How did I do fellas. Has anyone smoked any of these?
I picked one up at a local smoke shop yesterday for about 4+ tax turned out to be a really great smoke for the price so I went back an got 2 more today. I googled them can't seem to find anything about who makes them. The label says Habanos Del Campo and it's a Toro Maduro. Anyone know who makes them?
Sup! Bought some of that beauties some months ago and stored them in my Humi since then, and I want to finally try one of those giants. So I wanted to ask what drink would suit to them since I’m sober
Monto crisco platinum series
What’s some cigar brands you just can’t win with? I’ve found there’s a few brands that no matter how many times I try it or explore their collections I just can’t seem to enjoy one of their smokes.
For me it’s Perdomo and Oliva.
Oliva V - Excellent , went through a few in no time. Out of the bunch, this is the one I’d recommend to someone I don’t know.
Cavalier Geneve Black II - This is my personal favorite brand. Overall the Lanceros are my favorites in terms of format, however the construction is simply not great. Draw quality is a Russian roulette on each stick. These need a fairly dry storage imo. The Toros burn and draw great.
E. P. Carillo Encore - Went through 4 of these in relatively short time. Good taste, but I think these really benefit from some resting time. I bought an obscenely priced aged Majestic a while back and it was incredible.
Cohiba Siglo VI - Gift from a friend. Would be my first. Might smoke it or pass it on to someone else.
AJ Fernandez Bellas Artes - Bought on a whim. Love a Lancero and had one yesterday. Very strong and dark cigar that should probably rest a bit and be kept for smoking after a meal.
Great Uncle In-law gave me my first cigar on Thanksgiving:
A. Fuentes Connecticut. Fell in love immediately.
Picked up a New World (haven't tried yet), an A. Fuentes Gran Reserva (wasn't a big fan) and this, which I'm loving.
Any other recs for a newbie?
Dropped in to the local pub because a buddy of mine works Karaoke here. I've not been in this place very much since I quit drinkin' years ago. Now. I'm in here sober as a judge and trying to bring a little class to the ol' dive. It's not my preferred establishment, but it's a place I can smoke my Julius Caesar indoors without the wind and 50° F weather.
Anyone have suggestions or recs for alternatives to the liga privada line that has a similar profile ? Love these cigars and trying to experiment with some similar ones. Thanks in advance, appreciate it!
Just curious, is Mikes Cigars reputable online?
Guys I have a cigar page coupon I'm not going to use. One shot deal. $30 off of $150. It expires at midnight tonight. First one to use it, gets it. Enjoy!
use COUPON CODE: DR3-NCHK-SVIQ at checkout).
Photo from Ghostbusters 2. A few scenes with him smoking cigars.
Any recommendations for a torch lighter, all mine burn thru the butane quick!
4 Tupperdors. Living in a hot, humid climate and my calibrated hygrometers in the Tupperdors have been at an average of 79f for the past few years (calibrated every 6 months with new boveda calibration packs).
Each Tupperdor contains 4x medium size 62% boveda packs, and are reading 69%/70% average on the hygrometers, due to the high temperature which impacts RH.
Should I lower to 58% bovedas to bring the humidity to say 65%?
No mould (that I have seen), no beetles, but would rather make the right decision now rather than regret later.
I’ve started my cigar journey a couple of months ago and I’m so lost between the arturo fuente lines. They’re so much even without considering the maduro and sg versions Can anybody walk me through their lines? Thank you
Hello There, I recently opened a business with all tobacco product and I made a room about 10x15 ft and 8 ft high into cigar humidor. I sealed the walls and ceiling air vent properly to avoid any HVAC airs going in as i was afraid it will affect the humidity. Correctly there is Humidifier that is not evaporative meaning water is not heated into steam, instead it use high absorbing filters that absorbs water and fans dries off those filters and continuous mode. I have seen Humidity go up as high as 85 and If i turn off the machine, it would go as low as 62 after 24 hr its off. I try to maintain about 70 but unfortunately, my humidifier only let me set up to 60, after that i can keep machine ON constantly which will make humidity go high in 80s in few hours and if i lower it 60 then it will definitely not let it go below 60. So now the question is what about temp. Since one wall of humidor is attached to outside wall (well insulated) but im afraid it gets cold easily in 60s. should i add small heater to raise temperature and keep humidity up? Im trying to decrease the burden on humidifier if i keep it on.
