Possibly the worst invading subreddit on the site.

/r/cringe and /r/cringepics have become the home of the most vile bullies of Reddit.

This subreddit is for discussing, complaining, and generally raging about the cringeworthy "discussions" going on over at those subs.

Oh, and for some extra bitterness, be sure to visit /r/SRDbroke.

/r/cringepics keeps upvoting shitty rage comics despite the fact that they are shitty rage comics

http://www.reddit.com/r/cringepics/comments/1je56r/this_was_just_submitted_into_f7u12_some_classy/

Seriously WHY do they keep doing this. This comic doesn't even seem real, it's just a troll. Yet comics like these get thousands of upvotes because "they're cringey".

Is it some form of reverse psychology? Like "Well I'm not viewing it on f7u12, I'm viewing it in cringe, therefore upvote because ...?" Or some kind of idiotic group mentality? Or are the trolls upvoting this shit too? I really hope it's the latter

STOP LIKING WHAT I DON'T LIKE! (X-post /r/openbroke and /r/circlebroke)

/r/cringe is getting really, really close to dethroning /r/atheism as the worst subreddit. The sheer number of bullies and douchebags on that sub is astounding, and the fact that they can't even keep their circlejerk on their own website is just obnoxious. Let's start off slow, and read some Reddit comments first. Their original post can be found here

I was having trouble breathing just watching that big guy in the hall

This is exactly what I'm talking about. What's the joke here? The fact that the guy was fat. That's it. "lol le fat guy XDDDDD"

I have no idea how he survived HS with that amount of social suicide

Because the bully movement has been weakened in recent years :(

I pretty much lost my shit here. /r/cringe, the bullying center of Reddit, is talking about the decline of bullying. HA HA HA. HA HA.
HA.

How the fuck does this happen? It truly baffles me...this "culture" must be the greatest performance art piece in history because I refuse to believe it's real.

Yes, it's all just a joke. Not a single person on this planet likes things that you don't, or acts in a way you find dumb. They're all just joking.

If they could just admit it's a fetish, I wouldn't hate them nearly as much.

This is like saying that everyone who likes furries also faps to them. There are a lot of people who only follow the fanbase because it makes their dick hard, but the vast (or not so vast with furries, sorry) majority just like the artstyle/content. So, no. It's not a fetish.

It bothers me how much people make fun of these people. I know I'm going to get a ton of people down voting or disagreeing, but hear me out. If you look at these guys, you see that these don't look like the kind of guys who would walk around school holding hands with a girl, they look like the typical guys who get made fun of for everything. In my eyes, they're rejected kids, who found a group of people who accept them, and they're STILL getting made fun of for it, but at least they have the balls to stick with it.

TL;DR: Although I don't like the MLP thing, it's what makes them happy, and it's kind of shitty how much people bully them.

What's this? Someone being a decent human being? That can't happen! Luckily, /r/cringe was here to correct his ways.

You're worse than the standard bullies in a way when you pity them so openly. Maybe they COULD be average guys that held girls hands if they groomed better, dressed differently, and acted like adults.

If they act exactly like me, then I'll treat them like human beings.

Why is the video getting downvoted on Youtube?

Because it contains bronies.

And it was linked to cringe.

At least they're self aware.

You breathin' heavy as hell, I know you hungry.

lol le fat people! want sum mcdonalds fatty lolololol trololo XDDD

Think this is bad? Think that these douchebags are deplorable? Wait! There's more! These YouTube comments are quite possibly the worst thing to come out of the subreddit.

Keep in mind, most of these dislikes are from Reddit and those that posted the dislike don't know about the community and friendship we all offer.

Guarantee you've thought about killing yourself at points in your awkward life.

Okay, fine. The first comment was a bit weird, but really? Was that necessary?

where are the fedoras?

Wow, what a gem! You must've spent eons thinking of that hilarious and original joke! Gee, when's your stand up routine going on tour?

As much as I would like to be proven wrong about the majority of bronys being fucking awkward gay nerds I keep seeing shit like this. lmao shit is ridiculous

Yup. We're all gay nerds. We will never be able to compare to the glory of your ripped muscles and harem full of women, you sexy beast.

They look like kid fuckers.

Setting aside the fact that you're ALSO judging them on how they look, what exactly made you look at these people and think "they're all pedofiles"? Oh, wait, you only posted that as part of the "le reddit cringe army".

