Hi, we are considering sending our daughter to Mercy High School. We read mixed reviews, with mentions of drug use in bathrooms, bullying and high teacher turnover.
Does anyone have any insights on what is going on in the school and if things are in a downward spiral?
Hi! I found a studio apt on El Camino, super close to the downtown area. I'm 31 F single and currently live in San Mateo (6 min drive to downtown).
I've also loved an apt in San Mateo around Hillsdale and trying to make a decision. I'm an introvert, have a car and wfh. I don't love the apt building as much, more like a motel. The apt itself is pretty spacious and huge closet.
Here are the things that I like about Burlingame and some concerns:

Concerns:
While I love the apt in Hillsdale (has patio, lots of windows, very residential neighborhood, close to Hillsdale mall), I love how close the Burlingame apt is to downtown.
Could you please share your experiences living close to Burlingame downtown or comment on anything absolutely that I've written above?
Thank you!!
Hi folks, i am planning to be out of town for spring break to bring my kids for a short holidays (4-5 days). Would love to prepare ahead of time and find a good place that will care for my dog. Happy to also help another local dog parent when you need in in exchange for taking care of my dog. Thanks!
I don’t understand how the mischievous pastor- Fr. Michael from OLA can take money for the school and invest it in new church bells when my daughter can’t even use the playground equipment cause it’s soo old and the playground lines are faded. I don’t invest in the school so the neighbors know what time it is at the top of the hour. And the new principle Monica has no idea what she is doing so everyone is walking all over her. Reason for my post if you have pre-k, consider St. Cath’s or public school cause Mike Mahoney and Monica are running this school into the ground and no one is calling them out on it.
We got back from a long trip and went inside to unpack some stuff, five minutes later there was a bike in our yard with a free bike sign. Should we be worried?
My girl just moved to Burlingame, going to be spending the weekend exploring the area with her but need some place to park my car overnight.
She has a spot in the apartment lot but only for her car. The City of Burlingame's website makes it seem like overnight parking is illegal?? Her apartment is within downtown Burlingame.
Thanks in advance for any advice. Cheers
New resident here, we received a bi-monthly water bill with $43 fixed water charge and $61 flat sewer fee.
The actual water charge is T1 ($18).
It looks like the most cost is coming from the flat fee, is this normal? Is there something we can do to reduce the flat fee? Thanks!
Hello everyone, I am about to start my employment around end of October for a company based in Burlingame. I am looking for room for rent (could be a shared house) around the area with decent proximity to grocery stores. I will buy a car but not immediately , so will have to rely on public transport or bike for the first few weeks. Does anyone have recommendation on the budget I should consider and tips on areas that might be suitable for myself. FYI, just one person, no family.
I'm working with a small business that's opening up an office in downtown Burlingame. I wanted to see if there are any potential creative business ISP options worth considering besides AT&T and Comcast.
Sonic did not seem to be directly available but I requested a quote in case there's a way to get lucky. Are there any WISPs or government networks or colo / cross connect providers or anything else that you fellow network and IT pros are aware of that I might overlook?
I've only ordered circuits via colos or in downtown San Jose and SF FiDi so I'm not as well connected in the Peninsula and I want to make sure I have turned over all the appropriate rocks to see what might crawl out.
Hey fellow Burlingamers! Looking for fun places to go on the Peninsula (restaurants, breweries, etc) with an active 2 year old little boy.
I live in a small room rented in Hillsborough. Since early November, my landlord has been crazy about her electric and gas bills and blamed it all on me. At the same time, my room temperature had always been less ideal until December, when I sent the California minimum temperature requirement to my landlord and pushed her to verify it with her lawyer when she doesn’t believe it.
Now my room temperature is much better, but the landlord has been so crazy about the bills and my offend of her ego as I pointed out that she made ridiculous mistakes by wanting to push me to move out because of her heating fees (that’s definitely against our lease and the law).
She has hired a lawyer and they are constantly disrupting my peaceful life by announcing to me that they found new excuses to kick me out, oftentimes very different excuses each time. As things progress, I realized it’s probably unavoidable to have to find a lawyer now. After two days’ effort, I still haven’t found a suitable one. The project sentinel hotline has their voice mail boxes full, and the lawyers I contacted were either unavailable or charging too high for a case that I believe has very high success probability.
I would like to know suggestions from people here. Also, I wonder whether we have tenant union in this region as in other cities.
Many thanks in advance!
