Do you still get all the benefits from cranberry juice (UTIs, vitamins, antioxidants, heart, liver) if you add Coke Zero so that it isn't so sour?

What are the benefits of cranberry supplement?

Cranberry supplements offer several potential benefits, primarily due to the high concentration of nutrients and bioactive compounds found in cranberries. Here are some of the key advantages:

  1. Urinary Tract Health: Cranberry supplements are commonly used to promote urinary tract health. They contain compounds like proanthocyanidins, which may help prevent bacteria like E. coli from adhering to the urinary tract walls, thus reducing the risk of urinary tract infections (UTIs).
  2. Antioxidant Properties: Cranberries are rich in antioxidants, such as flavonoids and vitamin C, which help combat oxidative stress in the body. Antioxidants protect cells from damage caused by free radicals, which are unstable molecules that can contribute to various chronic diseases and aging.
  3. Heart Health: Some research suggests that cranberry supplements may have a positive impact on heart health by improving cholesterol levels and reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease. The antioxidants in cranberries may help lower LDL (bad) cholesterol levels and increase HDL (good) cholesterol levels.
  4. Digestive Health: Cranberry supplements may also support digestive health. They contain dietary fiber, which promotes regular bowel movements and helps prevent constipation. Additionally, the anti-inflammatory properties of cranberries may benefit individuals with inflammatory bowel conditions like ulcerative colitis.
  5. Immune System Support: The high vitamin C content in cranberries can bolster the immune system, helping the body fight off infections and illnesses. Vitamin C is essential for the production of white blood cells, which are crucial for immune function.
  6. Dental Health: Compounds found in cranberries may help prevent the formation of plaque on teeth, reducing the risk of cavities and gum disease. Additionally, cranberry supplements may inhibit the growth of bacteria associated with dental plaque and periodontal disease.
  7. Anticancer Potential: Some studies suggest that the phytochemicals present in cranberries, such as flavonoids and polyphenols, may possess anticancer properties. These compounds have been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells and reduce the risk of certain types of cancer, including breast, prostate, and colon cancer.

Overall, cranberry supplements can be a convenient way to incorporate the health benefits of cranberries into your diet, especially for individuals who may not enjoy the taste of fresh cranberries or have difficulty consuming them regularly. However, it's essential to consult with a healthcare professional before starting any new supplement regimen, particularly if you have underlying health conditions or are taking medications.

My partner calls Cranberry Sauce "Chicken Jam"

My partner Georgina cooks a delicious chicken roast dinner most Sundays, but she is offended for some reason when I put Cranberry Sauce on my plate. So, she calls it, in a very derisory way, "Chicken Jam". Does anyone else call Cranberry Sauce "Chicken Jam?" I'm guessing not.

Georgina and I will be discussing this, and other burning issues of the day, in Episode 4 of our podcast Sowerby & Luff Deluxe which comes out next week.

Out of the bag?

So, I have an unusual penchant. I like eating frozen cranberries out of the bag. I know it sounds weird, some might throw around the word gross, but don't judge, unless you want to be judged. Hopefully, I will be surrounded by allies on this sub reddit. I just pray the internet my have mercy on my immortal online persona.

Oversized Oceanspray jugs

For people who grew up in the 90's, I remember cranberry juice jugs the size of water cooler jugs. I was wondering if there are still companies that make them at that size...
