Question about LED vs HPS light pollution

Hey all, I am writing some short answer questions for College Applications and for one of the majors I am writing about light pollution. I have observed that transitioning street lights from HPS to LED has contributed and made light pollution worse. Would I be correct in claiming this, as this is solely an observation.

Thanks

some advice!

hello! i’m trying to go on a short weekend trip to see the dark sky, and i discovered that dark sky certifications were a thing just this summer. i’m not sure what the difference is between dark sky reserves, dark sky parks, and dark sky sanctuaries - is one higher than the other? similarly, where can i find the list of gold, silver, and bronze-tiered dark skies places internationally?

i am in the northeast US, so I’m looking at Katahdin Woods (sanctuary), amc maine woods (park), and Mont Megantic (reserve). what would you recommend for the darkest skies + weekend trip around december?

First time question

Genuine question. I have never been to a dark sky park before, and I am too familiar with light pollution at crowded places. I have a general fear about safety, can anyone advise what I can do to help with it? Thank you.

Any recommendations for a stay at big bend?

Gonna go at the end of December and would love to find a star gazing guide or maybe an observatory one night. I see a few options for stays, but curious about any suggestions

designation suggestions for a weekend trip

hi, yall! just found out about dark sky destinations this summer and am going to school in CT. i want to travel to a dark sky place to see the stars, and am willing to drive a bit. however, i’m not sure of the best place to go, since the criteria for designations are different rather than ranked on the website. my options are: katahdin woods, ME (sanctuary) mont-megantic, quebec (reserve) AMC woods, ME (park) what would be best for a weekend trip up? thanks!!
