'LPT' How should I make college friends who are interested in fitness/working out?

Hey guys, question for current college students or recently finished students who are interested in fitness and working out: did you struggle to connect with other fitness-interested students during your time on campus?

I, as a college student, feel that there are times when I see the same faces in the weight room but there isn’t a great way to connect for when we are out of the gym. I know people have fitness accounts on IG, but there isn’t a friendly way to connect that is based solely around fitness. What are ways you guys connect with other fitness-interested peers while on campus? Other than getting someone’s social media @ or snapchat – how do you keep in touch or follow each other’s fitness journeys? Do you ever feel like there is a need for a way to connect other than the typical apps such as IG, TikTok, or even the AppleWatch social features?

Any thoughts or opinions help - seriously!

college life

I'm a high school student from the UK, and I'm looking to apply to some US colleges to start in Autumn 25. I just wanted to know what college life is like. In particular, I'm going to apply to Columbia, New York University, Cornell, Brown, University of Rochester, but I'm interested in any comments on US college life.

Do you have lectures everyday? What is the campus housing like? How many and what kind of extracurriculars do you need to do to have a fairly good chance of getting into a good college? Are there many international students? Do you find it easy to make friends at uni? How many people share a room (on average) in typical uni accommodation? How long are your lectures? etc.

I'd really appreciate any info. Thanks!!

Looking to get back into school

I would like to start attending school in the future but would like to study and get tutored before hand to refresh myself after 15 years. Do you know of any good online bookstores for college level learning besides Amazon or what Google had to offer. Thank you

I have to drop all my courses from this semester, I’m going to be put on Financial Aid Suspension unless I have a valid appeal.

First, I wanna say if this is the wrong sub for this question or if anyone knows a subreddit more suited to answer my question please point me in that direction.

TLDR: Im paying for school with Federal Pell Grant, I have no choice but to drop all 3 of my courses this semester. By dropping all 3 courses I will be put on Financial Aid Suspension until it’s decided I’m committed to school. The only way to avoid Financial Aid Suspension is to file an appeal. My appeal will be denied unless I have a valid reason (w/documentation) to be dropping them. I don’t think depression counts as a valid reason and need advice on how to have my appeal accepted.

So to keep a long story as short as possible, I’ve messed up BAD this semester. I haven’t been in a good headspace for a few months now and have screwed myself academically this semester to the point of no return. Because of this, I have no other choice but to drop all 3 of my courses. If I do not drop them, my gpa will drastically drop… my gpa currently is a 3.7 but that 3.7 is based on the 3 courses I took last semester. I’m attending community college and hope to transfer to a uni in the near future so having my gpa drop that low is not an option. The big problem with this is that my school is getting paid for via Federal Pell Grant, by dropping all 3 of my courses I will be put on Financial Aid Suspension until it’s decided that I’m actually committed to school. My one and only hope to avoid academic suspension is to file an appeal against being put on Financial Aid Suspension. I spoke with the Financial Aid department at my cc today and they told me to file the appeal asap, but that the only way my appeal will be accepted is if I have a good, valid reason (with documentation to prove said reason) to be dropping all my courses. My problem is that I have a feeling that depression induced laziness/avoidance doesn’t count as a valid reason. I can’t pay for my classes and want to avoid putting myself in anymore debt until I transfer to a uni where I’ll really need to get loans.

So my question is, does anyone have any advice for what I can do to hopefully have my appeal accepted? Does anyone have experience filing a financial aid suspension appeal or any experience being in a situation like mine? ANY and ALL advice is appreciated and welcomed. I know this sounds like a “you dug your own grave” situation which to an extent it definitely is and I take full responsibility for that. I have genuinely had some specific circumstances recently that have contributed to me just completely avoiding my work. I have been avoiding life as whole recently not just school.

College crisis

Hello, I’m in a bit of a situation. I go to UMD and was playing on majoring in computer science, but my brother suggested me going the computer engineering route so I attempted. I failed the gateway class twice so i was planning to just to switch to computer science, but it looks like I failed the gateway class for computer science aswell the classes were calculus and this 100 level chemistry class. It’s not like the classes were extremely hard, but right now i’m at a point where I have lost all my work ethic and have not been able to get it back. this has been the case since covid so if anyone has some advice to help me gain that back that would be helpful. Yes, but I don’t really know what to do my counselor is saying i should major info science, but I googled the major and It looks kinda useless and thinking about maybe trying to transfer but idk.
