A subreddit devoted to the Chicago music scene
Post anything related to the Chicago music scene here - bands to look out for, great shows, events, et al. If it's local, please describe it in the title. Otherwise the automoderator might flag and bounce it.
Keep any discussions about bands to local bands, or bands coming here to play
For bands, this can be a place to network
For fans, this is a great place to support the bands
For venues, agents, managers, producers, service providers, et al, you're welcome to reach out and post, but please don't get spammy.
If you post a band, link to their website or something so we can listen (linktree, spotify, youtube, etc). If you neglect sharing something to listen/see, you may be marked as spam. Failure to respond to inquiries could get you banned.
Great resource for live shows happening in Chicago (no affiliation):
This subreddit is a place for civil conversations, sparking interest in the music scene, and keeping people up to date on places to play, people to play with, and sharing your music. We are not a place for drama. We do not want to be arbiters of that. If you bring drama here, you will be warned, and then banned.
If you have other resources you'd like to share, please DM the mods. /u/workerbeeNumber3 or /u/DriveByPianist are the only active members RN, but we're doing our best to pick up the slack!
Rock over London! Rock on Chicago!

Hey! My name is JC, and I’m one-half of Serenity Circle, a Nirvana/Beatle inspired rock band currently based out of Rockford, Illinois area. Unfortunately, we have recently parted ways from our lead guitarist (nothing bad happened, just life circumstances) and we’re currently looking for someone to fill his place. Our goal currently is to put out some music we’ve been writing, and I would be able to send some samples of what we got upon request.
We already have voice and rhythm covered by our other member, and while i’ve been rocking bass, I could switch over to lead depending on who would like to join. We currently have a drummer who can cover for us if we can’t find one, but don’t be afraid to audition on drums if you’d like! Our current ages are 19 and 24, but any age is free to try!
Just to be upfront, this is probably heading to be a one and done with our album we have going. Life circumstances we can talk about has came up, but if you’d like to help us get to the finish line and put something to your name, feel free to DM me!
We meet every Saturday at three, but we can probably get some other time going if needed. If you’re in the Chicago Suburb area I might be able to give you a ride.
Thank you for reading all this!
Hey folks, been playing around Chicago for a few years now and excited to share with your our new EP ‘County Fair’. If you’re free, we will be playing a show tonight at Cole’s Bar to celebrate the release. Hope to see ya there!
I’m a 24 year old bassist (also play guitar and synthesizers) and songwriter, but simply prefer female vocals over my own. I find that I’m better at arranging instrumentals than writing lyrics. I’m a huge fan of classic indie pop, alternative, and post punk bands (black tambourine, tiger trap, young marble giants, au pairs, heavenly, plumtree…). I am very busy next month, but please send me demos if you are interested in writing and recording this type of music. If you play guitar or keyboards that is great.
In the area and want to check out some moody, heavy music? Come out to see Jealous Lot, Fujiko, Top Deck, and Pretty Crooked! Both Jealous Lot and Fujiko are coming up from the Peoria area to play, so this is a great opportunity to see some rad bands from the Central IL scene!
Howdy,
If you're interested in a jam band type project, our band looking to reform with a new name and direction after the departure of one of our guitarists.
We were jamming with a keys player who couldn't commit, and really liked the direction. Planning to demo the song we started writing ASAP and can send your way if you'd like to get together to see if the chemistry is there.

Chicago Scene Collab
I’m a venue owner in Urbana Illinois and I’d love to try and collage with a Chicago venue and do a venue X venue with some of our local bands, I would put together and make sure we get there I just need some help promoting and a space to do it.
Any DIY scene suggestions?
Hi! I'm a 40 year old dad in the northern suburbs looking to take out my angst against our dumb and/or feckless and lying political leaders (on both sides) using the amcient art of punk rock. I "sing" and am pretty out of tune, but it's punk rock so who cares? Anyone down to join the cause? Looking for a full backing band.
Upcoming rapper from Michigan looking for a cool videographer in Chicago to shoot some scenes and Vlogs if you wanna check some of my workout, look at the links below thank you
Hey all! My band Deadbeat Daycare is having a show at the Burlington on April 7th! We play indie alternative originals. If you’re interested in being on the bill dm me!
If you like indie music and enjoy a more chill dive bar scene, I'm DJing an indie night at The Native this Friday. I play a pretty wide range of stuff: LCD Soundsystem, Charli xcx, Empire of the Sun, The Dare, Prince, Hot Chip, Jessie Ware, New Order, etc.
Here's an excerpt from a recent mix to give a sense of the style.
Yo! Where are the other dream pop bands in Chicago?
As we're getting more shows lined up for the spring and summer we're looking to put together a lineup of more bands where we all really compliment each other's sound so that when we reach out to venues we can have some solid go-to's to jump on a bill together.
We're Street Dove 👋 and we make dreamy, indie, synthy, melodic dream pop.
Been playing in the city for a couple years.

Now booking at competitive rates! Chicagoland recording studio. Come in for a tour and a test of the gear! Looking to connect with new bands!
I have two balcony tix to Guster at the Riv on Friday 12/31 that I can no longer go to. Originally 100/each. I'd rather not just eat them, but will definitely offer a healthy discount for anyone interested.
I see folks asking about open jam sessions here a lot, and I just wanted to throw it out there that the Lemon has open jam sessions hosted by a local band every first Tuesday of the month. I’ve played the Lemon and can attest that the owner is awesome, and that for as expensive/ fancy as the cocktails are, they also have dirt cheap beer.
I moved to chicago a couple weeks ago on a short notice, my partner got a job offer and we jumped ship within a couple of weeks. We are settled in now and I would love to get around and meet and play with other musicians. I am a percussionist/drumset player, and unfortunately due to time constraints and the apartment we were approved for within our short window, I was not able to bring my kit or cymbals. all i got right now is my stick bag and practice pads haha. But still - any places/venues/people I could hang around to meet and play? lmk!
Shot three songs of this band in Bookclub earlier in the month and of the three songs I filmed, this is my favorite video.
From the lighting, to the stage, to the board audio…if you like to make videos with bands, this is the spot to be man.
Hi! I'm looking to see if anyone has any recommendations on Chicago artists playing original country!
I'm a Minneapolis based musician who is in the process of planning a couple weekend mini tours across the upper Midwest and want to hit Chicago. My music (Chief Opossum, spotify linked) is a mix of neotraditional country, alt rock, and hard rock. I'd love to perform with any local artist, but figured starting with those similar to me would be the best place to start.
Thanks in advance!
