With an aging squad, its looking like we're going to through like what happened at the turn of the decade when Langer, McGrath, Warne, Husset and Hayden and many more retired. There was a huge vacuum and I have a feeling thats going to happen again.
Only one player in their test squad is below the age of 30 being cameron green. While I have full faith in the Australia domestic scene to fill up these positions, you can't tell me that it will be hard to recreate our magical bowling team of Cummins, Hazlewood, Starc and Lyon.
I think the most important thing for the selector is to have faith in their choices. The whole drama on warners replacement has been bad, and it would be worse if it happens to the rest of the squad.
In the end this is a good problem to have. The reason youngsters haven't been getting test caps, is because the players have been staying fit.
India is currently in this changing of the guard, and its pretty clear the same is going to happen to australia.
Who do you think is the future of the team.

I tried in vain to find any statistics about the average number of balls (not runs) an opening combination face before the first wicket falls in test cricket.
Obviously there's going to be a lot of different variations to how you could spin this stat (per pair, by team, by country of game) but I couldn't find much at all (one article about Warner and a bunch of related stats e.g. https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/who-are-the-greatest-openers-and-opening-pairs-in-tests-anantha-narayanan-1451803 ).
My curiosity about this is partly around the selection of McSweeney and more generally around how much newer the ball is in recent times (due to higher scoring rates) when the number 3 comes in.
Does anyone know of any stats on this?

Hi all, apologies if the question is too dumb. I’m flying out from New York for the Boxing Day test for this year, Its been a childhood dream to see it at the G’. Had questions regarding how the ticketing works, I see 0$ tickets for Day 2in the ticketec website, am I missing something why are they 0$? Can anyone in very simple terms lay out how that thing works, I’m guessing MCC reserve and AFL reserve tickets aren’t for me to book and are privy to a few exclusive members? Any insights would be helpful.
Cheers!
