I have had the worst luck with injectors, my Butcher BBQ Pistol Grip injector broke this year, couldn't screw it together anymore the threads on the plastic part where gone and it was super tough to fill with injection. I also bought the OK Joe Siphon injector that broke the first time i used it, the handle just popped off and never went back on.
I really like the siphon style injector are there any better ones out there that work similar to it?
Any websites with comprehensive lists of upcoming competitions? Looking to try my hand at competing for the first time but no clue where to start. I’m located in south Mississippi and specifically looking for something within a few hours from home.
Thanks!
Does anyone here do this? Its at the end of September. It is fixing to open up for applications for this year.
Curious if you do how you chose your nonprofit? Our nonprofit is looking for a BBQ Pit or a booth to be sponsored by, and curious how others chose theirs.
My boss is really big into smoking meats. Anyone have one gadget or cool item they bought or received as a gift that they can't live without? Gift ideas?
I have tried numerous recipes and can’t seem to even get top 10.
I could use some input advice or even someone generous enough to share a receipt
Most cooks all ingredients have to be smaller than the bean
If you did, what does the deal look like? I know a handful of people that own companies and I've thought about reaching out to them for next year, but I don't know what to offer or ask for. Any advice would be appreciated. Just trying to offset some of the costs.
Where/how do you source brisket and ribs for competition?
ThermoPro Lightning is 40% off on Amazon and they have a 25% off code that you can use at checkout and it comes to $41 after tax, pretty good deal.

Our team Magically Piglicious was rejected from the Memphis World Championship BBQ Cooking Contest with the new changes being made to Tom Lee Park, and I'm more than a little bit upset about it. This would have been our 18th consecutive year going, with nary a complaint and always having been if not winners, at least moderately competitive. The selection criteria seemed entirely opaque to us. We can apply to be on the "wait-list", but even that seems unlikely to actually result in us getting in. I guess I don't have a point other than to rant, but it really chaps my hide
UPDATE: found a couple BBQ stores in KC that carry SNF at good stock! Check your local BBQ stores!
Where does everyone get their comp brisket? We have ordered through Snake River Farms the last couple times, they have had low stock recently and looking for alternatives. We have contacted local butchers and it seems rare for them to have/order wagyu.
Thanks!
I smoke some cut of meat for my family 2-4 times a week but The one I excel at is tri-tip. I know nothing about competition smoking but I’d be interested in competing in a tri-tip specific competition since that is my specialty and the only cut I get perfect every single time.
We're you part of the beta cooks? Did you take the judging test? What do you think about it?
My (2) brothers and my dad have gotten really into smoking meat and started throwing around the idea of entering a competition for the fun/experience.
Well, in a month there is a KCBS sanctioned event in our small hometown, so we signed up!
We will be using 2-3 Pellet grills, and are expecting to be humbled, but are thrilled just to compete. Any tips or must have advice to use beginners?
