There’s been music blasting all weekend at his house.. can’t be accidental- non stop..
A single mother I know in Bon Ayre (Hockessin) had two young men come to her door in the middle of the day Friday. They told her they were stopping by as they noticed she had "significant issues" with her roof, that they saw "evidence of leaks and failures" , and she needed to act quickly to prevent her home from suffering significant damage.
Which is utter nonsense as a GC friend of mine installed that roof in 2017, and was just there three weeks ago touching up a spot on the flat roof over the porch and sunroom.
When the roof tactic failed, they moved to the windows. The "old, outdated" windows were clearly beyond their lifespan and should be immediately removed and replaced. The windows in question are Anderson windows that were installed by the previous owners in 2012. In 2016 they were inspected by a licensed home inspector, and in March of this year they were inspected again by a certified energy efficiency firm that deemed them all to in perfect shape, performing exactly as intended when they were originally installed. After they were told to pound sand and the door was closed, they stood on the porch, staring at the door for nearly two minutes.
That a company operating in seven states and doing business in excess of $120 million annually relies on scare tactics, clearly approaching homeowners during business hours, likely to catch elderly residents and stay-at-home moms on their own, is beyond the pale.
They've earned a reputation over the decades as doing passable work, but grossly overpriced. There are tons of other home improvement companies out there. I hope each of them outlasts PJF by decades.
Anyone know what the heck is going on with the helicopter flying low, fast, and back and forth across Newark this evening?
Anywhere in DE - whether it’s restaurants, gyms, etc. Looking to compile a list. Thank you!!
I can’t thank you guys enough for the help and support we have received through such an unexpected time before the holidays it means a lot! https://gofund.me/faa494fb
Are there any within a reasonable distance? Thx!
I was in line for Early Voting this afternoon, and there was a couple directly ahead of me in line. They had a kid with them. The man began walking into a voting booth with the kid, and the woman stayed back. Before the curtain was drawn, the poll worker directing people to booths invited the woman to go into the same voting booth along with the man, which she then did upon being prompted.
I have to wonder, was the poll worker right to have done that? Is it allowed? This particular case may have been completely innocuous, but something about it kinda rubs me the wrong way, if this were something that occurs frequently. I didn't see any clarification about whether couples can go into the same booth together in the Delaware Department of Elections FAQs about voting, so I thought I might check if anyone here had thoughts.
I'm trying to write to someone who got transferred from another state into Delaware's prison system. I need their "SBI Number" to address the envelope, but for some reason the VINELink platform that the state prison system uses to let people look up prisoners censors their ID number. I've never seen anything like this before in other states; usually you can just search someone's name and it will tell you where they are located and what their ID number is. Very frustrating. Anyone know how I can look up someone's number?
Sorry if this has already been asked before, but I'm struggling to find the details in the Delaware tenant/landlord rights code.
I ended my lease early. Gave 60 days notice. I paid for the full month of October and moved out October 16th. I got the charge list in the mail and I'm being charged the remaining 3 months of my lease plus late fees for those months, even though they haven't occured yet...
It's my understanding that I don't have to pay the remainder of my lease if a new resident is moved in to that unit. So I don't understand why they are charging me for it plus late fees? I don't mind paying a re-letting fee, but can they charge me for 3 months I'm not living there? Especially if a new resident is living there?
Lastly, did I shoot myself in the foot somehow by moving out on the 16th instead of the 30th? Any advice would be helpful, especially if you can point me to the right clause in the tenant rights
We are considering moving and looking for feedback regarding this builder and the Whitehall community
Thank you
Delafaire is happening now and tomorrow from 10AM- 5PM. Final weekend is next weekend!
I’m looking for an organization that takes clothing donations. Mostly women’s clothing but some men’s clothing as well. I’d rather not go to goodwill or any of the random bins in parking lots. Bonus if they have an easy drop off process!
For years I have wondered about this house. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? There was a little house with a bunch of vintage vacuums all up and down the front porch and walkway. The vacuums are no longer there.
