    Bad haircut

I went to get a haircut the other day, I got bangs cut for my curly hair, hoping they would look good but it actually looks awful and I don’t know what to do. It has decreased my confidence so much and I don’t know what to do with these bangs. If you have any advice please help. My hair also can’t retain the curls, my curls went away after ten minutes. I’m so upset and it makes me want to quit my curly hair journey.

    Products?

Hi yall! I'm coming to you all to ask what strong hold gels you guys would recommend, preferably on the cheaper side if possible, but I’m open to anything. I have 2c-3a hair and am currently using the Aussie instant freeze, and while I feel it leaves a good cast for a little bit, I find my curls to be soft after they dry and my curls don’t hold up. I use a curl cream and brush that through, then use mousse to scrunch the heavy amounts of water out, and after applying gel and scrunching, I plop with a t-shirt. I’m open to any advice. Thank you all. 🫶

is porosity made up for marketing

kidding... kind of... I've been assuming I had high porosity this whole time because my hair is super coarse and frizz prone ESPECIALLY in the humidity. even the slightest bit of humidity and it's pointless even to attempt to style my hair. but i finally got around to doing the float test and it floated like a witch. someone explain now or I am going to assume you've all been scammed by Big Hair.

How do I get rid of or at least control my wavy hair

I have really wavy hair and I want to get rid of it. It started off curly and sort of morphed into waves over the period of about 2 years. Due to the nature of my hair (wiry and coarse) they're basically uncontrollable and I cannot style my hair whatsoever. I've tried lots of things including straightening it with hair straighteners and nothing seems to work. (Except for the straighteners, but even so the waves were not fully gone). I'm getting desperate for a solution now so any help would really be appreciated !!

Help please!! Partner needs tips on how to control his 2c-3b hair

We think his hair is low porosity. He just started using Moroccan Curl Cream and that’s helped with some frizz and giving the hair moisture. We don’t have a diffuser and honestly, I don’t think he’d use one lol. His shampoo and conditioner is Shea Moisture Curl & Shine or my Hairstory Co-Wash. This is 1-day hair with only Moroccan curl cream.

    Thank you!

    Moisture overload?

Sorry for the long post but I really need help. I have wet frizz and I saw on here that it could be either due to moisture overload or protein overload and I'm not sure what I have. I tried doing the porosity test with the cup of water and my hair just floats on top even after 15 minutes but I don't think my hair takes long to get wet but it does take like 3 hours to dry and I have a lot a lot a lot of hair. I think my hair is 2b or 2c. I checked all the products I use and only the gel I use has protein so I'm wondering if maybe my hair needs more protein? Is protein in gel enough or do I need to use shampoo or conditioner with protein? I think my hair might need more protein because no amount of gel will hold my curls and I've tried different gels. Idk if I just need to use strong hold gel but I never get a cast and I always have frizz. I've tried wet styling, plopping, damp styling. My mom says my hair is shiny and on day 2 of washing and styling hair, my hair has basically lost all the curls. I know it could also be bcs I slept on my hair but I think my hair needs protein. I've tried testing my hair strand to see if it's elastic but I would say it breaks kind of easy. It stretches a bit but not to the point where I think it's moisture overload but I also don't know because my hair is pretty shiny and I use ultra hydrating conditioner and hydrating leave in. Anyone have any tips please?

    My hair won't grow?

I'm not really sure how to use Reddit but honestly I just really need some advice. I consider my hair to be pretty healthy and I do take care of it. my hair isn't really short either it goes up to my shoulders and it's like 3b and 3c hair type. I don't really get my hair trimmed as of lately so it's starting to grow unevenly. however ever since maybe 7th grade my hair struggles to grow ? I'm not sure if it's something I'm using or something I'm not using, or maybe I'm not doing something but I feel like I've been the same length for ages.

    Overuse of product?

How much conditioner do yall use. I’m a guy so it’s probably different for the women, but I have to condition twice for my curls I notice or use a heck of a lot of conditioner to fully envelop my hair.

Wondering if there’s a better product I could use or something like that. I use ogx big blue bottles or the white ones if they have it. Think it’s ogx argan oil or something.

I think I run out of a bottle if I actually do my hair each day in like a week or week and a half give or take.

    Different Hair texture help/advice.

Hi! My hair is 2c but 3a in some parts. The top layer of my hair is more coiled but the bottom part of my hair close to my neck is 2B. I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong. All I needfor styling is a light crème (I like OUAI anti frizz crème and their leave in conditioner because my hair is very fine) also, I do not like using heat in my hair or blow dry/diffuse. TIA!

Frizzy and flat hair. What to do?

Hi all. I'm a guy with light to moderately wavy hair. Trying to figure out the deal with my hair. It has volume and shape when it's greasier but turns out flat after I wash with shampoo. I've tried a couple of things to no avail but not sure if I did it right or how long to keep up a routine to see results. Only using shampoo intermittently helps but it still tends to turn out somewhat frizzy and flat. Any tips on what I can do to keep my hair healthier and nicer looking? Trying to look less like a hobo these days.

How do you where you hair when just lounging around?

I’m a college student who’s off for summer and I don’t have a formal job right now, so a lot of the time I’m just lounging around. How do y’all where your hair when you’re just lounging around so it doesn’t get flat or knotted?

Does anyone else feel like they’ve become very critical over their hair after starting to take care of curls?

    I have type 2C hair.

I used to not know how to style it, and since I hated heat styling it was always really frizzy.

Now i’ve learned how to style my curls, but I’ve also become very critical over it😅 I nitpick over any frizz and it causes me to over style my hair and use too much product, which usually makes it feel stiff and crunchy.

I definitely need to find a balance with my hair, since I think I’ve gone to two extremes (Never styling my hair vs overstyling my hair)

So my goal for now is to relax with my hair and to leave it be 😅

I’m just curious if anyone else shares the same feelings?

Product for fine and frizzy curls that last in heat

I over heat a lot and it blows, and since it’s getting hotter where I am I’ve been much more sweaty and it’s been making my hair a horrible mess. I use Not Your Mothers - Kinky Moves; Curl defining hair cream. It works somewhat but once I start to get hot or sweat it’s ruined.

I have fine hair, so finding a product that will work and not weigh my hair down is hard for me : ( if you have recommendations lmk.

I’m not super rich either so reasonable prices are ideal pls!

    Sun protection for scalp?

So I've never been much of a hat person (my head is a bit big 😅) but since going for my naturally curly hair for the first time, I've realised how much more of my scalp is now on show due to my fine hair. I've gotten sunburned a couple of times in the last few weeks and I'm worried about the health risks. Hats will still be a nightmare for both my head size and hair (also not a great sensory thing, I'm AuDHD and stuff that feels constrictive/overheats me is a no). I've tried carefully applying facial SPF to the most exposed bits of scalp wherever the hair parts but it's tricky and obviously builds up/feels a bit greasy.

Can anyone offer any advice? Thank you!
