Sharing a car from carfax garage (not a carfax report)

Ive recently started using carfax garage to track maintenance now that im the family fleet manager. I would like to be able to share vehicles with the kids so they can also get used to tracking stuff. Anybody knownwhat happens if they each set up their own accounts and add their vin numbers? Will i lose access to that vin in my account, and worse, would i lose all the self reported maintenance history ive added with receipt images?

Turnaround time?

Anyone give some insight for how long it takes to hear back from Carfax after submitting a case to them? I emailed Tuesday morning and have not heard back, not sure what's typical..

Does anyone know what this means?

Hi everyone,

I was looking at this car and I am bit confused about all those entries for the second owner, does anyone know what happened there? It looks like the car was repoed as well. I guess that's a red flag? Any input here would be super helpful.

Thank you!

Carfax down payments

Hi everyone I’m looking to get my first car but my credit is not good. I was hoping that the down payments shown on the carfax reports are usually accurate. Does anyone know?

Carfax lists a car I'd like to sell as "salvage" incorrectly, do they actually fix reported errors?

We moved from California to Arizona for a few years. We registered our car in Arizona. Now we're back in California, have a new car, and would like to sell the old one, which still has valid Arizona registration. The CA DMV incorrectly classified the car as "salvage" after I registered in Arizona. I've gotten that cleared up, but I still can't sell my car to Carvana, etc. because the Carfax listing still has it as salvage. I requested a correction, but my general impression of blood-sucking data-brokers is that they're not going to do anything. What are the chances they'll correct the listing?

Carfax reports shows reports on same day in 2 different states

Can someone explain this?

Carfax shows on 12/28/2017 “vehicle purchase reported” “Tennessee motor vehicle department”

Also on 12/28/2017 “odometer reading reported” “California motor vehicle department LBC”.

Car fax report with no badges

Why do some reports have badges and others do not, eventho the ones without badges have low mileage and no accidents?

Downloading/Exporting Records

Would anybody know if there’s a way to export/download my vehicle’s records from the car care website? I’ve logged my vehicle’s maintenance that I’ve done myself (DIY) but since this is self reporting, it doesn’t show up on the report purchased from carfax. I would like to have my own local copy on my computer. Thanks.

Carfax showing an erroneous claim?

Hi.

My daughter is trying to sell her car here in Ontario. Carfax is showing a damage claim against her car, dated 2021. She had no such claim. She was, however, involved in an at-fault rear ender that caused some damage to the other car. Her insurance paid out for repairs to that car, but my daughter's car took no damage. The rear ender occurred in 2019, not 2021 as per the report.

Is this normal? Could the damages done to the other car appear on my daughter's car, 2 years later?

Do I trust Carfax or the seller?

I found a car that I really want. The owner advertised having the Carfax and when I requested it, she sent it, but she said it was wrong. She is claiming to be the single owner but Carfax is claiming 5 owners. I have read there could be some discrepancies, but could Carfax be this wrong or am I just wishful thinking?

Caliber Fleet Solutions

This company has showed up on the CarFax of several used 2023 Priuses that I'm looking at. Does this mean it was in a commercial fleet? Leased? Should I be concerned?

Question about the impact of repairs

Hi there!

I have a 2024 Corolla LE with 82,700 miles on it. Because I do Uber on the side and I'm constantly going in and out of parking lots, and because this is Texas with lots of big trucks, and because my car is low to the ground, try as I might to avoid it I do occasionally bottom out and the front bumper scrapes. There was one particular pothole I hit months ago that caused one of the retaining clips of the front bumper to break. I was able to glue the bumper in place and it has mostly held without issue, however I would eventually like to go ahead and just replace the bumper and the thing I glued it to so it has a nice clean look again. I'm probably going to do that in a year when money loosens up.

My question is this, if I replace the front bumper, is that going to mean that I no longer have "clean CARFAX" ? Because this isn't the result of a wreck or anything, it's just a cosmetic issue, but I can see somebody thinking that it's somebody hiding an accident or something.

