I'm just curious if it means anything to them, like a spiritual thing or something else. I've bought and sold cockatiels and they were always Filipinos buying or selling.
I'm a little annoyed because they completely ruined my biological clock with their shenanigans lol.
I'm looking for an illustrated picture of the Cockatiel's anatomy. Could anyone send me a picture?
Many thanks!
I have a cocktail named chip and he keeps screaming but his younger sippling doesn't do that and eats just fine but chip won't stop screaming and when I try to feed him it take a bit then he eats then when I leave he starts screaming again I really need help there parents we gave them away to a friend of ours please anyone help me with this situation
I just got a cockatiel and my fiancé is upset saying that I’m going to kill the bird because I stay up and play video games,I don’t yell but a laugh here and there and it’s just a normal talking voice. For example started a game at 12 and ended at about 2 (extra overtime’s) I wasn’t screaming or anything like that. Is it bad for the bird? (the bird has its own room which I share a wall with. And it’s cage is covered with no lights on, the bird goes to bed at 9:55)
How can i tame a pair of bonded cockatiel that can't be separated? The are scared of hands i got them nearly 3 weeks ago
This morning my cockatiel ate about a dozen cockatiel sips of corn chowder. Yesterday I made 2 quarts of soup with half a diced onion and half a teaspoon of garlic powder in it. The onions were sautéed first. I watched Poppy eating out of my bowl for a minute before I remembered about the onion and garlic. Its been 5 hours and so far he’s normal. Does anyone know how much is too much and what to expect? My bird vet is closed because its Saturday.
Guess what Shirley's favourite song to sing is 😊
My cockatiel doesn’t like being touched but I happy for me to be right up close to it, he love’s attention and squawks at me untill I go over to spend time with him!! I’ve not had him long. He wasn’t tame when I got him. He has recently started flying around the room as his cage is always open but is swooping towards mine and my partners heads. He hasn’t hurt me or anything, I’m just wondering if its aggressive? Were just sat still and I close my eyes so I don’t jump and scare him when he comes close!
Hi all, recently adopted 4 birbs - apparently all 4 ish years old (see previous posts) 3 are male and do exhibit male behaviour but none of them sing or whistle or anything... Just the usual bird chirping Any ideas how I can teach them at an older age? I've established they don't like hands but are quite happy to roam around the house all day and play with their toys
Hi everybody,
i (19) bought two female cockatiels around 6/7 months ago thinking there would be way less chance they would get territorial towards eachother. I bought them a proper cage and all the toys and food and vitamins they'd need. I listened to multiple peoples advice before i went and bought the tiels.
However, i think one of them did end up very territorial and started hurting the other. A lot of featherloss but i couldnt pinpoint from which one it came from and i didnt know if it was some seasonal feather loss or if they were stressed etc. I admit i should have gone to a vet and i cannot make up any excuses for not going other than it was winter and i have no access to a car -- the vet is pretty far away.
Couple months pass and my birdie hurts herself when she tries to fly but hits her head, falls and bruises her leg. I go to the vet and they point out theres a problem with the birds feathers as well --and that its probably another bird causing it because she wouldnt be able to damage the feathers on top of her head. I finally find out that one of my birds has been bullying the other and as a solution i now put them in two different cages.
Though this does not restore the damage already made. Me and the bullied bird got very close and i now can pretty much peek under her wings, and what i saw shovked and embarrassed me so much that even right now i am on a throwaway account. shes basically featherless underneath her wings and the bottoms of her wings have been damaged as well, wounded as theres obviously been blood.
She is pretty much tame now. Even as i'm typing this shes sitting on top of my typing hand and playing around with my bracelet. I think mentally she isnt doing that bad although who am i to know.
I wanted to ask you guys what i could use to help her regain her feathers? If theres things i should watch out for or do to help her? I'm scared she might get depressed because of the featherloss.
I'll show a picture below. I'm not sure if i can spoiler the picture but i'll spoiler the post. i'm sorry if i cause you any bad feelings.
