This little guy has 156 sega genesis games on it. Has a AV video output. I think it would be straightforward to ‘convert’ it to a bartop. Actually surprised I can’t find any examples. Which probably means one of two things: 1) it’s actually harder than I think 2) it’s not actually worth it. Any opinions on which of the two?
Hi all. New to the sub. Please let me know if there's a better place to post this.
I've got a Blee 60 in 1. All buttons work apart from P1 & P2 start. Booted into test mode and they're both showing as on but pressing the buttons doesn't toggle them. All other buttons default to off and toggle as expected. I've worked through some basic troubleshooting to prove the physical buttons and ground wires/connectors are working. I traced the wires through the harnesses back to the jamma and both are connected. I used a wire to jump the ground (1/2) and P1 start (17) on the jamma and nothing happened. Jumping the other buttons/sticks with ground all toggled on screen as expected.
Has anyone experienced this or got any ideas? I'm thinking something might be shorting and constantly powering them, hence why they start as on and can't be toggled (because the power never switches off, like the button is being held down). I haven't removed the connectors from the jamma board yet as I couldn't easily pull them off and I ran out of time.
Free play is on if that makes a difference.
TIA
Considering buying this one for my husband for Xmas:
It ain’t cheap, so hoping it isn’t a piece of crap like most of these Chinese made things are.
Thanks!
I’ve been looking to make a 3D model of a arcade room for some time but haven’t been able to find great photos. I would love to see some of your arcades with full room photos or as much of the room as you can. The 3D model should be done in about a week once I decide on a room.
I've been trying to find a mahjong control panel that fits a blast city style cabinet but having trouble locating one that isn't way too expensive and was thinking maybe I need to custom build one at this point. I've seen at least two panels blanks marked as overlays made from polycarbonate but are these ridged enough to hold the buttons or do I need to have a blank metal plate cut with the same dimensions and cutouts also to support them?
Anyone try to put some real controls on a micro cabinet? I assume they’re just little switches. Thinking the board could be the brains for a mini cabinet with regular controls. Someone did this already, didn’t they?
Hey, I’d like to add a couple of solenoids to my cabinet for pinball flipper feedback, while I’m at it some simple LED Blinky for non RGB lights on the main buttons, I have purchased one of these https://www.ultimarc.com/output/led-and-output-controllers/pac-drive/ which states it does the job, the instructions state : “IMPORTANT: When connecting solenoids you must connect a diode across each coil to eliminate "back-EMF" discharge through the driver board. The diode is connected with the end marked with a line to the power-supply end of the coil. Diodes are not required when connecting LEDs.” Does anyone have any experience doing this? What Feedback Diode should I use and how should I best install (any advice appreciated!)
Just got an Astro city cab with jamma connections in it, didn’t realize getting a Naomi setup was so complex and expensive lol. Are there other ways people are doing this simpler and possible emulation? I wanted to use the existing jamma connections but there’s like a billion cables and converters involved. Mainly trying to play all the Dreamcast type fighters like SF3 CVS2, rival schools etc
(Im dumb and didn’t do my research prior just always loved this cab)
When I got my Vewlix I just gutted it and threw a PC in. I was trying to use more native hardware in this but it’s definitely a rabbit hole. Any help is appreciated ! Unsure if things have changed in 2024 or easier methods have been found
Which Williams arcade games did you love, but hated how hard they where? I never got to the second level or Sinistar, but I loved the game so much I continued to pump quarters into it.
I take a look at all of there games... https://youtu.be/l4v5xFBm7gc
I'm hoping to get some advice before I start. Namely, what sort of hardware will I need (I'm in Canada, so no links to American sites like amazon.com if possible, please) and what sort of software will I need? I understand there are a bunch of Golden Tee games playable through MAME and at least one through Teknoparrot. Are there any other emulators needed?
Thanks!
There is a local guy making and selling custom arcade cabjnets using suzzo happ buttons and im assuming joystick. I demoed it and found it a little hard to so street fighter fireballs and dragon punch (diagonal forward direction needed) it was hit or miss and wasnt smooth and was frustrating.
Im assuming it was the joysticks inability to hit that diagnal position.
