Like i always just think it is so interesting to see all the different styles people like and want to try and re-create it's so cool and sparks inspiration.
Due to some problems I’m thinking about uninstalling davinci resolve and reinstall but I have a lot of addons and plugins and I don’t remember where I got some of them, so I was wondering if there’s a way to move this plugins to carpet, reinstall resolve and install all these things again
I love the film look and the grain effect is the most significant contributor (to me) to that aesthetic— but I can't justify purchasing the full version just for the grain effect. Any tips or effective methods?
How is it that Davinci is clearly the bet platform out there, while simultaneously making some things incredibly difficult to figure out?
For example, generating embedded captions and transcripts is easy and also take me 15 minutes to remember the steps to do it!?
(I realize it's probably just me)
Curious though - Do most of you have a good reference for finding steps or do you just keep it all in your head? I could use some help with getting better at it. Most of the work I do is not consistent workflow, it's always something different..
I'm just looking for some tips on how you all figure this out or the steps you follow when you get lost?
I'm going to DIY edit a music video and I'm struggling to find out if this is possible.
I want to sync up all my clips with the track audio, and then "lock" everything such that each track can still be cut, and the shots moved up obviously, but I want to eliminate the possibility of any of the tracks go out of sync.
I would also like to know if it's possible to sync everything up, and then create a multicam timeline? This is made more complicated by the fact that some of the shots will not last the entire duration of the track.
Latest version of free resolve.
I'm about to start sound mixing on a short film I made, am I generally supposed to steer clear of audio in the red entirely, or is it OK for some sounds to poke into the red a little? Thanks!
I can't get my mixer to look like this
Instead it just looks like this, please help!
I am using the free version of davinci resolve 19
what should i change when shooting? i know it can't be fixed in post
is it about the exposure and frame rate?
thanks guys*~*
Hello Editors!
Where can I find a visual effect to add to a reel as if the volume was increasing on iOS/Android? That side effect when you press the volume up or down buttons is just a simple effect to add at the beginning of the Reels.
I searched and couldn't find it, so for now I can't create it myself.
I just started learning DaVinci Resolve and I need help to start it I’m really obsessed about colour grading and colour theories and I need to learn DaVinci Resolve from scratch so all help is appreciated Thank you!🙏🏻
I’ve been working with Adobe since 2012, trying to mix it with after effect to get more interesting transitions and effects,
A lot of people said stop and don’t waste your time, DaVinci is easer faster and less complicated, ( not in color correction ofc,
What do you think should I change ?
Hello r/davinciresolve! Here's this month's Hardware Thread! In the interest of consolidating hardware questions, we've introduced monthly threads dedicated exclusively to hardware. u/whyareyouemailingme has finally given in and started scheduling these threads.
This is the thread to ask if your computer meets the minimum requirements, ask what part to upgrade, and other general hardware questions. Future FAQ Fridays may still cover hardware & peripherals, depending on how frequently questions get asked.
In addition to subreddit rules, there is one additional thread guideline we're introducing:
Minimum system requirements for macOS
Minimum system requirements for Windows
Minimum system requirements for Windows for Arm
Minimum system requirements for Linux
Minimum system requirements for iPadOS
*Rocky is the current film and television industry standard distro for numerous VFX/color correction programs. Resolve may run on other distros but is only officially supported on and Rocky.
**Mod Note: This must be the proprietary driver; open-source drivers may cause issues.
The Resolve Host (Sending Video) must have the following hardware and software requirements for DaVinci Remote Monitor:
The Resolve Client (Receiving Video) must have the following hardware and software requirements for DaVinci Remote Monitor:
Is there/will there be an Android version?
This is speculation, but it's likely that what makes the iPad version possible is the Apple Silicon architecture and the pre-existing OS similarities to macOS. It seems unlikely that BMD would offer Android support in the near future, and it may have similar codec licensing limitations to the Linux version - no H.26x support without the Studio version, and no AAC audio.
There is also too much variability for Android tablets for accurate remote monitoring. No other comparable solution (ClearView, Streambox, etc.) offers an Android solution.
Can I use Integrated Graphics on Linux if I don't have an NVIDIA or AMD GPU?
Nope, and BMD has no plans to support them.
How do I know if my GPU supports CUDA 12
You can visit the Wikipedia page for CUDA, find the specific CUDA version you need and the corresponding compute capability, then find your GPU. CUDA 11 requires a compute capability of 5.0-9.0.
