A cat's view of the strange world of humans.

Our 8 year-old female cat Bean has been mostly an only cat her whole life. We had a large male for her first few years with us, and they didn’t have a friendly relationship because he didn’t enjoy others. She’s very sweet with people, including my young daughter.
This week we took in a 4 week-old foster kitten from our local shelter (she was brought in on her own). We plan on adopting her when she’s old enough. The cats can’t interact for almost another month until the kitten is fully vaccinated, but Bean seems really displeased with the kitten’s presence and it’s concerning me.
Currently we have kitten in an enclosed pen with sheets draped around the side. There isn’t another room to put her in. We have moved towels between the two areas to get them used to each others smells. I have been giving all the attention to Bean, but my partner and daughter have played with the kitten outside of the enclosure. Bean has hissed when she sees the kitten and tried to charge her when she was on the floor (we were right there and picked her up).
Looking for guidance on how to proceed over the next few weeks and any tips.
Also- has anyone tried the pheromone diffuser thing?
