I'm looking to find 1 or 2 people to carpool and ski at A-Basin tomorrow (11/2) or Sunday (11/3). Skiing or snowboarding, doesn't matter to me (I Ski). I likely won't go up right when they open as they only have one run ope. Preferably 18-20/21 as I'm 20 and would like to ski with people around my age. Let me know ASAP.
Be the last ASAP ski area, I wouldn’t be surprised if Tuesday is the day if what is projected on Monday delivers. I also wonder with the new snow guns if they will open more?
The wolf dressed up as February conditions for Halloween! The sharks were definitely still spooky 🦈
How old was your kid when you first got them on a snowboard and how did you do it cost effectively? My guy will be about 20 months this winter by the time snowfalls and I’m dying to get him riding. I was planning to just get him comfortable at local parks in Denver before taking him up to the resorts. Resorts wouldn’t happen this year.
Which would be better early season? I’m not from here so I have no idea. Also curious about parking, I see that copper has a free lot what about a basin? It’s not clear on a basin website although I do see reservations required starting in December, is it free now?
Feeling very very confident on an opening tomorrow, especially with the parking reservations going into effect tomorrow as well.
Predictions?
Gf and I are thinking of driving up from Texas to visit Wolf Creek around New Years. My question is how hard will it be to drive around the area? I only have a little VW GTI and we will either be staying in Pegosa or South Fork. Do they keep the roads clear? Is 4WD needed? TIA
I'm thinking of trying Snowstang out this season. How does the posted schedule compare with reality?
For example, it doesn't seem possible to leave Wooly Mammoth at 7:15 and get to Loveland at 8:00, even on a weekday that would be impressive.
Doing my best to make 3” look deep.
There has to be someone in this subreddit who works at keystone that can tell us when they’ll open.
So with the new season around the corner , would love to hear cool ideas on how to not mistaken others for your friends.
Last season, we went to Steamboat on Feb 3rd&4th . We were having a blast , it was powwow day and we liked to spray the pow on each other.
So…….. there were a couple standing on the slope and they dress exactly like my friends, I decided to go hard and spray the snow all over the guy, then I realized he was not my friend when he shouted something at me !!! I felt bad and it was embarrassing. ( If you guys saw this post , I’m truly sorry😭)
One of the idea can be wearing costume: I’ve seen Santa, T Rex , Teletubbies, Butt naked and etc.
Note: We usually don’t have this problem when it’s sunny but sometimes it’s hard when it’s snowy or cloudy.
Thanks all !
I am skiing at Wolf Creek for at least one day during the week of Thanksgiving. I started skiing again 3 years ago after about a15 year absence. The last time I was at Wolf Creek I was probably 18 years old and didn't care if I got stuck up on a black run. I am 59 years young now and do care now.. lol . I think I remember at Wolf Creek getting stuck up on one of those black diamond ridges and doing the sit-and-slide down the mountain. I have skied the last 2 seasons at Keystone in their beginner areas and spent a lot of time on Schoolmarm. I can parallel ski fine, I don't mind blues if they don't have a bunch of moguls and aren't too steep. I have looked at the Wolf Creek map and I see near the upper lot Bonanza Chair and Raven Chair, but I was also wondering if the green runs from Raven's Nest are too flat. If I go up on Treasure's Stoke, will the Tranquility Run or Summer Day be good choices?
Very excited to be back to Wolf Creek!
I spent half an hour at copper Mt PHQ this morning, it was not a fun drive back down to the Aerie. This was just before the snow started falling thankfully.
Were so fucking close yall....
looking to do sledding and the gondolas. not too worried about skiing but i'm open to try it. i want somewhere that has christmas events going on. somewhere affordable to stay pls 🙂
Hey community leaders!
We’re looking for some passionate folks to help organize ski and snowboard adventures this winter. In June, we launched KAYV in Denver, and now we’ve got around 2,000 guys involved. Our goal is to help people make lasting friendships through small group hangouts focused on shared interests.
With some of the world’s best skiing and boarding terrain right in our backyard, we have tons of guys eager to hit the slopes. If you’re interested in helping to bring people together for these powder days, drop a comment here or shoot me a DM.
Here’s to an epic powder season! 🏔️🎿
Snowmaking progress at Keystone, A-Basin and Copper as of yesterday, 10/27/24. These are low-resolution satellite images taken every few days by the European satellite Copernicus.
Relatively warm overnight weather has made high-quality snowmaking a bit of a challenge, but middle of this week, that should hopefully change. A-Basin's Al Henceroth has hinted at opening day falling around next weekend.
A-Basin and Keystone drive a lot of excitement with early openings on High Noon and School Marm. But Copper Mountain's "Copperopolis" trail is also, secretly, among the very first runs to open along the i70 corridor. Right now in particular it seems to have the best coverage. It's a relatively short trail starting out at 12,000', higher than the other two pods. But don't get too excited ... Copper typically opens super-early only for racers on official teams.
