I was mystified as to why there wasn't a Chicago House subreddit already.
Feel free to post your own mixes/productions as well; just make sure what your craft is Chicago House.

"When my underground sound became overground around 1995, all the trappings and pressures of dealing with worldwide attention threatened to stall the innovation & excitement of club music, my music.
Instead of giving the $ more attention than the music I decided to 'hold on to the spirit of discovery..."

Fenster's Funky Sevens- Ep 28 - A History of House Music
Covering the time period between two UK pop chart entries; George McCrae's number one "Rock Your Baby" in June 1974, and Farley 'Jackmaster' Funk "Love Can't Turn Around" in August 1986; the first Disco hit and the first House Music hit.
I look at how Disco developed over the 70s until its "death" in 1979. Then how, with Funk and Post-Disco and European influences, Disco was reborn on the dancefloors of Chicago as House Music.
We also take in the stories of the first House Music records and young ambitious (and sometimes unscrupulous) characters involved in their creation.
Hey everyone! I DJ for and help run an event series called Occasion that's meant to promote local DJs and bring house/dance music culture to many audiences. We have a House music show at Subterranean in Wicker Park this Saturday from 10PM-2AM. We'll have 3 other great local DJs spinning. It'd be great to see some new faces and make new friends!
A long shot I know. But i adore the mix tapes larry used to do. One of my favourites had this track on it.
Rasmus - ever after ( the sumo bounce mix)
I believe it was the second track on the mix.
Would love to hear the whole mix again. God, I miss the old deephousepage
This is an incredible track
The story is very vague, Jamie Principle wrote the song (like the vocal melody and words) and it was brought on a tape to Frankie Knuckles who played it at the Powerplant when the back track was "not much more than a snare" Frankie edited the lyrics to something more usable, then Mark "hot rod" Trollan (who passed away in 1986) added the synth line and the bass, then Jamie released it, Then Frankie released it.
I tell you, I can take or leave the vocal on this. So is it really down to Mark Trollan that this track is as incredible as it?
I'm confused

Hey everyone👋, I'm currently working on my master’s thesis, and I'm looking for people who love festivals to share their thoughts in a quick online survey. The survey focuses on exploring new ticket options for dance festivals, and I’d love to hear from those with experience attending festivals or who are interested in the scene!
It only takes a few minutes, and your responses will be a huge help in making my research as relevant and insightful as possible.
Thanks so much in advance for your time! Here’s the link to the survey: https://forms.gle/Be9BiAnVYg5tGcN16
House Music, where it all probably began: Italy.
With the Track: Klein & MBO - Dirty Talk (1982) Zanza Records.
Lewelsch Remix 2024
Any good shows coming up in the next few months. I love hard hitting danceable beats with more of a mixed age group (not just all 20 year olds). Had a blast a Chromeo recently.
I believe this subreddit could and should be handled by someone who has more passion for it.
I initially r/redditrequest 'd this sub, because it was set to Restricted, and nobody could post.
If there is anyone that would like to take over, let me know in the comments.

Hello everyone, Are there any house events this Saturday, September 21st? I have a friend coming in town & it’s their birthday. They love house music & I want to find a live show to bring them to! Please help!!!
Hey guys, after getting my associates degree in chemistry and then not being able to continue for my bachelors due to financial issues, I am dedicating all of my time towards my hobby making visuals for music and would really like to get some experience using resolume and other programs in live settings. I have mostly done things in blender and with fractal generators, I am making my own handmade collection of clips to loop together in resolume. I have already made a few visuals that I posted on YouTube, hoping to make some connections here to potentially get some live experience. Thanks.
I went to Arc festival this year and it was my first time in Chicago. Besides seeing many legends at the festival, along with many other artists from around the world, the city of Chicago blew me away. You can go to a club and find some of the best djs I've heard. You can really catch the Detroit and Chicago influence out there. This really resonated with me since these are the styles of dance music I like to play, along with New Jersey and New York influenced tracks.
I'm having a really hard time coming back to my hometown (Winnipeg), because the scene is not very inspiring. Does anyone find it hard to relate to the music in their city? Anyone here go to Chicago, and never want to come back? I actually feel like I belong there as a dj and musician. It seems like a great place to hone your skills and draw inspiration.
Hi everyone! I’m a student trying to complete my dissertation about the emergence of electronic music as a new genre, a topic that is very important to me. I’m looking for people (ravers, DJs, producers, promoters) who would like to share their experiences or thoughts about the scene and thought about asking in this community if someone might be willing to talk with me. Thank you 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
