Hi guys, I'm starting school at Northridge in January, and I was wondering if I could get some insight on the school.
How's the campus vibe and overall look? What's the culture like? Any fun stuff do to in or around campus? How are the teachers and staff? Any good spots to study at?
Personal opinions?
Thanks guys, I appreciate it. I've only attended community colleges before this so I do have a general idea how college is like. Other than that I've done my undergrad and grad online so never really got to enjoy a campus for some time.
Any professor suggestions for capstone?? (Business majors)
Freshman here and I'm doing exploratory for now imma just listen this questions that I have so please answer them
To the people who are taking deaf studies right now. How is it? Pros and cons? How many book do you have to buy? And what are the good professors for that major?
To the people who are taking psychology. How is it? Pros and cons? How many book do you have to buy? And what are the good professors for that major?
Can I take intro classes for one or two majors I just mentioned?
To the juniors who actually decided on a major. Was it a good decision to wait? Did you feel behind when you didn't know what major you wanted to do?
If I actually decided a major can I do the other one as a minor? For example psychology as my major and deaf studies as my minor (or the other way around)
Right now I'm pretty stressed on what I want to do but I also want to wait until junior year to decide. But on the other hand I feel like I'm going to be left behind. And I have my advisement appointment tomorrow so..
Is there a two-day grace period for thesis corrections after the due date, or will I have to wait until next semester? My original due date was November 1, but I just got the request for corrections on November 6, with a two-day window to turn them in by November 8. When I try to submit the corrections on the ETD website, it says the deadline has passed. I'm in a tough spot because I have a job offer riding on getting my thesis submitted on time.
For those of us who commute to campus by car and park in any of the parking structures (G3 in particular) I just wanted to remind you that it's not a race track or a (closed) canyon road. 😭
I've had so many close calls the last few semesters trying to navigate the parking structure before someone cuts the entire corner going down each floor going really quick. Today around 2:15pm I was going up the second floor with a person in a black Honda Fit on coming, no headlights almost coming in contact with my car from cutting over.
It's not going to be pretty when two people get into a collision by cutting across the parking structure turn. Don't let it be you! Saving those few seconds to get down quicker isn't worth it at all, especially with how many nice/expensive cars park up as well. (insert YOU HIT A WHAT? to your insurance company).
I would also like to encourage people to turn on your headlights (if your vehicle has manual headlights) when the structures are dimly lit because it greatly improves visibility of your vehicle when coming around corners.
Perhaps taking this up with transportation services or campus police to install new equipment to prevent speeding in each of the structures would be worthwhile.
Anyone need a desk? Located in Reseda.
Can rooms in buildings be reserved to study with a big group?
For those of us commuting, the Moorpark area is being evacuated due to fire. Moorpark College has been closed and power has been shut down. Check Metrolink and Amtrak for any train delays going west through Simi, Moorpark, Camarillo. Stay safe out there.
Hey guys. I want to book a graduation photoshoot as an upcoming Spring 25 graduate. I want to know when I will have my cap/gown/sash etc. so i know exactly when to book the photoshoot. When do they usually distribute them? Much appreciated.
if you pay for all day parking can you leave and come back?
Was hoping to take Comp 122 for winter but don’t see it offered in any of the LACCD schools or Glendale CC. anyone know anywhere else? Or know if I can take it alongside Comp 210?
How many days do you typically go to school? Because my neighbor goes to school for 3 days doesn't go to school Mondays and Fridays which people are finding strange when I tell them and I'm very confused since I'm planning to go to Northridge (a dream school for me)
I'm waiting on a scholarship but this was sent to my main email not my school one.
Thinking about applying here someday and had a few questions. Why are there so many transfers? Is it worth doing all four years, I heard going to CC first would be better. What's the best part about the school?
Hey! I’m a sophomore in high school! Not so good grades but looking to change that! I was planning on majoring in psychology! I’m not from the US!
what’s yall dates bc mine is literally in december and i for sure know im getting shit classes
speaks for itself edit: none of you actually read my comments so, i get to school 20 minutes early and was still late to class because i physically cannot get off of floor 2 of the parking garage and 10 elevators came and passed because everyone thought i would just be able to get on the next one. i’m just throwing out the idea of equity.
if you’re pissed and have never been in a wheelchair then your opinion means nothing to me and i will run you over with mine :)))
I took an online course this semester to satisfy my upper level humanities and because I thought the subject matter sounded interesting. After the semester started, someone suggested I look at this professor's Rate My Professor profile, and the reviews were awful with very low ratings. I decided to give the benefit of the doubt and engage genuinely with the course and assigned readings.
There is A LOT of reading to do for this class, but I've done it all. I've never spent so much time reading and written so conscientiously as I have for this course. I email him frequently with questions and comments about the main novel we are reading and the supplemental material. He responds to maybe 75% of my emails.
The professor's feedback up until this point has been vague but positive. He just graded an essay worth a large part of our grade and just tore me to shreds, writing 200ish words implying that I've used summaries and other online sources, and that I don't have a real understanding of the symbolic language that I cited in my essay.
After putting in genuine effort, actually reading all of the assigned readings, writing and rewriting to do my best, using CSUN's writing center, asking him questions all the time, just really trying to give this professor the benefit of the doubt, I feel so defeated and disappointed. He is either confused about who I am (the student that's been emailing him weekly with questions, clearly indicating that I'm doing and thinking about the reading), or he is implying that I've used online summaries in bad faith for some reason (personal bias?? I have no clue).
I submitted the best essay I am capable of, I honestly don't know what else I could've done to turn in something more to his liking. I am going to continue trying my best but damn I am feeling more burnt out than I ever have with trying to complete this friggin degree.
I'm taking another course in the same department and that professor is very critical but is actually very helpful and I take the criticism in stride because I know I have loads of room for improvement and I do want to be a better reader and writer. The way this professor has offered critique just feels mean spirited, but maybe I do just have my own ego in the way? If that's the case, let me know to suck it up lol. Any advice or solidarity would be appreciated!
I just want to know incase it happens
anybody that uses the metro bus know how much they charge. I dont remember if its 1.50 or 1.75.
I'm a resident and obviously don't want to smoke in the dorms because fire alarm risk and courtesy (even though you can definitely smell that people do it anyway) and heard my RA and others say "just go across the street." I feel like a moron but do I just walk around the residential neighborhoods or...?
Mine is December 7th :( it feel so late everyone I know has earlier dates
Can you take CC courses to boost my undergraduate GPA? How does it work?
hi!! i’m not a current student at csun i’m at a cc rn and transferring after two years and i was wondering how hard the radiology program is to get into? my second option is the nursing program but i know for every nursing program it’s competitive.
Has everyone received their MCS already? I saw mine got posted on my portal then I see it goes to my history but I still haven’t received the money and I don’t owe any money. Kinda worried lol.
Sorry if this was already answered before but is there any reason that I got money from the school today?
