Today I passed the 100-105 exam. I wasn't going to attempt it, as time was running out and due to a CCNA attempt about 12 years ago the Pearson Vue system was bugging out trying to work with the NetAcad System and the Cisco system. Finally someone between the NetAcad Twitter team and the Cisco something team were able to merge accounts together. I got my discount voucher 8 days ago and figured, what the heck. I spent every night since reading the Routing and Switching Essentials v6 Companion Guide. Wow that NetAcad course changed a lot since 12 years ago. Every moment I could listen to CBT Nuggets, I was doing so. Car. Shower. Cooking.
Got a 907 this morning out of 100.
Last time I took the test it seemed like the test was just a bunch of random facts. Like really specific details and numbers that you would probably forget right after you took it. So I was wondering if we can just make a list of these things maybe it will help us out. One fact is that an ethernet 802.1q frame is 1522. It's the mtu of 1500 plus the header of 18 plus the 802.1q tag of 4 making it 1522. It's crazy how people remember all these numbers.
I'm changing it up this week for the stream. I'm going to do a little less virtual blackboard type training and we are jumping into live labs using Cisco Packet Tracer. So download the latest version and I will have some labs ready for download by Saturday morning. Check back to the stream at twitch.tv/thesubnetwork for the download link. I will be doing this at the usual time of 3pm PST this Saturday 11 Jan. Come out and join us!
You can download the latest Packet Tracer installer at https://www.netacad.com/courses/packet-tracer

Hi I passed my ICND1 Last week... I studied on and off for about 4 Months. Main Resources
YouTube Resources:
Ryan Benney
Networking
Chris Yoo Notes
I did purchase the Odom and Lammle books but I just struggled to concentrate and videos was the way for me
I mainly watched the CBT Nuggets videos and made plenty of notes from them. I used Ryan Benney and Networking to go over things I needed more help on.
I did labs on the main topics but stuck to the main ones in the Nuggets.
Then I purchased Boson Exam Sim and took 5 tests in total and the score varied from 6-750.
Then in the weeks leading up to the exam I just went over the topics in Chris Yoo’s notes and I found them especially handy as he had it set out under each of of the Exam topics and I even used it to cram as much info 1hr before the exam.
I was worried as I hadn’t done an exam in over 10 years and haven’t don’t work in the Networking field at present it hoping to go into it.
You can still achieve the CCNA but will need to give up on a lot of things ... for me it included Netflix, going out, family time and even the gym... it was a case of now or never so I went all out.
Hopefully this helps someone and encourages them to take the steps and pass the exam.
Hi everyone - passed CCENT today (913/832)

Labs:

Books:
CCENT OCG by Wendell Odom
Prof. Messer ICND1 notes (downloaded from his website)
GOOGLE WIKIPEDIA AND YOUTUBE FOR ANY DETAILS I WANTED - CERTBROS IS REALLY GOOD https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCZg4PvX48mgXQVySgIulX-Q
THE OCG WAS ACTUALLY A FUN READ ONCE I GOT THROUGH THE VIDEOS.
I WOULD RECOMMEND THE BOSON PRACTICE EXAMS FOR SURE - A BIT PRICY, BUT THEY REALLY PREPARE YOU!!
I WAS SO PREPARED, I WAS DONE WITH 20 MINS LEFT!!
So, after years of messing around I’ve finally have gotten serious about learning this thing called networking. Please forgive me for asking such basic questions. Last night, I gave myself the task of pinging from one switch to the next, setting time and a few other minor task. It took an hours or two but eventually I got it. Immediately after, I tore it down and did it again but this time for speed.
I believe, but not certain my issue was one of two things. I created the vlan interface but not the vlan and two the vlan said active but never actually came up. Can anyone shed some light on these two subjects?
Additional question, is there a list of labs and activities that I can follow somewhere?
Hi I have my exam Next Saturday and I’m really struggling. I have done 2 boson tests and I’m hitting around 677 and 778ish (exact scores escape me). The main areas killing me are Network Fundamentals and Routing fundamentals. I’m scoring low in these areas. I can’t subnet to save my life and also some random stuff I’ve never noticed before has come up. My sources are: CBT Nuggets Lammle CCENT book.
Should I delay my exam or knuckle down and go over the things I am getting wrong.
Thanks peeps
I have just finished and passed my CCENT , however am having trouble obtaining the certificate .
How do I get the certificate and when will they send it to me ?
Thanks
