My cyclocross bike has taken a lot of punishment. Its about 6 years old and has been raced, jumped, ridden at the local trail centre many times.
The bike no longer feels stiff as used to (it used to be rock solid). It feels more 'noodley' on hard turns, and has disc rub on pedalling out the saddle. I don't see any cracks, and my local bike shop inspected (eyes and hands only, not a scan) and don't have any concerns.
My impression is the carbon is just not as young as it used to be, and is more flexy now. I think the flexy area is around the BB and or headtube/downtube connection.
I was considering getting it scanned. I wondered if areas of fatigue would show? I also wondered if getting the BB area replaced or reinforced would give the bike a new lease of life?
My bike is out of production now. There are only a couple of new bikes I'd consider getting. So I'm open to the idea of a new frame, or going down the carbon repair route (if its a realistic possibility the frame could be improved).
Would new frame be the smarter option? Many thanks!
Hi, I bought this second hand bike this weekend in a bike shop. In the shop I examined it but somehow didn't noticed these two issues in the carbon fiber frame. Should I return it or are these minor?
For context, this is a BH G7 Pro frame and the whole bike cost me 1350EUR.

Hello, I have bought a used BMC URS and after a while I realised that there were slight cracks in the top tube. the bike was probably damaged by a kickstand. The damage is very small but can be felt on the surface. I have polished the paintwork but only the white marks have disappeared.
Should I have this checked by a repair company?
Did this damage to my top tube today, small strip delaminated. The strip is about 3mmx10mm and looks to only be one layer. is this ok?
I stuck it back down with clear coat, it isn't near the headset or seat tube.
Not sure why this happened. Seatpost is tight, torqued with torque wrench to 5Nm or less, never slipped while riding, but there's a deep scratch almost all the way around.
Have had this bike for 6 months and noticed this flaking around the BB area while cleaning yesterday. Any thoughts would be appreciated
Hi,
I know it's hard to judge by a photo, but every input and opinion is useful to me. I found a small scratch or crack on the inside of my carbon steerer. It's basically new, stem was installed with a torque wrench, used a compression plug.
Nothing happened with the fork that could result in a crack, but I'm concerned. I can feel it with my fingernail so that's definitely something, not just a visible mark.
You can get a better view if you zoom in to the picture.
It's very hard to find an LBS providing carbon checkup in my country.
What do you think based on your experience?
Thanks!
Hello, I have an older Diamondback and the shell is coming loose on the drive side. The other side is perfectly intact. Can I re bond the side that is failing and use a token ninja to square it up?
Found this photo on social and thought I’d share it here
