Smart meter installs

I got an SMS from someone claiming to be from TLI Group working on behalf of ESB, saying he is in the area and installing smart meters and wants to call Monday morning.

Has anyone else had them call?

He has my name, phone number and address … and TLI look legit so it looks okay.

Any reason to opt out of a smart electric meter? I read somewhere that getting a smart meter is okay, but just make sure the plan you are on makes sense for you (some smart rates aren’t as good as a standard plan).

Thanks!

Spotlights in city

So these spotlights that are coming from a venue (Sky bar in Clancys I think, but not sure), I'm just curious if they actually draw customers in, or if that have any benefit at all?

Witnessed 2 shoplifting attempts by a nutcase couple in a row.

So. I went from McCurtain Street To St. Patrick Street, went into a Centra to buy some pastry bc I just wanted a pastry dammit. But I couldn't grab any cuz' a Tall, blond woman comes running at the door with a box of big Diet Coke cans, and gets caught by security before getting out. Security was a pretty bulky man and she starts yelling "I'm PREgNaNt, dOnT ToUcH Me!!" And a guy was with her, and instantly tried to pick a fight with the guard. But then I got fed up and yelled, from the opposite end of the store because I like my face un-punched, "If you were really pregnant, you shouldn't be robbing Coke!"

They got kicked out, I managed to buy a pastry, and then I start heading back to the place I'm staying at, somewhere in McCurtain street. I walk near a Spar store and THE SAME COUPLE are getting kicked out of there too!

I go into the store because I'm a 23F shortstack walking alone, I Just Poked A Hole in that nutcase lady's claims at the last store, and I still like my face un-punched, thanks.

It might've been 9pm, but is it truly so bad to go looking for hot chocolate at that hour!?

Edit: They failed at both stores, and I saw the guard knocking the cans out of her hands in the first one. When I went into the second one (cuz' safety in numbers), there were knocked BEER CANS on the floor. That lady was SO NOT PREGNANT.

Where to get a scratch on a vehicle repaired in Cork?

Price being the biggest concern. Naturally looking for somewhere with reasonable prices that still does the job to a high standard.

I’m willing to go anywhere in Cork city/ county and bordering counties.

Would be great if anyone could give me a rough idea of what their repair costed & the extent of damage that it was for.

Donate clothes

I have some fairly nice and in some cases unworn clothes that I’m just not a fan of anymore. Looking to donate them.

Any charity shops I can give them to that will sell for a fair price and will go to a good cause?

Abandoned/Lost Cat

Hi all,

Found a cat that may be lost/abandoned. Found it up by the back airport road at one of the airport gates close to the ATC tower and the viewing crossroads. I think it's maybe a year old or so and has been there a few days. He's very friendly. Please comment or DM if you know anyone who may be missing a cat.

Charleville accident.

Anyone know the story? Cops are all over North Cork.

Was it related to the ongoing nonsense between families?

Talking at Gigs

People, if you want to have a full blown conversation why do it at a gig ruining it for everyone else....I will never ever understand this. Literally any pub or cafe you can have a grand chat but why do it in middle of a gig.

Is there any spot on the Blackpool/Shandon area similar to the beer garden in Turners Cross?

Somewhere that's good for a bite to eat whilst watching a match?

Audience stunned after Small Things Like These

Went last night to Mahon to see it, really intense and dark movie but so simple at the same time. Cillian Murphy is great as expected, everyone in the cinema was silent when the credits were rolling!

Would recommend!!

Driveway/concrete contractors

Does anyone have any recommendations for driveway/concrete contractors in cork city? I need people to cut out a concrete driveway and re-pour with a different gradient

Wary of the potential cowboys that normally advertise such services

Why do so many tourists come to Cork?

No offense to people from Cork (I've lived in Cork most my life) but I find this city/county very boring. There's nothing to do--no theme park.

New nightlife dynamic?

Hey guys, I was walking through the city last night and it felt there was a real noticeably positive difference in the city's night-time dynamic compared to this time a year or two ago. From the amount of people around, the cool new light installations on the bridges and Patrick St as well as an actual police presence, it felt very vibrant. I was wondering if anyone else has noticed this and if so is it a particular issue that the council or any particular councillors and pursing?
