    How to fix ruined hair

Hi, I’ve been trying to grow my hair out from a bob since 2020. It’s still only at my collarbones.

I’ve damaged my hair so much. Bleached it three times, dyed it black for almost 3 years, and then bleach washed it 4 more times(all within a few months of each other).

I don’t feel like I’ll ever see myself with long hair, my mom cut it off my entire childhood and never let me grow it past my collarbones. I’m turning 26 this year and I remember crying at the idea of having to wait until I was 25 to have long hair back in 2020, but now I’ll have to wait even longer. This just really sucks, I wish I had just grown my natural hair out, I just have a very eccentric style and my hair is just brown.

On top of all of this, my hair is curly and it’s just a frizzy mess now, every time I try to curl it again, it just turns back into a bob so I just brush it out when it’s wet so it dries straight, and it’s so damaged it just does… 😂

If I braid it it comes out a frizzy mess and I can’t brush it without the same thing happening. If I put my hair in curlers they’ll stay like that until I wash it again, even if I try to brush it out. My roots are all curling and lifted (probably bc they aren’t damaged)

My hair routine is wash every 3-4 days with love beauty and planet, I put shea moisture leave in along with Madam split end smoothing serum and their healthy scalp serum. Refreshes always ruin my curls and make them fall out, pineapple buns pull my curls out, the only thing that works sometimes is twisting my hair into two or more buns.

I’ve tried several different diffusers over the years and this huge one from Curlsmith is my favorite.

This one came with the Curlsmith's Defrizzion Dryer.

Need helping finding alternative to Camille Rose

I’ve tried the Camille Rose Moisture Milk and although it’s very creamy and smells heavenly, I found it’s a bit heavy on my hair. Do yall know any creams that deliver goodness but are only a little bit lighter. I’m not talking too light cuz then my hair will get all frizzy. But a cream that delivers moisture without weighing down my hair

What dryer for Ouidad 3-in-1 Universal Diffuser??

I've been gifted a Ouidad Made For Curls 3-in-1 Universal Diffuser attachments set and they do not fit my current dryer. Does anyone know what specific dryer would work with these? It says these should fit nozzles 1.77-2.16 inches but it's been difficult to find nozzle dimensions for hair dryers online. I'm hoping there are some good options out there for less than $40.

    Dry, frizzy and thin help!

I recently moved and my hair has been feeling more and more dry and brittle and thin and I have a feeling it's the water, but before I spent money on a filter, I wanna make sure its not the products I'm using. I tend to wash my hair every two days, but wet it every day/other morning before school. My routine consists of wake up, Hop in the shower to condition Then put in leave-in and sometimes moose Then oil after it drys. Maybe I'm missing something or maybe it's too much but l'd really appreciate some help.

Product list: Mielle rosemary mint hair oil Moisture miracle leave-in cream Creme of nature Argan oil mousse Shea moisture conditioner

I lost my curly hair since moving from SC to CO and I don’t know what to do.

I moved to CO about 2 years ago and lost my curls. I thought they were gone forever until I visited SC again for 2 weeks and after 1 week of my hair getting used to it again, my curls were back. It’s obvious it’s a humidity issue but what can I do to help bring back just some of my curl/wave? I went from frizzy, curly hair to pin straight.

Is the only solution is to either suck it up or move again?

Yay ! Getting There Slowly But Surely

Routine : I wash once every 7- 10 days and condition afterwards...my hair can be extremely dry.I never use any heat or product and try not to brush it unless it's wet with conditioner in. I use simple products: mostly Pantene shampoos snd conditioners. My hair is wavy/ curly and though I love my curls, it's a great source of frustration while trying to grow my hair out ; I feel like the springiness of the curl hides new length. But, there are days, when I look at these photos and think: " Yes, maybe I can , eventually, have long hair ! ;)

    Rocking my curls!

Happy Saturday, curlies! Never underestimate the power of a great hair treatment to add bounce and life back into your curls. Routine: Wash hair with Innersense Hairbath, towel dry, and then rake through K18 treatment (link in comments) keeping in mind less is more. Let sit for 4 minutes. Do NOT rinse out and do not use conditioner. Then style as usual. I used Innersense I Create Memory gel brushes through in sections and then diffused.

    Styling problem or medical?

I have thick curly hair. Over the last year or so my hair has become very greasy, like even right after washing and when it's still wet sometimes it has that heavy, sticky feel to it. It often grows limp within a day and, well, gets greasy (and as I observed the other night, a LOT of buildup). Unfortunately, this has also led to more hair shedding than what's normal for me.

I have PCOS and assumed it was linked to my wacky hormones and also stress (and it might be). I've also wondered if it's the fact that my city has hard water and therefore have tried clarifying and using a hard water shampoo (to no avail). That said, however, when I had my hair cut and styled two weeks ago, it didn't feel like that at all afterward. Even for a few days after my hair and scalp felt clean and healthy. And the first time I washed it after, the effect lasted - no grease and less hair falling out. So now this has me wondering - is the greasy hair and buildup caused by something I'm doing?? I'm not entirely convinced as I stopped putting product in my hair so it's not that. I've even switched to a lightweight conditioner. And yet, why would I have a "cleaner" scalp (so to speak) after my stylist washed/styled it than when I do it? As far as I know, she didn't do any clarifying treatment; only shampoo and conditioner.

