Welcome to Cyprus, the jewel of the Mediterranean sea.

Hello,
if I want to obtain the driving license in cyprus, are there any required hours or lessons to take?
I can already drive so I could just go straight to the tests but do I have to do some driving or school lessons before?
As most of you probably know, more than 80,000 cars in Cyprus are subject to airbag recalls, with Toyota having the most recalls at 27,111 (likely due to its popularity).
I recently found out that if you own a Toyota imported to Cyprus from Japan, the airbag recall isn’t free of charge—it costs around 180 euros. At least, that’s what a friend of mine was quoted for a 2005 Toyota Auris!
This isn’t a personal concern, as I don’t own a Toyota. However, my concern is that many people who drive these older Toyota models may come from lower-income households (though not necessarily). This means some might delay or even forgo replacing their faulty airbags due to the cost.
It’s a pretty disgusting policy from Toyota. Does anyone know if this is even legal? Recalls are supposed to be free of charge, especially for something as serious as this. Faulty Takata airbags have already cost people their lives…
Hi all, I'd like to know if anyone with non-EU, US, UK, Canada (any first world country) has experienced crossing the checkpoint from Southern part of Cyprus to the Northern part. I will have a Cyprus visa (Southern part) and will be landing at Larnaca airport. I'm intending to visit the Northern part and I was wondering whether I'll face any difficulty at the checkpoint in terms of receiving an entry stamp? in other words, do I have to apply for a separate TRNC visa?
Thank you so much in advance.
Hello Does anyone know anywhere in the Paphos/ Limassol district area that does allergy and intolerance testing please? Thank you 🙏🏻
Gia sas guys,
I'm looking for recommendations to find someone (in Nicosia) who has experience with installing cat nets on balconies so Kevin doesn't try to jump out and kill himself. Does anyone here have cat net installed? I'd try to do it myself but the building seems to require a really good drill and my IKEA drill would be no match for it. Picture of Kevin for attention :D
Hi everyone!
Yesterday I received an SMS saying that my car will be suspended (Nissan X-Trail 2002). TO ****** YΠOKEITAI ΣE ANAKΛHΣH. EΠIKOINΩNHΣTE ME ANTIΠPOΣΩΠEIA.
Read an article online (Takata airbags: Authorities to ground 276 vehicles in major safety recall) and didn’t exactly get the point.
It sounds like “your car is cancelled. good luck”. No explanation at all.
Emotional reaction aside, what now? I bought the car last year, spend a whole lot of money on upgrades, I’m not into the idea of letting it go like that.
Anyone else with the same trouble?
So I am planning to move North Cyprus to study Accounting/ Management but can’t make my mind. I can’t afford to go to Europe directly so the plan is get the Bachelors degree from EMU and then move to Europe for Masters. So the thing I wanna ask is if the degree from EMU or any other uni will be recognise in EU?
President Tatar said that he will get the TRNC recognised but that has failed. It was hinted at years ago when North Cyprus joined the Union of Turkic States that if another country were to open an embassy, it would be Azerbaijan and ever since then it was seen to be innevitable. Years later it never came into fruition. Ever since Tatar became president, talks were scrapped and it was sorted out that Two State and recognition was the agenda. They said that they would try really hard and get results but in the end nothing has happened. The wages are low, there is a lack of oppurtunities and joining the house market is near impossible. I think that the annan plan should be brought back. That is the only way I see an end to this mess. The southern part of Cyprus is a 1st world country and we're not.
Are there any discords with lots of cypriots? I don’t think i’ve ever met one online and im online a lot! it would be cool to join some
So. I never thought I'd head down this path, but some big events in my life have had me unable to ignore it any longer.
My mother met my biological father in Limassol and they had a whirlwind holiday romance. He was local, or relatively local, apparently. They didn't exchange permanent contact details and this was the 90's, so when she found out she was pregnant - very advanced into the pregnancy, due to medical issues - she had no way to find him, didn't want to explain to family, and just let it go. I have fairly limited information about him, but I know roughly what his profession was at the time and I have a picture of him.
I'm not sharing all the specifics right now because I'm still struggling with potentially opening a door I can't close again. However I'm just, completely unsure where to even start with looking. I'd rather not try out some DNA test on the off chance he's done one, and I'm afraid to find a tangential relative first and have to try to dig through a lot of people with my personal quest, haha. I'm also not posting this on my main account to avoid it getting out in my personal life before I'm ready.
I suppose my question here is, how can I start? Are there census records or something similar that I haven't found with some googling? Or if his job was say, something that doesn't have a HUGE number of workers or he'd generally have been registered in or on record somewhere for due to its nature, is this something I could approach a rep from a government body with? I'm not sure on the freedom of information or privacy, and I'm coming up stumped so far but don't want to be inappropriate.
I'd really appreciate any advice or direction to some way to try to find someone online without actually having their name or date of birth. Obviously I don't want personal information, I just want to find his name and see if he has any social media account or something that I could potentially reach out through. Thanks for reading, I guess, and hopefully thank you in advance.
Hello, Cyprus community!
We are a team of students currently working on a short documentary about the 1974 war in Cyprus. Our goal is to preserve history and shed light on the personal experiences of those who lived through this pivotal time.
We are looking for veterans or individuals who were directly involved in or affected by the events of the war and are willing to share their stories on camera. We deeply respect and value the courage it takes to speak about such experiences and will handle all interviews with care and sensitivity.
If you or someone you know might be interested or know places and communities that are willing to share some information about their personal experiences, please reach out to us. Interviews will be kept short and can be conducted in person. We are also able to come to your place or to an agreed place of meeting, if needed.
Thank you so much in advance for helping us bring this important part of history to life. Your stories matter.