How low can my system specs go compared to these?
A while back, we did a series of FAQ Fridays on different levels of hardware setups. For the subreddit's bare minimum recommendations, check out the Consumer Hardware Setup FAQ Friday.
How much is a Speed Editor/Is it a good deal to get the Speed Editor/License combo?
Back in October 2021, Blackmagic Design announced that the Speed Editor's introductory bundle with a Studio license for $295 was being discontinued. The MSRP for a Speed Editor is now $395, and it still comes with a Studio license. Some retailers may have the introductory bundle in stock, but it's not a guarantee. More information about the price changes for the Speed Editor and other panels can be found in this press release from BMD.
Why am I not seeing picture when I import media (NOT MEDIA OFFLINE)?
Some remote softwares or GPUs have "fake" virtual display drivers that can cause issues with Resolve not displaying media or generators. More details and a solution from Dwaine can be found on the forums at this link.

Hello r/davinciresolve, and welcome to our monthly AI thread!
Based off of community feedback, this is the route we've decided to go for AI discussion. All regular subreddit rules still apply.
We encourage discussion regarding AI tools used for workflow assistance, such as transcription and media processing. We strongly discourage generative AI that can be used for plagiarism and impersonation.
r/davinciresolve is defining Workflow Assistance AI Tools as tools that utilize AI (or previously existing technologies indistinguishable from AI) that can be used to enhance post-production workflows. These include, but are not limited to:
r/davinciresolve is defining Generative AI Tools as tools that can generate text, audio, or image content that can be used to mimic others. These include, but are not limited to:
We are aware that there are some tools that are a blend between Workflow Assistance AI and Generative AI, for example, RunwayML. When used as Workflow Assisstance tools, we will permit such tools. When used as Generative tools, we will not permit them.
There have been a lot of discussions in the industry about AI technology affecting the future of writers, actors, and even directors. IATSE, the union that includes most post-production, has launched a commission on AI to "guide the union's approach to the challenges and opportunities presented by the advent of artificial intelligence... in the entertainment industry" and it will no doubt factor into contract negotiations in 2024.
At this point in time, ChatGPT and similar LLM tools are not infallible resources, as they are prone to hallucinations with things like the Resolve API, DCTLs, or other scripting tools. Information may also be outdated due to the material available at the time of training.

I'm editing a large file (27 GB) and I keep running into glitches that look something like this. The colors change based on the scene. If I click around enough and scroll around the video somehow it resolves, but then if I rewind while editing they often reoccur on parts of the video. Other things make this show up too, but I'm not sure why. Has anyone seen this before and have an idea of how to fix it?
Also, these glitches show up in the thumbnails on the timeline too. They appear and disappear.
DaVinci Resolve version 19.1.3
System Specs:
Hey everyone,
I’ve been exploring Motion Array recently and I’m curious about how to integrate it with DaVinci Resolve for my video editing projects. Can anyone help explain what exactly Motion Array is and how to use it effectively with DaVinci?
Do I download assets directly from Motion Array and just plug them into DaVinci, or is there a specific process? How do you set it up to make the most of the templates, transitions, and other content they offer?
Also, for anyone who uses it, how do you typically integrate Motion Array into your workflow? Any tips or things to keep in mind when using their assets in DaVinci?
Would really appreciate the help, thanks in advance!
Thank you for reading
I have about 4 hours of 4k video I was successfully able to import into DaVinci resolve. I rendered that into a 10-minute 4K video time lapse as an mp4 h.265 codec. That video came out to be 12 gigs. When I try to re-upload any of my files that I've rendered out, all it says is media offline in the preview however, on the timeline the video is blue and the audio is green. When I try to render anything with it it fails and says " error deciding full resolution media ... Please check that the file is accessible and has valid codec"
Why is this happening?
Im trying to create a video that shows storm (radar echo) moving over area and revealing tornado track. Ive got track still image showing tracks. How can i layer these together? Basically radar moves over revealing track and moves on leaving track visible.
So you could have a video clip and it has its own midi note, sending out over iac and into a more powerful DAW sampler. So do my video editing in davinci and tweaking a sampler in Bitwig being trigger by the resolve midi notes. And also I’ve not explored fair light properly yet but could a midi note be contained with a video clip, so I can move the clip around on the time line and the note moves with it? Thanks