Just curious as now I don't know whether to change something in my routine or contact a dermatologist, LOL.

Has anyone dealt with something similar?

What to do with short hair in the wind?

Do any of you with short hair have tips on how you protect your curls from the wind?

My hair is short (chin-length), fine, and 2c/3a. I’ve only been working with my curls for a couple of months, and it’s been going pretty well, but I live in an area that’s very windy. That’s not been a problem during the cold weather because my hair is tucked under my satin-lined wool beret, but we recently had a day that was too warm for my hat. My hair is too short to pull back, and my curls got beat up badly by the wind. So with spring approaching, I could really use some advice on how to preserve my curls.

Went from straight to wavy at 36

I'm 36 years old and I'm just discovering that I might have wavy hair. I have had very straight hair and have used conditioner pretty much my whole life but last year, I discovered that conditioner was making my really frizzy, and it was falling out. Not sure if the hair fall was from the conditioner or stress related, but I stopped using conditioner and ever since, my hair started looking a lot healthier-- and curlier! This is my hair after shampooing and air drying. I did NOT brush it. When I do brush it, it looks frizzy again. Some strands just have a slight bend, and then some strands are visibly curly. If anyone has a similar hair type and has tips on how to manage it and perfect the waves, I'm all ears! Photo: https://imgur.com/a/r2yOV3D

curly hair with an under dye?

    hello!

im considering doing one of those grey under dyes, but i can't seem to find any examples with curly hair. i know i'll have to bleach the hell out of my hair, which im prepared for, but im more worried about how the coloring will look. does anyone have any experience doing an under dye? im worried that with the way curly hair lays it wont really have that peek-a-boo effect.

3A-3B on top and 1B-1C underneath

Hello! Like the title says, my hair is quite curly on top and very consistently 3A-3B, but the underneath layer is barely wavy. However, I have relatively thin hair so the underneath layer can’t easily be completely hidden, and the shrinkage difference makes haircuts and styles quite difficult to pull off. It’s worth noting that my hair is thin but definitely not fine.

Does anyone have any experience with this type of situation and could offer some advice?

    Routine:

Wash twice a week with Ouai shampoo and conditioner and do a hair mask once a week - NYM curl cream and gel - Diffuse

    Is my hair wavy?

Hello, need some advice! Usually, I don't scrunch my hair but it tends to wave when it's half dry, but when I wake up the next morning it's straight (mostly, still some waves but barely) and when I scrunch it, when it's half-dry it's curly but again, dryes straight. I don't use any products and I just use oily hair products + conditioner. Uh, is it wavy or, you know, straight? Also when I don't scrunch it it dryes super frizzy but then after some time just calms down and looks flat.

Is there a way to wrap hair in a shirt or microfiber towel that doesn’t look like a turban? (How about looks like a corps cap without the bill)

I just personally don’t like the look of turbans on my face shape/features and would enjoy drying my hair in a towel more if there was an alternative way to twist the towel.

    Tshirts Ruined from Scrunching?

I've had 2 white tshirts now that since the 2nd one has become stained I'm thinking it's because I used them both for scrunching out the extra product and water. My hair is not dyed. I use one product from LUS - their gel. Has this happened to anyone else and why? How can I fix my shirts? They're graphic tees so I can't bleach them.

Is leave-in conditioner necessary for wavy hair?

I use fragrance-free products for my hair because my skin has a bad reaction with fragrance-free products. Would just using gel be okay? I was going to use Curlsmith’s Leave-In Conditioner, but they’re out of stock. Thank you for any advice.

    My planned routine:

Curlsmith Shine Shampoo (with Bouclème Protein Booster mixed in)

    Curlsmith Shine Rinse-Out Conditioner

Use a Microfibre towel to scrunch the excess water out

Brush style with Bouclème Fragrance-Free Curl Defining Gel

    Air dry

Once a week: use Noughty Fragrance Free Shampoo in place of Curlsmith Shine Shampoo, and use Curlsmith Shine Rinse-Out Conditioner with Bouclème Protein Booster mixed in.

    hair care routine? :(

so basically i've recently been on a path of fixing my previously very damaged hair. it's gotten better as i've used more wavy/curly hair based products and i feel my hair is really showing it's real nature - like now i'm noticing i need some really hydrating products because my hair just gets so dry. anyway, i recently ran out of all my previous hair products (i was using shea moisture manuka honey and yogurt shampoo and conditioner and also the multi action leave in spray, also a mousse from strictly curls) which worked really well, but not well enough. so i'm looking to buy some new products and i'm wondering if you guys have any sort of recommendations?

i also have had bad experiences with gel because i just did NOT know how to work that out and my hair looked like crap for a whole year trying to figure it out and not waste any products

more info: my hair pattern is not really that consistent, but it ranges from most of the strands of hair being 2A-2C and others reaching 3A and rarely 3B. i previously applied my products by scrunching and combing it through (in sections and also just without when im lazy) i made sure my hair was pretty wet when i did this. my hair is also very thick and dries out extremely fast as mentioned previously.