Hasn’t been Ashed yet and man does it want to hang on
Is there a specific weathering tape to make it airtight or any other hacks that will help stabilize the temperature inside?
Got this stick and was so excited to try it based on everything I read….Lit it up tonight and I’m just not really into it. First Cameroon wrapper, so maybe that’s it (usually prefer maduro).
Am I on an island with this opinion?
I've only smoked 3 cigars, so I'm definitely not ready for anything stronger quite yet, but how many should I have before branching into something stronger?
Enjoying cigars in the back uncovered garden. I used to use a buddy propane heater but would like to switch to electric. Anyone have any personal recommendations? Usually stays above 40 degrees… maybe 35. So not super cold.
Hello, I'm looking to try a Brazilian brand of cigars called Dannemann, but I'm having a bit of trouble finding somewhere that actually carries them. They use all Brazilian tobaccos in their cigars, and seeing as I love Mata Fina and other Brazilian tobaccos, this would be a perfect line for me to try. It seems like the few sites that had carried them at one point are all sold out or only carried their machine made cigarillos.
If anyone has any pointers, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
It seemed like a slow holiday deal season and then picked up in the last 2 days.
What have been your best pickups?
This post is going to be specific to the Oliva Serie O, but applicable to all their blends and indeed to cigars in general.
Some background. I’ve been an avid smoker for 25+ years. Over the course I’ve found my likes and more or less settled into smoking those. This past summer I gave up drinking and started smoking daily (replacing my nightly night cap). In doing so I’ve re explored the world in depth, and Oliva really captured me.
Here’s where my challenge arose. I like learning as much as I can about what I consume, and also love making that into simple and digestible. I tackled mapping out and learning what makes their cigars each unique, particularly important given their very generic naming.
I seemed to pretty quickly capture the breakdown as such:
Connecticut - the only self explanatory one built into the name. Connecticut Shade from Ecuador. Common and ubiquitous.
Serie G - Cameroon Serie G Maduro - Broadleaf
Serie O - Habano (Nicaraguan Puro) Serie O Maduro - Broadleaf
Serie V - Sun Grown Habano Serie V Maduro - San Andres
Serie V Melanio - Sumatra Serie V Melanio Maduro - San Andres
I’ll leave the Master Blend and other additions out of the conversation to just focus on these core lines.
This all made pretty clear sense to me…until, I smoked an O, loved it, and wanted to learn more. In doing that I checked out Oliva’s site directly and was very surprised. They clearly state the wrapper is both Ecuadorian and Sun Grown. Every other source online highlights that this is a Nicaraguan Puro with a standard Habano wrapper. Further reading on their site also shows the Maduros as all San Andres, except the O being Broadleaf.
Obviously their site should be the most important source and the final say, so my assumption is that’s the actual truth. But given that, how does every other site and source get this wrong and why is this very basic and crucial information about the cigars we smoke so maligned? Did Oliva just go ahead and change the blend(s)? If so why isn’t that more widely updated and talked about?
Does anyone here have sources they trust to regularly get this information? Is there currently a single source of clear and easy to find information on the actual blends and tobacco types in our cigars?
Some of the brand websites are great with this. Drew Estate is very explicit, CAO does a nice job for a large company. But by and large I just can’t find a great source that captures this broadly or that even seems to care about getting as explicit as possible for all the blends that are not proprietary and secret, which seems rare.
Edit: Typo from V to O