This is the reason Bullying needs to exist in schools.

I've actually seen this kind of comment about four times now. Are you serious!? Because some people don't act the way you want them to, you advocate bigger people beating the shit out of them? You are literally scum. Oh, by the way, 99 people thumbed this up, and only 22 thumbed it down.

...................

How insightful! I'm glad you posted that.

I bet they're all friendzoned too

Again with the amazing comedians!

Autism: The Motion Picture

Making fun of two groups of people at once. Great job!

lol, "theres a lot of tolerance in the community"

Tolerance is exactly how they ended up this way!

YOU.
ARE.
SCUM.

That's it. I'm done. You can all go home now.

Oh reddit, you're so hypocritical (x-post from circlebroke)

edit. An alternative title would be 'Countchocula86 doesn't find most puns funny'

There was a post in /r/cringepics a few days ago showing off a picture of a product that's basically a magic 8-ball with memes and some internet catchphrases

Of course its met with the same sort of comments you'd expect

Oh, you mean the "I watch the Big Bang Theory" nerds.

Marketed toward grandmas shopping for millenials.

OMG xD Its so geeky n random! LOLz :p I get it though, cuz I'm a huge nerd xDD

Which is not necessarily bad, I mean the product itself is pretty stupid.

But then today this gets posted in /r/funny. Now admittedly the comments are pretty lukewarm with most people calling out how cliche the shirt is but the post got upvoted. Its at +1920. People thought it was 'funny' enough to rise to the top.

The shirt is a picture of a period table with the text 'I wear this shirt periodically'. I get what the joke is going for, but it's just not funny. It doesn't work if you understand the chemistry, and I think even if you don't it doesn't get any better. But its funny enough for /r/funny to upvote.

Meanwhile on the /r/cringepics post someone commented

Will I be forever alone?

PWND

;(

I think both the ball and the shirt would make me cringe equally. In fact, I almost wonder how it would have gone down if that shirt was posted in r/cringepics instead. Do redditors even know what they're up/downvoting?

A video in r/cringe with unsympathetic comments (x-post from r/circlebroke)

This is my first post in circlebroke...I hope I don't sound too bitter or that I'm missing the spirit of the comments, I was generally just offput by the comments both in that thread and on YouTube.

Link: www.np.reddit.com/r/cringe/comments/1as4u9/woman_after_30_years_of_eating_nothing_but_cheese/

The premise of the story featured in the link is that a woman was featured on a show, in light of her diet of the past 30-odd years being cheesy potatoes. When her husband of 7 years attempts to feed her even a piece of something that isn't cheesy potatoes (the video features Brussels sprouts), her gag reflex activates and she starts to cry. She clearly has an eating disorder and cannot stand to be around, smell or taste food that isn't cheesy potatoes.

There are a few points I wanted to address about this, and the main issue I had with it is its universality in the comments.

that husband has put up with that shit for 7 years, I cant even comprehend that

Except that she was like that when they got married, obese and addicted to cheesy potatoes. What was this guy thinking in the first place?

Alone and desperate.

This addresses one of my first problems with this thread. First off, the commenters assume they automatically know who the husband and wife are despite this tiny vignette from a television show. None of us can pretend we know the formula for how people get married, but ideally it's out of mutual love and respect. The comments seem to see it fit to either sympathize unilaterally with the husband or (and this is part 2), demonize the wife. I don't wish to deny that the husband has it rough that he must live with someone who clearly has a pathological burden. However, he chose it for himself, and knew fully well who she was. He shouldn't have to feel bad about being married to his wife or receive sympathy, that's his wife, and he loves her.

People like this need to be put in a third world country and see what's really worthy crying about.

You know what? Fuck her. If I show you three sides to the square and you can't find the fourth side, that's your failure.

     >Uhh, erm.....

can't you just be an alcoholic or something normal? jesus fucking christ.

I may have laughed a little too much at her crying.

The woman in the video is deserving of far more sympathy when she receives. I know this isn't r/YouTubebroke, but the comments in the YouTube video itself seem to echo all of the sentiments in the thread. She's just a "fat bitch," wretched and needing to be put out of her misery. No one considers the sorrow she must feel for not being able to eat the Brussels sprout, everyone just considers how rough the husband has it. I'm not sure if this is misogyny or anti-obesity, but there is only one voice which suggests she needs counseling in the comments.