I mean, in the end, by the time I'm done with this car it's going to have like 400,000 miles on it so I'm not really sure how much value I'm potentially protecting, but I still want to understand the impact before I do any work.

Looking for a sold car

I'm looking to buy back a car my husband sold to take care of a lot of bills. I want to buy it back. How do I find the car and what do I offer the current owner to buy it back? The car is very special.

What will go on Carfax report after hitting a post?

Good evening! My wife hit a post in a parking garage with her brand new car (2 weeks old) and the repair shop said he can either half-ass the repairs for the cost of our deductible or do a full repair through our insurance ($2,900 total). He said going through insurance would mean our car would have an accident listed on our carax report. Is this true and, if so, what might to say? It was only a scrape with a post and the only damage is cosmetic.

Is this a red flag?

Good morning all. Thinking about buying a new pickup truck and came across this 2024 ram truck with 4,200 miles on it. When I look at the Carfax it shows two owners, one of which owned it for 21 days before it landed in auction.

This seems a bit odd to me but wanted to get your thoughts. Thanks!

Don’t know what to do from here, asking for advice!

Hey guys, first post here!

In 12/05/2019 I scratched my brand new 2019 GMC Canyon truck that I bought 2 months before. I scratched the bumper and went to a body shop to get a quote and just that, no insurance was contacted and no repair was made. Well fast forward to now, I got rear ended and filed for a diminished value claim. My DV guy told me that he can barely get me a $500 since I have already been into an accident. We looked over the paper work and found an accident reported on the carfax for 12/05/2019. So naturally I filed for a fix through Carfax, and after providing the original quote, a signed note from the owner, a receipt of the touch up paint I bought to fix the scratch, and the owners phone number to clarify the problem, they’re still denying to fix the reported accident. The last resource I have is my lawyer who’s helping me with the diminished value claim among other things, but I really want to avoid bringing lawyers into the conversation. What do you guys recommend??

Reporting by “independent source”?

Selling my car and dealer pulling the CARFAX saw 2 odometer readings on the same day: one is by an “independent source for odometer check” for 35,000 and the other right after by my tire shop stating 34,955. Didn’t visit any other shop that day so my tire shop must be it but dealer is claiming it has to be rectified by CARFAX before selling.

Any ideas on what the independent source might be? Emailed CARFAX but haven’t heard back.

CARFAX EU site

Hey guys,

I'm in the US, and have cars saved on CARFAX.com, but for some reason whenever I go to the site it automatically redirects to carfax.eu. Has this ever happened to anyone else?

CarFax Estimate HALF of what KBB Says

I own a 2016 Volvo s60 Premier with around 100k miles on it. It runs fantastic, and I've always kept up with the maintenance and have never had any issues.

CarFax sent me an email today that said "XXX Volvo Dealership wants to buy your car!", so I clicked on it curious what they think my car is worth.

CarFax says my car is worth $4.8k

I LOL'd pretty hard at that number, and then went to KBB to get their estimate. KBB says my car is worth $10k-$13k. That's more like it.

Why the extreme low ball from CarFax? Honestly, it only pissed me off. I put $3k into my vehicle last year for new breaks, rotors, tires, engine maintenance (new belts, coolant, etc).. and CarFax is trying to tell me it's only worth $1.8k more than what I paid for maintenance?

What a load of BS. Their excuses are always "prices vary in different parts of the market" etc etc but an estimate of less than half that KBB says is pretty sad, and makes me believe that CarFax is colluding with dealerships to artificially lower the value of used vehicles.

Humble Carfax request please

Hi ya'll, I am aware of the cheap sites for 6 dollar carfax reports. Unfortunately I am not able to do that at this time. Is there anyone that has the ability to run a carfax for free? I am not asking for charity, just throwing that out there.

Wrong mileage

Hello

I bought my car in 2021 with 24k miles, only added 10k in 3 years since I deive like 15 miles round trip to work, original carfax shows it 24k

tried to find out how much would they pay me for it online

One report shows it with 120k and carfax with 210k lol, I do the oil changes myself and havent taken it to a shop for any repairs, except for the emission test, how can I get it fixed?

Thank you
