Welcome to Cyprus, the jewel of the Mediterranean sea.

The next morning, Dimitris returned to Merahfall's forge, carrying a substantial load of weapons along with his bike.
- "Good morning," he greeted Merahfall.
- "Oh, Dimitris! What can I do for you?" Merahfall responded, clearly pleased to see him.
Thanks to Dimitris, he'd earned a good amount of gold from the Dragon's Cave. Dimitris then displayed the armor and the various weapons and asked, "Can you turn these into a pull trolley?" Merahfall scratched his head. "A trolley?" He found it strange to repurpose weapons into something that wasn’t meant for combat.
Dimitris smiled and explained, "I’m a traveler, and I need to carry some gear with me." He gestured to his bike. "A trolley would make it easier to haul everything." Merahfall raised an eyebrow. "Hmm... I see. You’re in a hurry, I take it?"
"Yes, I need it as soon as possible," Dimitris replied, glancing at the pile of weapons. "The sooner, the better."
Merahfall nodded thoughtfully. "Alright, I'll give it a try. But it’ll take some time to get it right. What exactly do you need to carry?"
Dimitris began to explain his travels and what he had in mind for the trolley. “I can help you with, though I am not a blacksmith” he said
Once explained, both took their hammers. Dimitris envisioned a design that minimized smithing: using chestplate armor as a carry bag, bending a sword into a sort of basket, and repurposing other swords to hold the chestplate together. The entire construction would be riveted, as forge welding would take too long.
The mounting mechanism involved two swords, positioned with their fullers facing each other and held together by a rivet in the middle. The hilts were cut down to simplify the structure. This entire assembly was then attached to the bike using spear poles and leather belts.
With Dimitris aid and doing most of the work the process was cheap. Also scrap metal was needed upon the smith, therefore he needed not to pay. The next morning went to the most western city the Rastellar.

I have lost it, and have searched my home already
Hello, any advice how to deal with local insurance companies will be much appreciated.
I got hit by Cypriot elderly on SUV sometime around 2 months ago, no injuries but the wing on my car is totally destroyed. Not my fault, was driving on a straight road and the SUV driver just didn't react/look while merging into the straight and so naturally he merged into my car. Called the insurance guy, he came, photographed everything, said everything is okay I'll be contacted, etc, long story short when they assessed the damages they (insurance) said that the car is 14 years old and they won't be paying for the new parts, only if I will split the difference and pay some percent that they will determine themselves, which is insane for me but okay. If I don't want to pay, they will only cover the second-hand parts (in this case a wing). It's been two months and nobody can find anything that is second-hand, the garage can't find anything, I can't find anything, insurance can't find anything.
So the question I'm having is this - Is there anything I can do or I just have to take the L and pay? It just baffles me that I was hit and I have to pay anything to have my car fixed like it was my decision to have the wing renovated lol.
I hosted a club event recently and got fined. The cop told me to go to the local police station to pay it but the cop at the station told me i have to pay it online. However on the JCC website i cant find a way to pay it.
Hello r/Cyprus,
I'm currently an academic professional looking to gather information about AUB Mediterraneo in Paphos, Cyprus. I would greatly appreciate insights from current or former employees, particularly regarding:
I'm especially interested in hearing from faculty members or staff who can share their first-hand experiences. Any information about the work-life balance, professional development opportunities, and general pros/cons would be invaluable.
Your insights would be extremely helpful in making an informed decision. Thank you in advance for your time and assistance!
I am looking for a great gym in Larnaca. I am used to 24/7 training for 40€ per months and big gym. What I found now is that probably Arise or "It's time" might be the best choice. Would be best in city centre.
How is it in Limassol, Paphos or Nicosia?
He just points out some generic relatable cypriot things, no artistry, no subversion of expectation, most of the time the punchline is no different than the set-up. Is he an industry plant that cypriot people were conditioned to accept or were we actually dumb enough to make him the no.1 comedian based on his entertainment value alone? I'm genuinely baffled by him, has his audience never been exposed to humour before finding out about him? Are they toddlers? Is the average Cypriot a fan? If so I don't feel safe living in a place where the population is actually this stupid.
