Participated in this rally today, and it's the first time I've ever done a march. Overall a wonderful experience. Really impressed by the turnout we had today.

Cheap indoor places to take my 13 year old for his birthday. I'm basically broke but I don't want him to spend his birthday at the shelter

It's on the 13th. I have a budget of about 100 bucks for a venue, food, and presents. He wants to invite a few friends and his siblings, and his mom and I. Additionally, any birthday wishes would be appreciated. He's extremely autistic and so he doesn't make friends easy. He loves Yu-Gi-Oh, playing his tuba, and kpop.

Found a male dog on Delta/Ember right at the bus stop.

I saw him laying on the snow right at the bus stop bench on Delta/Ember. I parked nearby and rolled my window down to see if he would approach. Skittish but vocal, barked at me but would back away. Eventually he walked off and j lost track of him.

Male. Looks like a senior dog. No collar. He may be currently wandering around southeast Colorado springs in the wood-streets neighborhood. He is black (salt and pepper) so please be careful if you're driving around this area!!

Unable to safely retrieve him. 😞

Care Bears

Hi beautiful Colorado Springs! I just moved here and I’m a care bear collector! I wanted to know if anyone had any old ones that they would like to give away or sell!

Anyone go to the home show this weekend? Seems like a third of the vendors are very aggressively trying to engage. If I’m not looking at you I don’t want to talk about your windows… not likely to go back next year.

Public House appreciation post

My husband and I have been going here for years now that we live near it (specifically their south location). It is a go-to spot for us biweekly. All the food is great, but their fried green tomatoes really take the cake. Just wanted to shout them out for being consistently amazing!!!

Best solar company here?

I’m looking to get a quote for solar panels for my roof and was thinking I like enphase for the micro inverters but that’s about all I know so far in my research. Who do you think is the best company in town in terms of customer service and warranty, etc?

Good avocados, where to find them?

Hey there COS friends - are you finding good, tasty avocados anywhere in town? Unfortunately we’re finding the stringy/hard as a rock varieties at Soops, Safeway, and Costco.

Thank you for ideas and have a great weekend.

I just sued the city!!!

Hi Everybody!

As you may have heard, I sued City Council for their efforts to overturn Q300. We talked about it on my podcast, Left Face. Listen here.

Reach out if you have questions or want to get involved. Making a stand at the local level is where we will see results.

Road Rage

This morning I was going the speed limit (35) down Dublin where it is one lane on each side. Near Nevada. The man behind me went absolutely BONKERS and was laying on the horn....I guess because I wasn't speeding enough for his liking? I slowed down so he could pass me (there is no passing lane there). He passed me and brake checked. Then he tried to block the turn lanes going southbound when we got to that area. Move away if you are so miserable!!

Does any card shop in town buy Magic The Gathering Cards?

Morning,

I am moving, and I have stacks on stacks of Magic: The Gathering Cards collected and boxed away that I need to get rid of. I am sure there are cards of value. I do not have the time or patience to sit and price each one online and send them away on websites, so I was hoping I could bring them all in somewhere and take what I am offered?

Thanks!

Thoughts on TogetherCOS

The benevolent sounding program is actually..a mass surveillance dragnet! How do we feel about reigisrering your camera so authorities can access the footage? ..to help solve crime -- only as necessary and requested of course! You want to help solve crime don't you!?

if you have no "feelings" about it...any input welcome. Is this even effective at reducing response time, crime stats, or resolves ...anything. Input from privacy or security hawks!? For the level of overreach and data at risk - the cons don't woutweigh the pros for me.

You are being watched, but only as needed. The distopian future is already here. For your safety, of course.

Let’s look on the bright side for the beginning of February…

The high temperature for the weather is going to be in the 50’s (Fahrenheit) and mostly sunny for the next five days, now those are the days we should go outside, exercise, get some vitamin D, and reduce social media time.

I’ll be good for us.

ETA: Ok it looks like i’ll be cloudy today but still warmer, Monday-Thursday will be sunnier.

COS plane spotters: FYI, incoming Antonov 124, *approx* noon Saturday. Highly recommend double checking ETA when it is nearer as it may change quite a bit in flight.

Best furniture store in springs?

Hi all! I'm considering getting a new living room suite (couch, ideally L shaped, possibly a lounge chair or chaise, coffee table, standing lamp). What furniture stores do you recommend? My important points are quality of furniture, longevity, price point, financing options, and delivery options! Let me know who I should take my business to!

Remember that time I was like, "hey we should do an art/craft event at a brewery or something"?

Hello Springsians,

Well I finally did it... so here is the plan:

6pm to 8:30pm (stay until they close if you want), 02/10/25 at Goat Patch Brewery.

Bring your crochet hooks, jewelry making stuff, knitting needles, model bulding kits, hand sewing kits, markers, Legos, books, D&D stuff, coloring books, vibes, or anything else crafty/artsy fartsy. We are here to make a little art/craft community, meet new people, and support one of the coolest businesses in town.

My only request is that you don't do anything messy, toxic (socially or chemically) or loud. Things like painting are okay as long as they are acrylics and you have something to place over the table.

I am going to try to tag everyone from the previous post who showed interest, but I am sorry in advance if I forgot to tag you.

See you all there!

No more Jenkins MS??

From the sound of it, Colorado Springs D11 should never have built a middle school where they did… geologists report is in. I feel sorry for all of those Jenkins families and staff who won’t get to return to a normal school even next year. And the administration at D11 is trying to say they aren’t allowed to choice out, which is against state law. What will they do with all of the staff next year? Is this why they didn’t renew the MA? So many questions…

Thoughts about best AFFORDABLE car wash in town?

The roads here finally killed my old car. 😞

So now I have a new car, but tye problem is an old dirty car looks normal, but on a new car its sad. Especially parked next to my neighbor's clean car.

So what's the best deal for a car wash in town? Maybe a membership?

Went from 240k miles to starting over again at 30k. Thanks for the insights
