Don't know if this is specific to this sub, but might as well see if anyone had an opinion on it. 

To this day, I seriously have no idea how to explain what was happening to me and was wondering if anyone could weigh in and perhaps give me peace of mind. I moved from the Bay Area to a home in the midwest when I was around 11 years old. It was near the woods, which always freaked me out. One of those areas where it's dead silent at night and there's like one street lamp every two or three blocks. My room was on the second floor at the very front of the house. There were trees in the front of the house in the vicinity of my windows, but these were pear trees and were neither tall enough nor had branches long enough to even come close to scraping against the windowpanes or the walls. Anyway.

I don't remember exactly when it started happening, but one night I went to bed a bit later than usual (11:30 on the dot, because I remember I knew my mom would come upstairs and go to her room at exactly that time every night). I remember closing my eyes and immediately hearing something make noise at the window at the foot of my bed (slightly left from being at the center). It was between a scratching and knocking sound. I let it go on for a minute before I turned my lights on, at which time it stopped. I brushed it off as something kinda creepy and forgot about it - until it happened every night at the same time until I moved away for college. Every single night. The same window, the same sound, the same routine of getting it to stop. Knowing things that I've seen when I've been in the woods, could it be some sort of thing that followed me? I really don't know what it could be and it's been bugging me since I left home a few years ago. 

Hi I tried submitting this years ago to top5unknowns but they didn’t even respond to my email. I live in North England and i’m now in my late 20s. When I was maybe 14 me and 2 friends were in our local woods where we’d hang out and mess around in almost every day for years so we knew it like the back of our hands, however we one day were in and saw this thing from afar across a field maybe 70 metres away we were always in/around, looked like an old woman type stature and was relatively hunched over with drapes like robe type drapes and drapes over the face, walking with a limp. It was so weird I vividly remember one friend saying “what the fuck is that” in a laughy tone and we all started laughing, I remember it turning its head toward us and we darted back out of the woods into the estate. Since then none of us have seen or heard anything like it and I’ve been walking my dog through to this day weekly. And no I have never seen any hunched old people in them woods in my almost 20 years of going in there alone or with friends as it isn’t very even or solid ground for people of that description! I’ve told past girlfriends and even my parents and been met with laughter every time, however me and them 2 friends recount this exactly the same as me. Still interests me to the day!

After my friend woke up, she told me about the angry texts she received from her mother about the mess we left on the porch. She said she had come outside to smoke at 2:45am and all was normal except for the fight their pit bulls had over my almost full plate. At first, she accused of us laziness and didn’t take things seriously. After we sat down with her and fully explained what happened, she cut us some slack for being afraid, but still insisted that we basically fed off each other’s fear and convinced ourselves the incident was worse than it truly was. Creepy sounds just happen late at night out in the country sometimes.

Over the course of the day, doing housework, playing with the baby, talking about my impending engagement and wedding plans, we began to convince ourselves that her mother might have been right… Until she took me home.

She put the baby down at 6:30pm and, with her husband there to hold down the fort, immediately drove me home. At 7, just as we were settling in at my place, her mother calls to tell us that the dogs were alerting in an extremely aggressive way to the opposite side of the garage (huge garage that my friend’s apartment is built in,) the side that their bedroom window is on. Growling, snarling, fur bristled, very out of character for them. When she peeked around the corner to see what they were reacting to, nothing was there. Even after she calmed them down and coaxed them back to the porch of the main house, they would not stop staring at the garage.

When my friend returned home a bit after midnight, she called me to make sure she made it into her place safely because she had the creepy “watched” feeling again but made it inside uneventfully.

As far as I know, nothing new has happened in the last 24 hours. If there are any further updates, I’ll add them to this post.

Me and my friends have been wondering and I want to get y’all’s opinions

Hello! I am making this post because I see so, so much chaos and controversy covering this topic, but it's something I want to cover as someone with a long standing interest in cryptids and folklore. If you ask several people what a cryptid is, you will likely get very different answers. Now put them in the same room, and chaos will unfold. Some people dont understand that the definitions of words change over time and/or gain double meanings, and I beleive that is the case for cryptids. Cryptozoology as an idea is simple, the study of unknown or hidden animals (this excludes any definite humans, spirits, extinct known animals, most paranormal entities (some may have exaggerated, but logical origins), godlike entities or non-animals) but should hypothetically not in definition exlude any undiscovered animals with supposed unatural abilities, or any other mortal nonhuman beings unknown to science. The term "cryptid" has over time evolved into a blanket term for creatures of primarily American folklore, considering many are incorporated into folklore, and therefore end up having more correlation between the two groups.truthfully and unfortunately, Many of these creatures even the most die-hard cryptzoologists beleive in were results of the 50s-70s Pop culture monster boom, or were directly revealed to be hoaxes. Now there are defences and objections to both sides, although I find it particularly interesting how many cryptids appeared suddenly in this time frame, and after the boom, and then suddenly decreased in the amount of new creatures showing up. Despite this, I still do beleive in some of these cryptids though. Once again covering the definition, being unknown, I find it very silly how so many people are certain they know everything about them, and which ones are real, and which ones a wasted hillbilly made up. they are unknown and simply that, but then again, as i've claimed the term can be vague at times, and is up to interpretation. I'm interested to hear what you all categorize as a cryptid, although I do not want to start any arguments, and would rather gather info.