Genuinely Curious to know from people that are already into such positions or know people that are in these positions what the salary for such positions actually is and not the generalities of the internet.
As always thank you to everyone that answers.
Hi everyone,
An elderly neighbour of mine in New Zealand has always dreamed of retiring in Cyprus and is buying an apartment here:
https://www.pluspropertiescyprus.com/plus-21-roy-terraces---mackenzie/59/plus-21-roy-terraces-
From what he’s told me the apartment seems almost too good to be true, and he’s the type who could easily be taken advantage of…
So, locals of Larnaca, is this development legitimate? Should I be concerned?
Your advice and comments are most welcome.
Cheers :)
Hey guys! Visiting your beautiful country next February for a month. What type of internet could I get? Is it better eSim, or physical cards? Maybe portable wifi? I have no idea :D thanks in advance!
Hi everyone, I was wondering are there any Cypriot specific idioms? both from Greek and Turkish speaking Cypriots. Are there any common idioms as well?
Hi everyone,
I’m set to move to Nicosia, Cyprus next spring for work, coming from the UK, and I’m trying to figure out what to expect and how to plan my move. I’d really appreciate some advice!
I’d love to hear from anyone who’s lived in or moved to Nicosia recently. Your insights and advice would mean a lot!
Thanks in advance!
The only sector that is to break the oligopoly of Cypriot banks is Bitcoin. It is a direct competitor to them. As more snd more people accept BTC, banks are loosing transaction volume, thus are incentivised to innovate and genuinely compete.
I only mention Bitcoin since, all other crypto are banks with extra steps.
If you don't like the way things are in the Cypriot banking sector, I urge you to study BTC and become your own bank by slowly opting out of Euro and adopting the Bitcoin standard.
Hope this post makes you curious enough to look into this. There are lots of books on the subject.
Can anybody recommend a good fancy restaurant in paphos?, it's for my mom's birthday i want to take her to a fancy place
Hi fellow Cypriots, I'm trying to access the Gesy portal on the internet from Abroad but it doesn't seem to be loading. I wonder if it's down for you as well.
https://portal.gesy.org.cy/ This is the link I'm trying to access; but it says it can't be reached.
I was just at Astrobank and to open an account there they charge €30 per year fees just for a savings account and debit card.
I personally had Hellenic my whole life and they only charge 5€ per year.
What do you think about this am genuinely curious to know, you think its too much or its okay?
Don't see any mention of it on the aik website but the power seems to be down?
Hey guys ! So I got a parking ticket in Strovolos abput a week or 2 weeks ago, but when I try to pay it on JCC I can't find it under my name and ID or even passport... I even tried using the QR code on the ticket and it just redirects me to a 404 page on JCC saying nothing was found... Am I missing something? Would it be appropriate to go to the Strovolos police station and ask about this there?
If anyone has had a similar experience please lmk what I can do. Any advice would be helpful.
Since Cyprus is very isolated and not near mainland Greece and other Greek speaking communities and it’s proximity to the middle east, meanwhile also having so many different overlords throughout history such as Ottomans, Venetians etc, the language is fairly different and if I understand correctly not really intelligible for someone from Greece is this correct?
Where as Cypriot Turkish dialect is closer to Standard Turkish since Turkish language began approximately 450 years ago in the island, is geographically closer to Mainland Turkey, had more contact due to the Ottoman period and is generally considered more intelligable.
What makes Cypriot Greek so different compared to Modern Standard Greek?
Hi,
I am located in the US. My company is Cypriot based and I noticed that the salaries are way off between what I get here and what my counterparts get in Cyprus. I have a higher job title and I have a lot more responsibilities so the comparison is not exact however I do see a large difference in wages. For instance in the US remote hands at the data center cost $220 an hour, in Cyprus it's €60. Developers also get paid a lot less. In Cyprus an office employee can cost you €1200 per month in the US the same office employee cost you $2500. Why is there such a divide? Cypriots are not stupid an speak an amazing English. Why wouldn't they simply all work as freelancers for US companies and earn more?
Anyone else currently experiencing a power outtage in the Larnaca area or know the reason?
