.
Thanks for any info you're able to share!
When we moved into our home the previous owner left us with their koi carp. Looking to rehome them any suggestions. Not looking for money just need them to go to someone who can look after them.
