Sentai bitz

I wanna make some custom sentai minis. Is there any bits, specifically IG sized heads that resemble sentai style helmets?

Final post on my Guilliman to Demon Prince conversion

Some of you already know how I came to it, but a short recap:

I got a Guilliman model, whith no intention on starting an ultramarines army. BUT I realized that he has the same base size as a Demon Prince. And I had some wings laying around. So ...

I started by building the model, replacing the head with a rubric marine helmet, filing off all the faction specific heraldry and adding some chaos bits, while keeping off some of the more imperial parts of the kit.

The wings I had laying around where to big, so I cut around half of their size off.

I attached the wings and tried to put some bonding studds on his armor, using milipud and green stuff. In the end, I removed them again, leaving the drilled holes to be battle damage.

I spray-primed him with chaos black and gave him a slap-chop, using mechanicum standard grey, administorum grey, corax white and white scar. His armor two thin layers of asurmen blue and aethermatic blue.

The base got a full base coat of mechanicus standard grey and a dry brush of white scar. All the metalic parts where treated with leadbelcher and nuln oil, while the bones got a re-basecoat of corax white and a thick shade with earthshade. The shells where based with screaming bell. The dead marine got a base coat of abbadon black and his chaotic trim got simple retribution armor. His lenses got re-based with corax white and the eye on his chest got mephiston red. Both then got a shiny finish with spiritstone red. The lanterns are simple leadbelcher, while the fires are based with corax white, then layerd with baharroth blue and shaded with thined down aethermatic blue, finished with a dry brush of kantor blue.

I hit the wings with ... a lot. A base coat of baal red contrast paint, then painted the top, outside and bottom of them with ultramarines blue and the top only got another layer of aethermatic blue. Then a thin coat of ahriman blue on the far top and a dry brush of baharroth blue, in an upwards motion, to hit all the edges. I wasn't happy with the wings like that, but a thin layer of xereus purple on the lower end fixed that. The armors trim got a simple coat of retribution armor, while his eyes where filled with baharroth blue. The sword was layerd with stormhost silver and finished with soulstone blue, while the flames got the same treatmend as the flames on the base. His right shoulder got a complete base of retribution armor, with a thin coat of screaming bell on the coin, the eagle is holding (image on the end of this post). The loincloth and the few scrolls got was based with rakarth flesh. The edge of the loincloth got another thin layer of baneblade brown and a shade with agrax earthshade. Most general metal parts (like the backpack) and tubes got a base of leadbelcher and a shade of nuln oil. Wires got a coat of mephiston red.

In the end, I put a transfer on his left shoulder and sponged on some leadbelcher on the flat surfaces of his armor. I attached him to the base and ... PAINTED THE RIM OF THE BASE BLACK.

Help, my Guilliman is saying weird things ...

I've subscribed to the warhammer imperium magazine and got the Guilliman 40k model some time ago. I never wanted to start an Ultramarines army, given I already have a huge pile of Blood Angels and I just don't like their "posterboy status".

But then, I realized something: Guilliman has the same base size as a Chaos Space Marine Demon Prince.

And the rest is history ... (sry for the bad quality)

Base guilliman model. removed all the faction specific heraldry by filing and replaced the head with a thousand sons head from the Rubric Marine kit. Yes, this boy is going to be a Thousand Son.

Reduced the wings from an Age of Sigmar kit. I'm not sure which one, but they're a perfect fit. Just had to make them fit better to the size of the mini.

And here we have the boi with wings! I tried to replace some of the removes details by adding bonding studs to his armor. But I'm not good enough with milipud and/or Green Stuff, so I already removes them, again.

More pictures will be added in the future.

How to get a a near-plastic smooth surface

I made two pieces of cloth from green stuff and milliput. I'm after tips on how to get a very smooth surface. It's it layers of mod podge, fine grit sanding, and patience? It are there better ways?

Looking for help with a Grey Knight project

I'm just starting to put together ideas for a Janus model and I'm really struggling to figure out how to get started.

Parts that I know I want are.

  • Roughly primarch size, clearly larger than a modern terminator.
  • The titansword. not needed to be a cut and paste of the old Draigo model, but it would tie the line of Supreme Grand Masters together.
  • Terminator armor, this is the tough part to figure out. Convert a power armor primarch, print a terminator larger in size, etc....just not sure what to use for the base of this model.
  • Would like to have a casting pose or some way to reflect the psychic power and not a Voldus pointing a storm bolter nonsense.

Feel free to post here or PM me if anyone has thoughts they would like to share.
