Trying to go kayak fishing for the first time in the next few weeks. Does anyone have spots they recommend fishing / launching kayaks from?
If im out there past 5 PM fishing, will they lock me in? I sometimes see the exit gate remains open after 5 and I’ve managed to drive out at around 6 before but just wanted to make sure that’s normal.
Also any tips fishing there would be appreciated
Hey guys,
Any good ideas on where I can go to target some reds from the shore? Don't have a boat, unfortunately. I live on West Ashley, but I don't mind a drive anywhere in Charleston.
I've tried Cosgrove, breach inlet, and several other boat landings to no success.
I am new to the Charleston area and am trying to figure out how to get started fishing here. Looking for any guidance on surf fishing and would also really love to do some inland fishing, but I don’t have a boat. Any tips on locations, techniques, or suggestions on inland fishing without a boat would be really appreciated. Mostly just want to learn as much as I can about the area and get out there. Also if anyone is looking for some company out on the water feel free to shoot me a DM!
I want to go surf fishing for bull reds and want to try Sullivan’s island, I’m just not sure if it’s worth my time to go on a falling high tide as I’ve heard an incoming low is good to get the bait in the right spot and wait it out. I was also going to use live finger mullet
Hey guys! So I’m here in Beaufort visiting for a few days… I was hoping to find someone going out to do some offshore fishing that wouldn’t mind a lil extra company in the next day or two.. Would be happy to throw in on gas/bait.. it has honestly been one of my dreams since I was young to have the opportunity to go! Yes.. there may be tons of offshore charter fishing companies, I know, but their fees are just entirely too high for me right now
Is there any good gigging spots you don’t need a boat to get to?
Hey everybody, I’m fairly new tot he fishing in the Charleston area - at least inshore saltwater from a boat. I’m not really looking for specific fishing spots, just some advice on where to target fish this time of year! Should I be fishing the jetties? Under docks? Any advice is appreciated!
Getting into town on Monday. Relatively inexperienced with saltwater fishing. Is there any point trying to pier fish this time of year around Charleston?
Been all over charleston this summer jetties, isle of palms, sullivans flats etc in my boat but have yet to get a big redfish. Mostly using shrimp and artificial shrimp to catch it. Any tips or spots?
Just wondering has anyone ever fished the ponds in the Charleston National golf course neighborhood? I’m prepared to encounter a Karen if I have to.
Headed down to charleston in a few days for some bank fishing as I don’t have a boat. What all is biting this time of year?? Also if anyone has some park/pier recommendations i’d be appreciative! Plan on using a basic bottom rig and frozen shrimp
My Wife potentially has a new job lined up at Joint Base Charleston - and we'd be moving with a 1.5 year old Little Boy and looking to set down some roots and raise a family.
Currently living in El Paso TX and love it here as well besides it being in the middle of the desert. Have visited Charleston twice and loved it.
But would be great to hear from some locals about raising a family?
We love Fishing, Boating, Outdoor Activities, Volleyball, Golf, and a great local active Church community.
I'm relatively new to saltwater fishing and don't get to go out often, but last summer I used to fish the Cooper river on the navy base before a freighter put a hole in the wharf. I went out a few times this past week with no luck. I'm thinking about renting a kayak but I'm not sure where to go. Mainly looking for Reds, Trout, and Black drum, But I'll take anything.
I am in mount pleasant area and we just can’t find any good fresh or salt water spots all fresh water ponds we get 1 fish and then bust and salt we just can’t find any good.
Does anyone have tips to find a good spot or know any?
I went fishing on on Veterans day (Thurs) and friday. Fished a few spots down the stono towards kiawah and then back up in the ashley. The bite was SLOW to none. Was fishing along the grass with cut mullet and shrimp, along with with jigging in there too. Just wondering what anyone else's experience was like.
Can sheepshead be found in the bulls bay area near the structure of the docks on the ICW?
Anyone have any fishing spots on the Ashley you don’t mind sharing? I’ve just started fishing the area and have had limited luck. Caught one speckled trout off the cut in front of the bridge to nowhere and a small redfish just inside old town creek. Thanks for any tips.
Gonna be visiting the Charleston area next month for several days. My buddy says there are several little ponds in his neighborhood and I'm curious if your pond fish will hit any hard baits(crankbaits, jerkbaits or swimbaits) as well as buzzbaits, spinner baits or poppers. Also curious what colors are successful in the area(color of the local baitfish) and if they will likely be prespawn, spawning or post spawn the last 10 days of May? Appreciate any tips I can get.
