Possible Pancheros Food Poisoning?

My son got ill after eating bad Pancheros, he thinks. This illness has spread to his sister and me. The last time I had something like this it was shigellosis from an unsanitary food worker. Anyone get sick recently after eating at Pancheros? Trying to determine if this is the actual point of origin or not.

If anyone needs me I'll be on the floor in the bathroom.

Movie Theater

My wife and I will be traveling to CR later this month for a weekend getaway. And was thinking about catching a movie while we are there.

What movie theater would you recommend, and why?

Thanks for responding.

Looking to reserve a room for games.

I'm looking for a public place to play games on a reoccurring regular basis. Mostly D&D, but occasionally other games as well. I've used the libraries before but any room that can hold more than four people books out several months in advance. 1st Turn Games and Tempest Games are fine but have to compete with MTG tournaments makes talking without losing my voice a struggle. I have played out of my house but there are some who don't feel comfortable going to a private residence without knowing someone and I can only fit six people comfortably. Does anyone know of other places or even restaurants that would let me use a room? Free is preferred but not required.

Garbage pickup?

SW side here. Did anyone else's garbage not get picked up today (Monday 12/2)? Website said delays at end of last week, but nothing for this week.

UPDATE: Sounds like I was misinformed, the recycling got picked up, but the garbage bin was on its side and was probably like that when they came through, so they didn't get it. At least it's cold enough to not be an issue before next week. Thanks!

80's era video store help

This is a LONG shot. Anyone remember the name of the video rental store that was in the strip mall behind Drug Town on Mt. Vernon Rd? Guy who owned was named Emmet?

It's snowing for the first time this year so don't get yourself in a ditch

Be sure to drive slow and careful. Snow and ice mean an increased stopping distance too. Slamming on your brakes suddenly will only cause you to slide forward.

Will be moving to the Midwest summer’25, thinking about trading in and getting a new car, any advice ?

My company wants me to move to the Midwest, my gf has a job and family there so I don’t mind moving there. I currently drive a civic’13 and it has about 116k miles on it. My gf has a ford explorer’22 with about 45k miles on it. We don’t have any kids yet but would like to start a family soon. Some must haves for the new car/truck:

  • AWD

  • Remote start

  • Navigation System

  • Back up camera

  • heated seats and mirrors.

  • < 50k miles (at most 60k)

  • no history of transmission or engine start/stop failing or any crazy expensive or safety concerns

  • budget $18-23k, kbb says my Honda is worth about $5k.

Best Chinese in Cedar Rapids?

Not the Hip-stir but more like take out. We normally go to China Inn but curious what else is out there. We’ve been to Egg Roll House as well.

Best Chinese would be flavorful and doesn’t taste like corn starch thickener.

TIA!

Small Business Saturday - where are we shopping today??

I'll be hitting up Vintage2Die4, White Lion Antiques, and the Newbo Market for lunch and checking out the shops in there like Tangled Heartstrings.

Where is everyone else going?

Dog cremation.

Most reasonable place to take for cremation?

Unfortunately on Thanksgiving our dog passed away. I’ve read negative reviews about the emergency place. Figured I’d reach out on here quick. Thanks

Any restaurants or grocery stores that offer cooked Thanksgiving food for 1 person

I had Covid last week and I’m not able to visit any friends or family due to my lack of energy levels. Would like some Thanksgiving food and was curious if a grocery store or restaurant offered some options. Thanks.

In town for the holiday, any live music tonight (Wed)?

Just what the title says. Haven't lived here in awhile, not sure where to go anymore. Wouldn't mind a few cocktails and a live band.

Help finding primary care doctor

Hey everyone, I’m looking for primary care doctor recommendations. I used to go to one and loved him because during my annual exams, he would properly code things as preventative (bloodwork, DEXA scans, etc), meaning insurance covered all costs of those preventative procedures. I’ve had doctors in the past charge me for every little thing instead of coding things correctly. My doctor left his clinic which is why I need a new one. Does anyone know of any good doctors that code preventative procedures as such during annual checkups?

How do I find out about city construction projects?

Asking to satisfy my curiosity. I live on the SE side, almost in Marion, and there is a construction project going on on Tama between 1st Ave and Bridgit. This project might be water-related as there are lots of aqua blue pipes setting out waiting to be used.
