Can someone explain the Holy City/Tideland connection?

Charleston is my favorite city in the world (especially for beer) and we’re finally visiting again for the first time in five years. I just looked at my check in of Pluff Mud from years ago and it now says the location is Tideland. I can’t find much info about it online and their Instagram is still advertising Holy City beers. What’s going on with it?

Munkle is on the top of my list so far. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. I love Belgians, wife loves IPA’s.

CHS Bottle Shops

Hey all, I’m in town for a week and want to grab some beers to take home. Can you recommend a good bottle shop that stocks the local beers? Plus any suggestions on excellent west coast style IPAs would be great!

Any bar/restaurant service industry leads here?

My girlfriend and I are moving to Charleston beginning of February as she is being transferred for work to the V.A. Hospital there. I've been in the industry for 10 years doing everything F.O.H. related. I've searched job listings (i.e. craigslist) but at a glance it doesn't seem like there's much. Any ideas on how to search besides taking my resume door to door? Are there any industry pages on FB etc I can try? We will be living in DT Charleston near the V.A. although traveling nearby is an option

Headed to Charleston this weekend for five days

Hey guys, I'm headed to Charleston this weekend for a beer trip, and I have a pretty good idea of breweries to hit up and what beers to drink. What I'm asking for y'alls help with is if there are any special or seasonal beers at any of the breweries that I shouldn't miss.

Thanks in advance!

In the middle of negotiating a trade agreement and am curious what the asking price was for Goose Island's 2015 BCBS Regal Rye variant from everyone's local CHS and/or SC bottle shops?

🍻+ thanks in advance!

DIY brewery Crawl?

If you were planning on hitting up a couple breweries in walking distance around Charleston, what your lineup be? I have not been to Charleston before, but judging on what I see on the map, it looks like something like Tradesman-> Cooper-> Munkle-> Edmund's?

Best brewery tours?

My mom and I will be visiting for a few days in April, and are very interested in checking out the craft beer scene. Are there any brewery tours that stand out? Ones we shouldn't miss?

Drinking Spots in Folly?

I grew up in South Carolina. I've lived in Colorado for 4 years at this point, and after booking a beach house in February on Folly Beach for my wedding party I've become reacquainted with some of the the socially conservative laws.

Like here in Colorado, we don't have beaches, but you can go to gorgeous natural habitats and legally drink 3.2% beer and most park rangers don't really care to check if its 3.2%. Same goes for parks, and other public areas. The sky doesn't fall, I saw more litter in nature in SC growing up then I have here. Enough of my little rant.

So Folly doesn't let you drink on the beach, fair enough. Someone mentioned Pelican Point in the county park. Am I confusing this with Pelican Watch Pavilion where it costs $600 just to have a spot to legally drink at? I have no problem supporting the local businesses, we are planning on going to a bar, but I also view the local convenience stores that sell alcohol as a local business as well.

Basically is there anywhere in Folly that me and my friends could go that isn't a blatant money grab? 2 of my friends aren't allowed at the beach house due to Folly's occupancy maximums so we booked them a hotel.

If there's no spot or strategy to get a buzz on with our own alcohol, what's the best cheapest drink special at Folly?

Specific Beer Recommendations?

Aloha!

I am visiting from CT next week, and I'd love to bring some beer back for my husb for being such a good sport about hanging with kiddo for 5 days without me. In CT, of course we're big on hazy IPAs, but he likes a regular IPA, a red ale, or a good stout as much as anyone. If there's any specific amazing brews I should bring back to CT, I'd love to hear it.

Other than a trip to Treehouse or Trillium or the super hard to get beers (Maine Dinner and the like), I'm happy to bring some NE beer out for an awesome redditor. I should be able to pick up some Grey Sail Captain's Daughter or some Lawson's Sip of Sunshine. It doesn't have to be a trade, but you'd have to pay me back (SOS runs about $17 for a 4-pack, and I haven't bought CD in a while, so I'd estimate $14 for a 4 pack).

Visiting soon, restaurant or Event suggestions?

I'm visiting your city in a few weeks (July 6-9) with my girlfriend and dog and I was wondering if any of you fine people could suggest some great spots for craft beer/food (dog friendly if possible) that I visit while I'm in town. Also, if you have a line on any fun events that weekend then I'd love a few suggestions!

Cheers!

(XPost from r/Charleston) local beers need a home!

My fiance and I got married this past Sunday in Charleston, SC. We are stuck with ~120 cans of loose beer our caterers removed from 6-packs and therefore cannot return.

We are heavy drinkers but there is no sane or survivable way we can kill everything before we leave town. I hate to waste it so I was hoping to reach to any locals (weddings coming up?) that may want a bunch of beer.

We just want to get it all to a good home. Varieties include Pluff Mud Porter, Smoking Mirror, Westbrook IPA and White Thai, Palmetto Island Wit, and a few kinds of pilsner. Will deliver/meet to drop off within reason.

We leave town Thursday night. It's all delicious! We live on the West Coast or we would take a bunch home with us. PM for info or with questions. I can give an exact breakdown of what we have.

Toppling Goliath and New Glarus for trade

I will be visiting Charleston 6/3 to 6/9. I'm from Iowa and have the latest batch of Double Dry Hopped Pseudo Sue, King Sue, and Sosus. Also have Serendipity, Belgian Red, and Raspberry Tart from New Glarus. I prefer stouts and porters, but also enjoy IPA's and sours. Would love to meet up for a trade! Cheers!

Best beer available at the local package store?

My friend is currently visiting in Charleston for the next couple days. What are some of the best local beers I should have him look for that he might be able to find fairly easily? We are in CT but he drove down and wants to bring some good stuff back. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Edit: also looking for package store recommendations while we're at it.
