Hello, I've lived in Cedar Rapids a few years now. I'm 31 and originally from southeastern Iowa. Have moved around the state to a few cities but ended up buying a home here almost 3 years ago. I had a group of friends here who worked at Collins but every single one moved out of Iowa haha. I am in a relationship, have 3 dogs and a cat, enjoy art, crafting, tennis (I'm not great), hiking, concerts, hand knitting, painting, karaoke, drinks, comedy (I did stand up once and didn't fail :p) I volunteered as a dog foster so i lovebasically anything but volleyball and I know that's big here just not my cup of tea. I work remotely so that has made it difficult to socialize esp since all my coworkers live in different states. I would say my music taste is all over the place from slipknot to the 1975 to Tswift haha (iykyk). Ladies, feel free to reach out. <3

My riding mower deck broke, there is a bracket that was welded to it which is used to raise or lower the deck. It fell completely off. Anyone know of a place in the CR area which can weld it back?

It runs fine otherwise so I'd hate to put a ton of money into a replacement.

Anyone have any insight to what might be happening there? Did someone buy it? They’ve ripped out the entire parking lot.

I am wanting to buy tickets to the home alone in concert orchestra. I have never been to an orchestra and I am wondering what seats would be the best for an event like this. Thanks in advance!

Anyone aware of places in town that sells their jerky? I can find their beef sticks and such but never jerky. Trying to save myself an 1.5 hr drive if possible.

Also, bought some Iowa Smokehouse homestyle jerky last night. Ooof, dunno what theyre doing over there but crazy unimpressive. Surprised thats the big local brand in stores…

UPDATE 2: They are transporting him to the hospital for a longer stay to help him out, but he's okay. They now have the proper contact information. Thank you to everyone who looked and prayed in the meantime. :)

Friends, I am asking you to be in prayer for Michael Benedict, and as you go about your day please look for him around town. He has been missing since yesterday morning, and he doesn't have a phone with him. Michael will be walking. We know Michael has been to Summit Pointe and somewhere along Edgewood Road, but to this point, we have not been able to make contact with him.

He is likely wearing a white t-shirt with a tear in the shoulder and blue jeans. His picture is included here, but he has lost a lot of weight, his hair is longer, and he has a bit of a beard.

He is not dangerous, but he is not well right now and he needs help. I am asking you, as you make your way about the metro area today, to keep an eye out for Michael. If you see him, please contact the Marion or Cedar Rapids police department, as a missing person report was filed last night.

Thank you to those who have been searching already, and for all of us, wherever we are, please pray for Michael today.

Around 2007 there was a gas station across from Toyota that had a tanning salon and Chinese restaurant inside. I think a Cici’s Pizza or Pizza Ranch, too. I see now on Google Maps it’s a Mercy building.

How could I find the old owner of the Chinese Restaurant? Who at City Hall would be able to find and release that kind of information?

Hello Cedar Rapids people! I wanted to talk about an awesome yearly event that a fantastic organization has every year, called Extra Life. Extra Life is a program of the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. We raise money for these hospitals through gaming.

"How does this all work?", I see you asking. Easy! Our big event is the Game Day held the first Saturday every November, where gamers nationwide come together to game for 24 hours while raising funds for their chosen Children's Miracle Network Hospital.

I myself will be streaming my own game day on www.twitch.tv/elementalanvilstudios in support of the Iowa Stead Family Children's Research Hospital in Iowa City.

I'm taking my less-than-spry* mom to vote in the next day or two, and I can't remember how it was set up at Lindale. Do they have any accommodations like chairs or bumping ahead in line? She has a walker with a seat, but that's not going to work for more than a few mintues.

(*her cognitive abilities are still wicked sharp, she's a die-hard bleeding-heart liberal and will debate you on anything)

I've lived in Cedar Rapids for 20 years and I've always struggled with finding female friends. I work in a male-dominated company with very few women who have similar backgrounds as I do. I am not religious so I don't attend church (this won't change). There are several female social groups on Facebook but one has all of their activities during the day and I work, and the other all of their events are already full through the end of the year. My male co-workers' wives all have friends already and often I don't have anything in common with them. Our lives are very different.....I'm a divorced single mom with teenagers about to be an empty nester. I love listening to live music, travel, engineering, science, space, Star Trek, hiking, and watching lots of TV and movies. I'd like to have one excellent friend with whom to discuss our lives. We don't even have to do anything besides sit around and chat. Does anyone have any ideas where I could find such a person?

I was looking into some apartments “Shamrock Apartments” and I like the look of the place and I like the price but can’t find much else about it. Does anyone know if these are good apartments or not?
