Hey,
I am interested in trying the swinging movement of Persian meels/clubs. I am in a commercial gym and can’t think of a way to substitute for the club that has the weight at only one end. Would a single plate, kettlebell or dumbbell do an okay job replicating? Anyone with knowledge please let me know
Not talking about isolation, but rather about common compound movements. I'm curious how one would go about programming strength training in a similar way to how, let's say, callisthenics athletes do it (see e.g. Recommended Routine on /r/bodyweightfitness).
Disregarding core, which can be relatively easily worked without any equipment, and vertical pull, where it's pretty much impossible to beat the pull-up, I am curious which exercises could be used to work:
Of course you can always use the clubs are kinda crappy dumbbells, but I am curious what are your go-to exercises that work those patterns, and those muscles, using strong suits of the clubs, like working with leverage and inertia.
Looking forward to your input!
Was messing around and came up with these.
I like doing tactical cleans and snatches (😱) with kettlebells too break up the monotony, and do a lot of hand switching with mace flow too.
Now to add a second hand switch after the mill!
Has anyone ever bought and worked through the club programs? I’m interested, but those price tags are steep.
I've come across a lot of rope flow stuff on YT recently, looks interesting. Does anyone here practice this? What if anything do you feel it adds is you already exercise with clubs and maces?
The title says it all but my Adex club is stuck. I’ve tried tapping it on the floor (both sides of the club), just dropping it from 8-10 inches up, multiple hand grips…nothing. Anyone have any tips to loosen it up so I can add some weight?
Mixture of barbarian press, pressouts & flag squats with double 20lbs(10kgs)
Cheers🤘
Hey guys first time posting here but have been around a bit but couldn't find too much info on the subject. I am curious about handle thickness, is the Wildman too big? So as the title states this will be my first club purchase and I am curious what people who have used both handle sizes or something similar might have to say about them. I do not have small hands although they are not large either. I do use a 35mm Comp Kettlebell but I am still a novice as far as I think.
Starting to move into heavier weights with some pendulums at the beach.
So I've been clubbing hard the last few months - been training with maces for a few years but only recently added a club to my gym.
I've really working on upping the weight (with good form, obvs), and seeing good progress.
And I've developed sore thumbs, which is a new one on me. Feels self-evidently related to gripping the club, and I've been doing endurance mills, so not entirely surprised.
Anyone else bumped into this? Any advice other than deload/rest?
Bought an Adex in September, and almost precisely 4 months later, decided that 25lbs wasn't quite enough weight to be swinging around.
Have gotten it up to 35lbs for 2H shield casts and they're doable.
Just getting into clubs now and wanting to know, how many reps/sets to do for inside/outside circle and shield cast for a beginner?
Also, for single arm shield cast can you do it both directions? Clockwise/anticlockwise.
Thank you
Hey all,
I'm looking to get an adjustable club because I figure in the long run it makes sense and I have some old barbells I'm going to sell off to help pay towards it.
Anyone here use a Cadi club and have any feedback to provide? It's a steep purchase, especially being in Canada, but I don't mind if it is worthwhile.
Was curious if anyone had any other adjustable clubs that I could look at?
Thanks in advance!
Hello everyone! I’ve been training with clubs for well over 6 months now, but my workouts have been mainly full body - calistenics, bells, clubs and sandbags. Recently I thought about experimenting with my training splits and decided to try ppl. The question is - to which of the following days would be a good idea to add the clubs?
Happy to join this community. Wish everyone an awesome 2025!
So i caught this on a Mark Wildman video where he mentions, almost as an aside, doing 100 one-handed circle-mills within 7:30, as a way of gating whether you're ready for the next heavier weight.
I'm fairly new to clubs, and with an Adex, I'm working my way through the weights, only moving up once i can get those 100 mills in under the time. Just hit 15lbs tonight for the first time, so onward to 16.25!
I have Scott Sonnon's King of Clubs, which is a two hand program. I have some of his older books and a DVD set he put out years ago. I have 2 15lb clubs but have trouble playing them with my current household technology.
I mostly use KBs with clubs as an adjunct. I mostly use Geoff Neupert's programs.
I want to work in more club work, especially single arm work, or double clubs. Want to get adjustable clubs in the future. My shoulder could use some flexibility and decompression work, plus rotational work is usually better with clubs.
For now, what is best free resource for single club movements and programs for now before I sink more money into programs? I am aware of Scott Sonnon and Mark Wildman and would consider one of their paid programs at some point. Scott Sonnon is excellent bmm. He is the OG of clubbells as well as a reknowned martial artist. Mark Wildman is also great. I think Scott is better priced for programs. However Mark looks like he has more long term material and progressions as well as uses adjustable Adex clubs..
Thoughts?
Hey so I'm getting back into clubs. Been about 5-7 years since I've last done anything with mine.
Finding that I've sold/gave away many and now I have mismatched sets.
I have pair of 5lb, single 10lb, pair of 20b clubbels from RMax Sonnon guy or whatever the original clubbell brand was called about 15-17 years ago.
15kg (33lb) metal prototype club (thick, thick grip) from Agatsu, Canadian kettlebell company. And another RMax 45lb single club.
I'm thinking of getting a matching pair for the 10lb and something in-between like a 15lb pair for progression.
My big concern is consistently and properly matched/balanced clubs.
Wondering if anyone knows any 10lb club brands that would paid with the old 10lb one I got or is it just better to get two new ones?
Also will it matter if I switch up club handle thickness/shape for the 15lbs compared to 10s and 20s I already got?
Has anybody purchased the Wilmdman single arm club program? What is your experience? Thinking about purchasing it but it is a hefty 300 bucks. Is it much than his YouTube since he explains it so well on his YT? Thinking about doing some sort of well structured program like his but also thinking about just doing the progress towards a mill like he shows in his YT videos.
Alternating single arm clubbell front swing to shield cast? I don’t know but it’s pretty fun haha.
I've been using steel maces for the past few years, from 5, 8 & 10 kilos. I've been thinking about getting some clubs. Just curious about what weight to start with? I initially bought a 10k mace and it was way too heavy for me - I use it almost daily now, but I don't want to make the same mistake and buy something too heavy. Any suggestions about which weight to start with would be appreciated. Thanks in advance
Found a adjustable clubbell in UK. From omnibell recently just released. Sold out quite quickly, has anyone got one.
Looking forward to restocking of clubbell, 5-20kilo adjustability so plenty to play with.
Would love to hear a review if someone had one. Looks like adex to a degree.
Hey everyone. After some extended research, I think I need to start doing clubbell work to get my shoulder flexibility under control. I am 51 now and have been working out since I the ago of 16, plus I played American Football for about 13 years back in Germany. Bad workout form and heavy impact playing football left some marks and there are a lot of things I just have a tough time doing due to shoulder pain/flexibility. I am 5 feet 9 and looking to incorporate clubbells to my workout routine. Not sure if I want to dish out the money to get some Tacfit clubs or start with some cheaper, but shorter version clubbells. I think I want to get a pair of 10lb and 15lb clubs. There are clubbed on sake from Proiron on Amazon, which look like a good starting point. Any input is appreciated.
Hi everyone, I am anxious to snatch a new club now that some are on black Friday week deals.
I have a 4 , an 8, (steel clubs) and a 10 k MACE (bad company). I am pretty agile with the 8k, doing one handed mills, pendulums etc... for time.
Can't splurge on an adjustable, but I want a heavy club bell (metal, does not have to be rubber coated) , for very challenging 2 handed work. I am tempted to go to 20kg, but is perhaps 15-16kg more suitable?