She clearly went through a traumatic episode around the time that she was forced to eat that stuff when she was a child. This is more sad than freaky--she needs some counseling.

How can none of them put themselves in her shoes, and understand how miserable she must feel not to be able to eat anything other than cheesy potatoes? None of them think how she'd love nothing more than to eat a healthy meal with her husband, and pull through it. Granted, she doesn't exactly look unhappy eating the potatoes in some of the clips they show, but the scene with the sprout is very telling about the deep-seated sorrow she felt about not being able to enjoy other foods. They all seem to think she believes everything's hunky-dory with her diet, and that she'd indulge in that one-dish diet if she were somehow able to be delivered.

I'm not sure how to conclude this rant, but I'd like to say that I wish people had a broader view and tried to understand and learn more about why things the way they are before they pass such ugly judgments, especially when they serve to put down someone who might need help.

Top comments that I didn't post were mainly jokes not related to the discussion, but child comments of most of the top comments have some objectionable content.

Another (sorta) sympathetic voice since I started on this:

She has a very stupid mental illness brought about by a complete lack of stress or urgency at any point in her entire life. It's clear that she isn't "faking" the severe reaction to other foods; it's a real mental block. But it's still pathetic. She should get help and her parents should be ashamed that they allowed something like this to begin and persist throughout a child's life.

A submitter is a brony? Time to bring out the superiority!

One of the big problems of /r/cringepics is the bullying of bronies and the brony hate crowd sure has the subreddit in its hands. It's one giant big circlejerk, where you won't find any opinion different from the cringepics crowd getting upvoted.

A lot of people don't understand "bronies". That's okay. A fraction of "bronies" are cringeworthy people. that's okay too. To let a fracttion of weirdos determine the nature of a larger group of people is not okay. Those people do not in any way define how I feel about my little pony:friendship is magic, and neither do you. I am a 21 year old female, and I think Pinkie Pie is the best pony on the show. MLP basically gave me an outlet to cope with my severe depression, and I watch the show because I want to. I like my facebook this way because it's more fun and more interesting than the way facebook looks normally. That is my choice. You are allowed to not like it. -160

It is a very valid opinion. If she feels that way about MLP, sure why the hell not, let her enjoy it, what's it up to you.

But NOOOOO, the cringe crowd knows best and pretends this is so much more cringeworthy than the original submission, than showing some kind of respect toward another persons decisions and likings.

She gets downvoted to hell and back just for writing her opinion and not for being a douche or somewhat illogical. Just the fact her being a brony enrages these bigots.

Somehow you've become more painful than your original content.

Yes, somehow its very easy to outmanoveur a misogynist by just being a brony!

Hey and the fact, that she got a relieve for her depressions doesn't stop them being mean and ridiculing her.

MLP basically gave me an outlet to cope with my severe depression

I literally squirmed reading this.

Buahahahahah depression is so funny!!!

The subredditdrama thread isn't nearly as much as bad, but they even manage to break the jerk and won't be onesided.

There are a couple factors.

First: they're in r/cringepics. This invokes a sort of group mentality where you're encouraged to be an asshole because Bronies are dehumanized there. They're not just a person who likes a show, they're fucking Brony scum. Bronies are the low-hanging fruit in that sub. You don't need to defend anything you say or speak with any level of tact or moderation; you just get internet points for being mean to the weirdo.

Second: Confirmation bias plays a role here. They're in a sub dedicated to the socially awkward. The point is not to see people who like the show without being extreme about it; the point is to laugh at the idiots who dress up as ponies and go to meetups. The idea of a person liking MLP without being extreme about it doesn't exist for r/cringepics because they only see the people who are extreme about it.

Third: I don't know the psychology terms here, but I'll try to explain. They do like those types of "nerdy" things and they feel somewhat persecuted by society because of it. This serves to give them a status quo where people who like unusual things get made fun of for it. They're justified in making fun of Bronies because everyone who likes something different gets made fun of. They also pick that target because those are some of the few people lower than them in social standing. "Yeah I might be a nerd, but at least I'm above those fucking pedophiles". Everyone wants to be better than someone.

Sorry, you probably didn't even want a reply like this. I just felt like typing this morning. I've never even watched a full episode of that show but it annoys me how people are not only being assholes when she didn't even do anything, but piling on when she's not even defending herself.

And they upvoted this to +55

So cringepics even manages to be worse than SRD. SRD are actually the mature guys over there not springing on the bronyhate band wagon.
