I'm trying to create a sytle of music that mimics the MSM5232 chip, but there's one problem: how do I stack the square waves to create that organ-like sound? What notes should I be harmonizing and how many notes should I stack? Any visuals would be nice
Huge major update game, gameplay and gfx. Massively more action and fun, more enemies, more power-ups, better enemies, better main menu.

Im trying to download Magical 8bit Plug 2 from its site, but the download option is missing. Does anybody have a solution, or a google drive link?
So, I decided to download OpenMPT Tracker as a way to import a Midi of Green Hill Zone into Furnace Tracker, mostly as a test and also to be able to modify Green Hill Zone because apparently Sega Genesis VGM Files can be exported from Furnace Tracker but not Imported and also the complete transcription of Green Hill Zone would be impossible as I can't find a good way to extract the PCM Drum Samples from the VGM Files. When I imported the OpenMPT File into it, the files' channels were labelled "Channel 1", "Channel 2", etc. Is it possible, with the current capabilities of Furnace Tracker to change a Channel from one Type of Channel to another type.
And also, I noticed that the Virtual Boy featured 5 Wavetable Channels. I really want to work with the instruments from Virtual Boy Games, but, when I went to my standard source for Video Game Music Files, Zophar's Domain, I can't find the Music Files for Virtual Boy Games. I'm wondering, is there a place where one can download the music of Virtual Boy Music, or is there even a way to rip music from Virtual Boy Games? I look up and the only thing that some people say is basically "Record from an Emulator", which, for some of the more complicated songs from Virtual Boy Games, transcribe it and getting the Waveforms from those games would be a bit of a headache. How does one do that?
Hello everyone, I'm Pixelh8 (Yes I know my name is GuavaOK9656, I didn't know what I was doing when I signed up to reddit)
I just wanted to introduce myself and say thank you to anyone who has ever mentioned my music or software on here. I have been away from music for 12 years building a technology school for young people in England.
I have released a new album "Hard Reset" in March and it was nominated for the UK Mercury Prize, you can listen to it here if you like.

also most of my software I use is free to download and share from here, there will be more added when I find it.

I am currently working on my new album due out in March 2025 called "October 26th, 1985" about my childhood in the 80's
I am on pretty much every social platforms and if you have any questions just ask.

So, I'm currently messing around with Furnace Tracker and am trying to figure out how to get Game Boy Waveforms in a Format which can work in Furnace Tracker? Mostly, it's because I tried to download Tracker Boy but it kept failing because a series of programs weren't resolving properly. Is there some way to extract the Wavetable Stuff from GBS to use in Furnace Tracker?
I just did a Genesis (YM2612 + sega PSG) rendition of the ending theme "you're my hero" from the Saturn version of Sonic 3D in Furnace tracker . I made each instrument from the operators as I found them fitting the sound I wanted to achieve. The drums are Sonic 3 samples though. 🙂 Hope you like it!
I feel like I'm struggling with this and I shouldn't be. Anyone have more on creating percussion in Furnace. I figured out how to make notes percussive but I'm sure how to make plain percussion. I've noticed as well that the noise channels in each chipset sound different. Anyone else having a hard time with it? Everyone else got this figured out? If so can you show and/or explain?
Thank you ahead of time,
I wanted to make this again since I felt like something in the original didn't feel right. Especially the square that suddenly pop in and the fact the I didn't utilize half of my channels 20% of the time so it felt a bit empty on the inside.
I was mostly inspired by the DS Castlevania games since I was playing through the Dominus collection at the time, and little bit of Thunder Force IV and Gunblade NY as well
Also at one point I tried to make the lead sound like the one used in "Flash Train" from Street Fighter EX2 Plus but I couldn't get it right. So I used the one that I've always been using instead.
this was made in the Furnace Tracker btw (had to repost and rewrite all of this cuz i accidentally made the thumbnail a youtube video and i couldn't remove it)
I'm in the process of composing songs for one of my new music projects and before I get my hands dirty with making some bleep bloops, I wanted to figure out which program would be better for performing live, alongside me playing guitar. I know that with FamiTracker you can export NSF files that can play on my NES' native hardware using a flashcart, but can you do the same with FamiStudio??
I know that with a Tracker you can look at the song as it plays in real time, which would give me an advantage for keeping time, but I'm also not sure if that's something FamiStudio can do as well. :P
Also, bonus question, I know that back in the day people like Anamanaguchi used PowerPaks by RetroZone for NES rom carts, but the fact that it uses only Compact Flash cards is a major turn off. Is there another cartridge on the market that does the same thing as those cartridges, but with SD?
