This is to track news articles related to law enforcement violating the public trust.
This subreddit is to collect news articles related to law enforcement violating the public trust. There is an issue that needs to be documented and addressed. There is no need to exaggerate the issue as the truth is bad enough and exaggeration detracts from the message.
This is not about bad cops and good cops. This is about a justice system that attracts bullies, authoritarians, and criminals and trains them to needlessly escalate issues. Then hides footage, seals records and protects the criminal behavior, allowing them to quit and start over in a new city, county or state to repeat their behavior. It is about District Attorneys who over charge or fail to bring the full evidence to grand juries as to preserve their relationships with the police. There will always be bad cops, but we can make a system that is transparent and accountable that will catch and prosecute the criminal behavior before the victims stack up.