Does anyone know about the person that lived there? Were they a vacuum collector? Did they move or pass away? Why did they display their vacuums in such a way? So many questions with no answers and I have always wanted to know. For no reason, just being a curious (nosy? lol) neighbor.
The wait to get in the door is about 30 minutes and the line is where we started. It's a good time to get out there!
Hi everyone. I posted on here asking for opinions on another neighborhood and here I go again. I am house hunting and there’s nothing in the areas I like that are in my budget. Our agent wants to show us a house in Edgemoor Terrace but I am worried about the close proximity to Gov Prince Blvd. Anyone know anything about this neighborhood and if it is safe?
Question: Is there anywhere in the Newark area that has open mic nights, karaoke, or cabarets coming up. I want to go sing somewhere since the place I used to go to closed. For a perimeter, I live near Cleveland Ave and am always either driving Kirkwood Hwy or in the Pike Creek area. Figured the music and theatre community in Delaware might be able to help me out!
Ive been looking to get a punk-ish haircut (specifically a fauxhawk with the two front pieces by the ears left) and i normally go to a specific stylist but shes entirely booked up for months. im looking to find a salon thatd be able to do it, and it does have to be lgbt friendly. please if anyone has any ideas let me know. ideally in kent county but willing to branch out when i have time.

Thank you to the Odessa Fire Company for taking care of the brush fire in Ponds of Odessa today. It could have been terrible but they took care of it quickly.
Cleaning out my house right now and realizing what an insane amount of eletronic junk we've accumulated over the years. Many old cellphones, cameras, VCRs/DVD players, audio devices, consoles, monitors, modems..you name it, and we've probably got multiple generations of it. For whatever reason we just never were very good at getting rid of whatever gadget was being upgraded, and so now we're stuck with what probably amounts to a couple hundred pounds of circuit boards, copper and batteries.
Times are tough and I'm not usually one to be wasteful when possible, so rather than just hauling it off to the dump it'd be nice if I could drop most/all of it off at a place that deals in recycling e-junk. I just haven't been very lucky in my search attempts yet. Maybe my Google-fu ain't what it used to be, or maybe we're just lacking such a service in this area. What say you, reddit?
After hearing about Monique John's recent escapades, I want to vote for Little Anyone Else™. However, I can't find anything specific about Melissa Brayman behind her website. Can anyone link me to info about her policies?
This sub was not nearly as popular before Biden got elected. After that it suddenly added a lot of members. It will be interesting to see if the subscriber numbers drop after January.
I've been really interested in adopting a hamster lately, and after doing some research on them I think they'd be a great fit for me. The problem is, I don't like big chain pet stores like PetCo because they often use pet mills / unethical breeding to get their animals. I'm having a lot of trouble finding small animals, especially hamsters, at local rescues/shelters, and I don't know where to start on Facebook.
Any information regarding where I can find a hamster for adoption (not some big corporate pet store) would be amazing! I'm interested in adopting a Syrian male, because females / other breeds seem more difficult to care for.
Edit: I've tried Pet Finder and Adopt a Pet. There's only one male Syrian available, and he's in Philly, so not very close. I'd like to be able to weigh my options, and especially help out an animal that really needs a good home.
In short:
I have vivid memories from the late '90s or early 2000s of a Brandywine Hundred home on Silverside Road (or maybe Shipley?) where the owner painted messages all over the exterior of the home. Over the years, I remember hearing it had something to do with protesting a divorce or shaming an unfaithful spouse or something of the sort.
Anyway, I was thinking about the house today and it has long since been repainted and changed, but I remember it was that way for quite some time.
Anyone else recall this house, know the story behind it or even have a picture?
Or am I going nuts?
Does anyone know how to use this benefit that I hear about for medicaid kids?
Are there Orthodontists that are trusted and do good quality work that aren't Alpine & Rafetto? They fucked up my teeth so much and in so many ways I can't stand my smile. I'm thinking of getting braces again just so I can look at my teeth with pride again and not have jaw issues. But they're the only ones I've ever been to.