What do you guys recommend for fighting games like street fighter? Ill see if i can get him to swap it out for me.
Thanks
What is this shape called and any hints to access the back without having to go through the front? It's all pinned on.
I'd like to install some unobtrusive flat or convex buttons on my control panel for MAME administration, like EXIT and PAUSE. I'm interested in buttons that would be smaller than the typical IL pushbuttons, maybe 18mm and metal on top. Ideally, I'd like to mount them so they are flush with the top surface of the control panel, meaning that they depress below the surface of the control panel. I've been searching the usual stores and Amazon but striking out. Any recommendations, and any suggestions for how to install like this?
I was totally surprised
Potentially one of these coming up near me for £1200. I have messaged the seller with a few questions as I am not sure if the JAMMA harness is still in place and what is currently powering the 1000 games they say is available as they also say you can add your own.
Love this style and at some point was considering importing a Blast City from JCL Games but this would be much easier.
Anything else I need to look out for/as the seller?
Ended up with a Blitz PCB, and board repair isnt really my specialty😅. It's missing a whole chip, don't have the old one and can't seem to find what it was online. Anyone here know what's supposed to go here?
Thinking of running Batocera on a mini PC for my first arcade build. Any recommendations for a mini PC that are on sale for about £200ish? Thanks in advance.
The end of the year is almost upon us, but before that happens, make sure you try MAME 0.272! We’re very happy to announce that the early SNK game Tangram Q is now supported. This game was never widespread, and working examples are rarer than ever. MAME now gives you the unprecedented opportunity to experience this piece of gaming history. Another obscure system that’s starting to take shape is the Estonian EKTA Juku. This 8-bit educational computer was powered by a Soviet 8080 clone and ran the CP/M-derived EKDOS operating system.
The French Thomson computers have been receiving some attention lately, and software compatibility is starting to improve. Progress on the NEC PC-98 family is still coming along nicely. Our CD-ROM drive emulation has been getting better, which has a positive impact on numerous computers as well as game systems. The Epoch Super Cassette vision also got some nice fixes this month.
Numerous reported issues were fixed in this release, including some long-standing issues that had eluded developers for years. There are lots of new working bootleg arcade games to try out. Several TV games have been promoted to working this month, too.
You can read about all the exciting work that went into this release in the whatsnew.txt file. As always, the source code and 64-bit Windows binary packages are available on the download page.
Good time to strike if you’re after t-molding, buttons, or an I-PAC. Code is Cyber2024, based on their Facebook page.
When I was growing up and going to the arcade I used to think, how would some of my favorite games translated to the home consoles of the time. I owned a Atari 2600, but some games where good, others where god awful. With this video we look at Zaxxon.
Also, my channel has other games that I compare.
Hi guys!
I have an I-PAC Ultimate I/O it is configured like i want but i want to change the feature that when i power it on it stay in a static, not the default like animation. I have read like everything i could ( more then 3 times ) and seen nothing about that. I don't know if this specification is from WinIPAC or LEDBlinky. If some one could just point me what i have missed. Thank's guys!
Hi guys,
hoping for a new approach here.
I'm currently running 2 IPACs in my Arcade cab in keyboard mode (came preconfigured). So lots of emulators and RA cores are configured to those keyboard profiles.
Now I'm coming across a few cores where I would need to be able to do some button presses. With cores like VICE I can luckily make use of core-based on-screen keyboards for example. But other systems e.g. Bally Astrocade that runs on libretro_mame are more problematic. libretro_mame doesn't have an on-screen keyboard, but the system needs the numeric keys, to select game modes in its games (the console had a physical numpad).
Now, I have most of the numeric keys mapped to my arcade controls, basically blocking them, even if I had a physical keyboard attached.
I was hoping to be able to create an Input Overlay, and have these button presses funneled to the core, but apparently they are being treated as regular keypresses, and thus are ignored as well. Now I'm really out of options, and hope someone here has an idea on how to tackle this? E.g. is there a way to map other keys to the numeric keys inside MAME maybe? Or is there a way to make the Input Overlay function as if it was in Game Focus mode?
I'm really open to any ideas (that don't include me removing the existing IPAC mapping, cause it's configured for +80 systems and LEDBlinky)
Thanks a ton!