Hey guys, there's this EU project run by Hope For Children and ANEL (https://anel.com.cy), and there's grants available for any kind of project related to climate and the environment. As far as I know, it doesn't have to be a specific type of project, just somehow relating to climate and the environment. There's info in the link about contacts and a workshop/info session for anyone who might be interested.

Disclaimer: I don't have anything to do with this project or orgs, I just came across them but I'm too old lol. Hopefully someone wants some grant money...
Hello everybody. What are the salaries like in high-end international companies for IT in Cyprus/Nicosia? I'm thinking about relocating and want to understand what someone who works for middle-level professional usually gets. Thanks in advance
I have old Mitsubishi mirage 5 coupe (1998) and i want to know where i can find and order parts for this car? May be there is some site for parts? Because guys in repair workshop want 1/3 of car price for just cooling part ( not radiator or pump)
I'm looking for recommendations for a Greek Cypriot baking book with recipes/stories/significance and links to the calendar. Not a general-purpose cookbook, specifically focused on baking.
Thanks
Maps in Cyprus are not as good as they are in other countries. In particular I am thinking about the maps for navigation apps, to get around the island.
I understand that Waze is currently the most common app for navigation. However, I would like to point out that Organic Maps (and other apps that use OpenStreetMap as reference, like OsmAnd) are becoming better and better.
In fact, I am writing this because last week I started to talk in the street with a food delivery cyclist that could not find a place. He was using Google Maps, and when I opened Organic Maps I was shocked by the huge difference. We could find the place thanks to a better display of the environment.
Let me highlight some advantages of Organic Maps (and OsmAnd) vs Waze (and Google Maps):
I can only imagine a negative aspect: Organic Maps (and OsmAnd) has no real-time information about traffic. But this is not really a bug, but a characteristic. Because it aims at keep maximum privacy.

Basically I’m looking for a nursery that have open spots ASAP for my son who is 11 months old. Is it possible to find one with open spots now or are they all full at this time?
Hey everyone!
I’m a solo Brazilian female traveler visiting Cyprus for a few days/weeks, I'm landing in Larnaca, then taking a to Paphos on Tuesday and staying there for a bit.
My plan was to head to Greece next, since I try to avoid planes, but I haven’t found any ferries running this time of year—only one to Turkey. I’ve checked Google and Rome2Rio but couldn’t find anything solid.
I’m flexible with routes and open to alternative ideas! If anyone has info or suggestions, I’d really appreciate it.
Thanks in advance!
