I want to try being a drag king . I’ve wanted to for a while and I’m gonna go for it. Trouble is I don’t know how to get into it in the first place, help?
So my husband and I are relatively new to Chicago... but we suck at meeting people.
Is there anywhere to go with a laid back atmosphere where we can just meet other coupled gay guys?
It seems everywhere is a fast-paced club or something, but I just want something lowkey and relaxing.
Any good queer bars/clubs in the area showing the dem debate?
Hello ChiLGBT! I know this sub isn’t super active, but I wonder if anyone else has heard or noticed that a lot of LGBTQ couples and families seem to be migrating to Portage Park. We did, from Andersonville, and our block alone has quite a few LGBTQ households. We are happily surprised!
Saturday, July 13th @ 1:30pm, First Unitarian Church of Chicago (56th/Woodlawn in Hyde Park)
About the film:
A Womb of Their Own introduces a charismatic, funny, thoughtful group of masculine-of-center people who experience pregnancy. Each individual and couple navigates gender expectations, even from the LGBT community, that don’t fit their experience of themselves. Follow their stories as they establish and celebrate their own unique gender, develop their definition of family, grow a baby in their bodies, and birth, chest feed and parent their children.
Join us for the film and talk back! Welcoming the film's Director (via Skype), several of the film's protagonists and a local doula! Tickets available at http://awomboftheirown.eventbrite.com
Older women bringing 15yo son to first pride, neither of us are familiar with Chicago at all. We can walk but not miles and miles. We'll have a car but would like to use as much public transportation as possible. We have an airbnb in Willow Springs - I can't figure out if it's going to take hours or minutes to get to the show Sat night and parade next day. Also needing advice on where we can watch the parade and have a spot to sit down every once in a while, if at all possible.
Totally lost, would be incredibly grateful for tips on making it there on time, not getting lost, avoiding unexpected big expenses.
Thank you!

I would love to attend a pride party (along the parade route) on parade day in Chicago. My girlfriend (21f) and I (23f) have been together for 4 years and this will be our first pride where she’s “legal” to party. I’d be happy to bring party supplies and or pay a “party fee” for a safe, good time for a few hours. If anybody knows of, or is hosting a safe get together and wouldn’t mind a couple more gay guests let me know! We both have work Monday so we’re not looking to get too rowdy, just have a good time. Sorry if this sounds a bit crazy but hey it’s June anything is possible!
I want to go to a club/rave in Chicago that still plays house/techno type music (80s-90s), and not modern EDM, Dubstep, Pop, or Rap.
Is there anywhere to go? LGBT friendly preferred.
Three estranged women come together to save their best friend’s funeral. March 20-23rd at 8pm. Prop Thtr, Chicago.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
When Ella dies unexpectedly, her currently estranged, life long friends are left aghast by the wake her family has arranged for her. Determined to honor their best friend, the three women concoct a (slightly questionable, definitely controversial) scheme to lay Ella to rest in the way that she would have wanted. At their makeshift wake, Maya, Carp, and B celebrate Ella’s life while also confronting the hurt that has pushed them apart over the past year.
An exploration of ego, loyalty, and love, For the Record drags the audience into the inevitable knots of a true lifelong bond, while celebrating the blurred line between friendship and sisterhood.
For the Record
Directed by Bethany Hart
A Play by MaryClare Zimmermann
Story by MaryClare Zimmermann and Amy Heller
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Headed by an all-woman production team and cast and starring multiple queer actors, For the Record is an original stage play by queer playwright MaryClare Zimmermann. While the show is a dark comedy in which all main characters are queer women, it purposefully does not center around romantic love or sexuality.
Hey Chicago,
34 year old guy living on the Northside here. I've only recently come to terms with being gay so don't have many friends in the community to relate to. I'm into sports and was wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction to find a gay sports league nearby. Maybe a team run out of and/or sponsored by a bar? Definitely interested in the social aspect of being on a team just as much as the sport itself. I've been playing softball forever but open to all suggestions. I am aware of the rugby clubs and like the sport, but I'm a bit too old to get into that now unfortunately, haha.
Thanks for your time and Cheers!

Hey chiLGBT!
I'm booking for an event on Oct 27th in Louisville, KY and I'm on the hunt for some regional LGBT talent. Right now we're exploring mostly rap and electronic acts. I'm aware of KC Ortiz, but would love to discover more talent from this community!
Would love any recommendations so I can reach out.
If you are trans and want to meet/date other trans people, where in the city or online do you go to meet people?
Hey
This is definitely a long shot but I was wondering if anyone knew a way to make money through PayPal by any chance? I have a job but I have been struggling a lot financially and am super hungry.
Hey! My name is Arielle and I'm a queer researcher and relationship skills coach at Northwestern University. I want to give y'all some info about 2GETHER, a project we have going on for male couples.
2GETHER is a paid research study that involves a relationship education program-- where you and your partner can learn healthy relationship skills like communication, coping, and other ways to strengthen your relationship. We have a national online program and an in-person program for people who live in Chicago.
There will be follow-up surveys and free at-home STI testing before and after the 2GETHER program. Because we're a university, all data we collect is protected by IRB and federal regulations. If you and your partner are eligible to take part, you'll see a consent form, which has more info about your privacy rights.
Fun bonus: as a thank you for completing all parts of 2GETHER, each partner will receive $250!

Couldn't find a version of the Chicago flag with the black and brown stripes from the Philly flag, so I made one! :) Feel free to use it non-commercially - print it out, use it as a screensaver etc. If someone wants it as a Facebook cover photo, I could try and make a longer one?
.
Edit: The original post had a link to my RedBubble shop which I made to put this flag up. Now that I've added a bunch of other designs, the link just seems spammy so I'm removing it. You can still find it by searching "chicagoprideclothes" on RedBubble though. If there's something else you'd like to see, let me know and I'll see what I can do!
My daughter has been out as a lesbian for almost a year and would like to attend some pride events. I’m having trouble finding things that aren’t too adult and the family events sound almost too babyish from descriptions I’ve read.
I know it's last minute, but my friend got sick and now I have an extra ticket for the Diana Ross concert at 8:30! They're just lawn tickets, nothing fancy. Come see a legend with me, I hate going to things alone! PM me if you're interested
Will be in Chicago next weekend, looking to see Alaska at roscoes. How early should it get there? Is it too cray
Ps any good divey / local / historic / small gay bars?
Coming from out of town next month so going to watch Rupaul's Drag Race at a bar. Was wondering if anyone had some insight if Roscoe's or Sidetrack was the better choice.
