One if my friends found this bottle in the back of her parents freezer. Should she crack it open or smuggle it out and protect it? Look to be from the 1960s, but would love some more info.
Bought vsop in a supermarket,as I want to get into the fine exquisite spirit of cognac.
Is this a good introduction or not as all I see in my local shops are remy martin vsop, martel vs,courvoisier vs,hennessy vs.
I won't order online until I absolutely make sure I love this spirit but I've found a few good brands online for future reference and they are maxime trijol, frappin, jean fillioux, camus borderies.
The purpose of this question is did I make the right key choice for a first cognac?
Anybody tried mixing two different xo brands was curious
I feel this might be something to put away & forget about...Do please tell me what I have found. I believe it is from one of the Man's last batches before death.
However I really don't know my cognac...
TIA
I only got one reference on this. I want to auction it but cant really get any price on this
Should be 100 years old, but does anyone know why this cognac has no vintage? Does this happen more often with cognac? And what is the disadvantage of that for the value and quality of the cognac?
Love to know what it’s worth etc
Looking for recommendations for a mixing cognac to use in drinks like the Sidecar, Embassy, and Between The Sheets. I’m leaning toward Pierre Ferrand 1840, but that’s a choice driven by book reading. I’m wondering if this subreddit recommends any other choices in my California liquor stores.
UPDATE: Thank you to all for your thoughts. Starting with PF 1840, but I may try others when this is gone.
I finally decided to crack my bottle of 1995 Remy Martin VSOP last night and the cork broke. Waited til this morning to try to extract it, but it practically disintegrated into the bottle. So my empty bottle of 1792 to the rescue. Decanted through a filter and funnel.
Having never had cognac neat, I did enjoy the sweet and fruity taste. Much better neat than mixed with Coke as my dad used to drink and would give me a sip of.
I don't know anything about cognac. Does the same distillery make a fancier version? Or is there a well known fancy bottle I can get him? I want to get something a bit nicer as a special gift. Thanks.
Appears to be one of the big four, bottles are apparently dated 1958. Donated to my nonprofit but trying to figure out how to value or sell to support our 501c3. Assumed it was worth accepting, but is it worth something? Bottles appear intact but haven’t gotten up close yet.
