Street Ordinals

What's the rationale for when something has an N, S, W, E? It seems like N for everything above Warner/Olive? And maybe W for everything west of the 5?

Magnolia becomes E. Magnolia after I5.
W. Burbank becomes Burbank after I5.
And why is Evergreen without ordinal when all the streets west and east of it are all N?

Help me fix my turntable!

Hey neighbors. Do any of you know someone who is familiar with vintage audio equipment who can help me with a tuneup? I’ve got a late 70s/early 80s Pioneer turntable that needs a replacement timing belt, connector deoxy, etc. It’s not a high end piece but I love it and I’d love to pay a local who knows what they’re doing!

Workout spots?

Hey all. Looking to take my workouts outdoors more. Gym is getting g repetitive. I have a few kettlebells and bands and looking to maybe find a place that has an outdoor workout station. Anyone getting ripped working out outdoors? Looking for buds to maybe get good park workouts in. Very new to kettle bells would be awesome to learn some good workouts, gain some muscle, burn some calories and enjoy the sunshine!

Found Bunny - might have been relocated from somewhere else in Burbank

I found this lovely bunny on Thanksgiving in the area near sixth and glenoaks. She was hiding underneath a car and very easy to catch. I thought she may have been lost in my neighborhood but Ive been seeing other rabbits showing up nearby on next door and now Im wondering if they were abandoned or even stolen. Anywho, if this is your bunny please dm me and answer a couple of questions about her to confirm ownership. 🐇 I really like her but can’t keep her because I have two dogs literally trained to chase small animals (dog sports/tracking) 😅😅

Forest Lawn Drive project

Dude knocked at my door yesterday and offered me to sign a petition against a project that would reduce the amount of car lanes on Forest Lawn Drive, in order to add a safety lane for bikes. He argues this will cause terrible gridlock and is a bad project. I never drive around that area so told him I would like to know the project better before signing anything. What’s everyone opinion?

Burbank Schools

Burbank parent here! Would love folks thoughts / experiences on Burbank schools - currently elementary schools. We are districted for Emerson but have access to Disney (maybe McKinley?) because of DI program. Any thoughts on these? Positive experiences with teachers? Appreciate any input!

Anyone know of Horse Riding Classes locally?

I know the Burbank/Glendale area has a pretty strong equestrian community, but this is just from general knowledge and seeing a few horses near the Zoo area...May I ask if anyone has any specific knowledge as to where I can sign up for riding lessons? Thank you!

Protip: If you're waiting in line for a Tallyrand Thanksgiving meal, don't be a complete dick.

Tonight was my fourth time getting a takeout Thanksgiving from Tallyrand. It's always been great, and not only do I appreciate the meal, I appreciate all of the employees working on Thanksgiving to serve the community.

The wait times have varied by a lot over the last few years. The first year I waited 90 minutes as the line went down both sides of the sidewalks on Reese. The next couple of years, it took about 15 minutes. Tonight it was about 35 minutes.

So anyway, tonight I got in line, there was a small line down Reese. The guy behind me was not happy there was a line at all, so he immediately called the restaurant, demanded to speak to the owner and said "You remember me? Two years ago I called about getting food poisoning at your restaurant. There's a long line for your thanksgiving meal, how do we expedite this process?"

Whoever was on the phone (possibly the owner, possibly not) told this guy that they were going to sell out and to not bother waiting. This guy yelled "So I drove here for nothing??" and I heard the person at the other end say "Sorry about that." This guy stormed off to his car and drove off.

I got my meal, the people behind me got my meal, and they were still serving people waiting to sit inside the restaurant. All was good, and it would have been good for this guy behind me had he not been a total dick.

Again, I applaud Tallyrand not only for the meal served, but also for making sure not to serve a total asshole.

Great cigar spots in Burbank and nearby?

I am visiting my dad soon and he occasionally likes to smoke a cigar so I was thinking of gifting him some good quality stuff. I don’t know much about cigars let alone a good spot that specializes in that in Burbank and the valley. Please recommend!

Last minute take out thanksgiving meals?

Had plans with family tomorrow, but managed to come down with cold/flu symptoms this afternoon so my wife and I are most likely going to fend for ourselves. Looks like I missed the window for ordering from Whole Foods, and castaway is only doing dine-in. Any last minute options available for two people?

It's full of Thanksgiving stuff so you need your stuff more than I need mine but customer service isn't working so trying to connect with you here. Let me know your name and items, I'll try to get them to you!

Pies - Sliders has them

Was picking up a Chicago dog at Larry’s and popped into Sliders hoping for cinnamon rolls.
They had a decent amount of full size pies with no lines. FYI in case you’re still searching.

Poop!?

I can only speak for Burbank since I live here so I don't know how other cities are, but the last two years I notice more and more dog poop being left behind. I used to walk my dog and go to parks and rarely see dog poooo, I would go days without seeing it but now I see minimum 2 on each walk or visit to the park. I don't get what's changed, I don't know if it was illegal and now it's not, but it's still common courtesy. Besides parks and sidewalk grass having poop, I see them on the actual sidewalk and even on the street itself. As far as parks go, Stough canyon is a disaster, big dog poop everywhere, stepped in one on Sunday decided it was time to toss these shoes anyway. Brand park same. Orange Grove Baseball field, total disaster. Wildwood poop everywhere. And then there are people who pick up the dog poop but leave it on other peoples sidewalk, happened to me million times happened to a lot of my neighbors. Let's be better if you're one of these inconsiderate immature beings

Alley Parking

I know everyone does it, but lately my neighbor across the alley has been parking in front of their garages, and it prevents me from backing out of my garage without multiple shifts and inching out. Last night they parked in a way where I couldn’t even pull in to my garage.

It’s not just me it’s my two other neighbors as well. We’ve left notes, but they don’t seem to care or want to be considerate.

Are we SOL every time this guy is too lazy to find street parking? They constantly are in the way of our cars.

Aldi's had Diary Section Locked Down

EDIT: Apologies - I can't edit a title. It's Dairy. They have dairy locked down. Though I wouldn't put it past them to have stationary in their whatever aisle.

I didn't stop to take a photo as I was carrying two 10-lbs bags of potatoes and was looking forward to... well, to not carrying two bags of potatoes but it looks like Aldi's had their entire diary section shut down. I assume it's due to the listeria outbreak? But I thought that was a few weeks back.

Admittedly, I haven't been in lately. Just went to grab a pizza for tonight (didn't quite make the leftovers last until the holiday) and the aforementioned bags of 'taters. But it looks like anyone hoping to do some last minute shopping there for butter or other dairy may have missed the boat (or missed the food-borne illness, so could go either way on if you feel lucky about it).

Sorry I can't contribute to The Great Burbank Cheap Turkey Watch: 2024. The butter had been the only item not near the door that I'd needed so when I saw that, I left. Grocery Outlet still had cheap turkeys, last I heard, though (yesterday morning).

Burbank Blvd Bridge

Who else thinks the Burbank Blvd Bridge "expansion" made traffic worse?

Before it felt like, when we wanted to enter the freeway, we just went. In both north and south 5 freeway. Any direction entrance. Even when exiting. It felt like an easy exit. Now, the 5 north exit takes 2 lights before one can even fully enter Burbank blvd. And it overflows blocking Burbank blvd. And the 5 south entrance , making a left into it also takes two lights. It's rare that both lights are green at the same time. That 5 north exit is overflowing. If this is suppose to prepare for Burbank's population growth, it's already failing. It's quite obvious.

Ava Burbank removing mature trees

Does anyone know of is the community or the city removing our trees? They didn’t appear to be unhealthy or a hazard. They are really big though. There were ravens and owls living in them, and it was one of my favorite parts of living here. I’m understandably upset, but I’m just trying to figure out why they would do this? This was a full healthy tree when I left for work.

Question about renting a movie screening room.

One of my favorite films is Spielberg’s Duel. I absolutely love it and watch it a few times a year. None of my friends have seen it and we keep making plans and then they fall apart. I’d love to rent a space to have a private screening of it with a great sound system and a projector, it would totally surprise everyone!

Anyone know some place I could rent in the Burbank area for cheap. I don’t need a professional space, just something that can play the Blu Ray with a good sound system, in a darkened room with a digital projector.

Thanks for all the great posts in this sub Reddit. I’ve learned so much from it.
